I'm loving the twins, Snarf, and Mumm-Ra being a badass.

Yeah the twins are so slick. Every scene with them is gold.

Also liked Lion-O getting caught up in the Captains obsessive ways until he comes to his senses.

BTW was that golden stuff the ship was floating on water or sand? lol!

I love the new series. I got the original series on DVD and the new series is extremely well done. The voice acting is spot on and the art is phenomenal!

I haven't seen this weeks episode yet but I'll watch it when i get home from work at 7am :funny:

That's like the third Mobey Dick homage I've seen this week. :funny:

i was thinking the same thing, just saw the futurama one thursday, what was the other one you were referring to?

It was referencing Wrath of Khan, not Moby Dick . . . bleh :p .

Not as good as the pilot episodes but still an awesome show.

Thunderkittens for the win!

It was sand since that monster sucked up all the water from a certain region.

Yeah that's what I thought but the golden stuff had waves and people would swim in it. Strange.

Anyway I'd rank all the 80's reboots like this:

1) Thundercats
2) GI Joe Renegades
3) Transformers Prime

I'm a TF fanboy but TF Prime is a distant third.

Good second episode. The only thing that bugged me was the fact that the big, scary sea monster turned out to be a giant eggplant. Hard to be scared of a vegetable. Also, I was kind of hoping Panthro would turn up sooner rather than later, but I guess we'll have to wait some more. But I am quite enjoying Wily Kit and Wily Kat. They're bringing a good level of humor without being too goofy.

I think Panthro will turn up soon.
There's an episode coming up called "Old Friends". Sounds like it could be his episode.

Not as good as the first episode, but solid.

The "Moby Dick" this has been done before, but, the twins were good.

i think the twins are borderline annoying. they could go either way for me still. the first 2 episodes i liked them, in this new episode i did not. they seemed useless.

There was this movie that came on SyFy starring Danny Glover in the Ahab role. Only instead of a whale, it was a Dragon. Not bad.

The twins were great in last night's ep. Is it wrong that I laughed at Tygra when he got sea sick? :cwink:

From Comic Con:

"One major departure from the original series will see everything set on Third Earth. Thundera is still a city there and will still be destroyed, but the cats' journey will be into the wilds of the planet instead of into a new world altogether. It was also revealed that, while Lion-O has only been seen so far with his younger body, he will be aged at a specific point as the series moves on."

Can't wait to see how this comes about. I wonder if Friedle will continue to voice Lion-O when he ages up or if Kenney will again take on the character.

No one is talking about literal reincarnation, though

To suggest a link to the old show implies reincarnation since the characters are basically the same. In other words, the original show featured Lion-O, Cheetara, etc., and the new one features those characters as well. If you link the shows, how would you explain that other than assuming the characters from the original were somehow reborn or reincarnated? That's why I don't like the idea of linking the new series with the one one. Now, if we were seeing completely different characters in the new show, I'd be perfectly fine with the notion of them being descended from the original Thundercats -- since they aren't carbon copies. That's not the case though.

Sorry if that's a bit confusing. :yay:

One thing I like about the show is that it's a reboot certainly, but there are enough allusions to the old series that you can almost think of it as a sequel in spirit, if not story, to the old show. Kind of like how the new Battlestar Galactica relates to the old one, or how the new He-Man classics canon fits in with all the other incarnations (that reference only makes sense if you hang out at he-man.org; tis a dark and scary place).

To wit:

- Old series: Thunderians and Mutants land on Third Earth and establish their early settlements.
- New series: Thunderians have conquered Third Earth and have been there for years; Mutants are now subjugated races.
- Old series: Mumm Ra is a new enemy.
- New Series: Mumm Ra is an ancient enemy, defeated in the distant past.
- Old Series: Young lion played by Larry Kenney
- New Series: Old lion played by Larry Kenney

In some ways, it's like you can view the Thundercats mythology as a neverending cycle, of defeat, struggle and conquest.

ah, i saw that movie a while back age of the dragons it's called. i think they still could have done the boat stuff on water and just went after a sea serpent instead. the land boat was strange.

Where is Dread and where are his reviews of this show? I am sad because it feels like he's ignoring it.

Pink Ranger, it is also pretty clear that Thunderians haven't conquered all of Third Earth, just Thundera which is apparently the best land/area on the planet. There probably other lands and races they are not familiar with. Claudus mentioned Grune finding new lands for them to conquer.

However Pink Ranger, I do agree that the similarities almost in some ways make it feel like as you say a SPIRITUAL SEQUEL, just maybe not a literal one. The BSG analogy is also very good.

Again not saying it is a literal sequel or whatever, but almost like there is ALMOST a connection to the original and history is almost sort of repeating itself. It's not necessarily REAL, just a fun thing to think about.

Eh.

He'd probably just give you some long ass soliloquy about why this isn't as good as f**kin' Ninja Turtles or something.

LOL I still want Dread to talk about the show.

Also the Thunderkittens are turning into really good characters. I like how devious and smart they are. I think they will turn into show stealers like Wasp in Avengers.

Does Dread even have any interest in this, anyway? I haven't seen him post in here or talk about it elsewhere.

He should because it is awesome and right up his alley.

Black Panther is the scene stealer on Avengers, not Wasp. :yay:
