I'm guessing they're gonna add them to those red circles as a symbol of unity or a beacon to other cats they meet along the way that Thundera will rise again or something. Revamps always seem to like attaching meaning to all kinds of random stuff from their source material.

Well, they had damn well better.... Cause I miss em :csad:

i love the extended universe of different animals and plantlife, i wonder why they are still segregated. They still have yet to manage an multicultural animal based establishment in fiction.

bucky o hare was the closest on a space ship but no mixed species settlements as yet.

Come on, man. ;)

damn gaga caught me off guard, my flatmate caught me laughing like a girl, damn you...

but in any case, those are just a group of friends, i mean like an entire city of civilization, not a group of misfits.

like an animal version of coruscant.

lol, but seriously, you at least have to give me Wind in the Willows. It had toads, badgers, moles, rats, weasels, rabbits and more living in a pastoral English township. As a "civilization" they certainly appear to be more civilized than the real England is right now. :oldrazz:

Hey what about Ducktales, Darkwing Duck or Tale Spin? Well Talespin is more diverse then the other two.

oh my god, lion-o sounds so much like terry mcguinness it's not even funny.

will friedle could have at least changed his voice a lil

and isn't his dad the same guy who plays forge in x-men tas?
I hear Terry, but not as much as I sometimes picture Lion-O as Eric Matthews. :woot:

Whose dad? Will Friedle's dad or Lion-O's dad?

No idea who Friedle's father is, but King Claudus was voiced by Larry Kenney, who voiced Lion-O in the 80s series.

I finaly watched the first episode on Cartoon Networks site And I think it was awesome. Now I just have to remember to set my DVR to record Thundercats every week because I don't remember it's on untill it's to late.

I think the segregation is partly because the Cat race had sort of become the dominant species and they treated the other races (dogs and lizards) as second class citizens. Sort of became arrogant and power hungry. Claudus mentioned Grune finding the Cats new lands for them to "conqueror".

Yeah, the Thundercats are clearly imperialists. That's part of what I like about this iteration of the show. The Thundercats aren't the persecuted white hats they were in the original; they've got their own sins to atone for and the whole situation is just one big political mess.

they had cities where all the races coexisted together in these shows???

i thought they did the normal animal segregation thing?

yeah you kinda wonder why a child would route for a race which enslaves another during its downfall.

it's like people rooting for rameses II in the ten commandments

I think the thing to note is that Lion-O doesn't like it and he will align himself with other races and hopefully mend relations with cats and other races and ultimately rise above it all.

maybe he'll do an aslan and become king of the planet rather than just thunderra in the end?

That seems to be the way it's going. Lion-O will introduce more merciful leanings to the Thundercats whenever they rise to power again.

The introduction of the imperialist Thunderans is definitely an unexpectedly complicated plot element to add to this iteration of the show. After seeing the way dogs and lizards were initially portrayed, I didn't shed any tears seeing the Thunderans getting their asses kicked.

I suspect one of the lessons we will learn from this show is that today's freedom fighters are tomorrow's despots. Slithe = Robert Mugabe maybe.

I like it.

I was a big fan of the 80s show and I have to say, I was a bit.. dubious when they revealed the re-designs, especially Panthro, not too keen on him. But I've just watched the episode 1-3 on dailymotion and I enjoyed it. Actually I was a big confused because they have nothing labaelled as 'episode 2' - they have ep.1 - sword of omens part 1, 2 and 3 then ep.3, so I had to wiki it to find out that the battle was actually episode 2.

Anyway, as I say, I like it but I think it needs to sink in a bit more.. I liked Lion-O and I liked what they did with Tygra and Chetara. Oh and I actually liked Snarf too... didn't think I would be saying that! I like the story set up too.. The basic elements are there but it's different.. it's cool. Looking forward to seeing Monkian and Jackalman... I wonder if there will be reference to 'The Mutants' or if it'll just be Lizards, Apes, Dogs, Jackals etc..

My only complaint would be how they introduced Mumm-Ra..

I mean, to me, it came across as though the way they were talking about him was as though he is a myth - no-one beleived in him - much like the idea of technology is a myth... and he suddenly just pops up in the story and everyone knows who it is.. and the lizards - a lower race - just pop up with technology too.... (I'm guessing this will perhaps be explained in later episodes but to do it like this in the first episode didn't perhaps come across as well as it could have done). I think it would have being better if Mumm-Ra had being an ancient enemy that Claudus' ancestors fought and he was thought long dead... he was a presence to the Cats rather than being seen as a story. Then him coming back all of a sudden to wage war wouldn't feel so out of the blue and wierd...

Gonna try keep up with this one, it looks like they've done an alright job with it.

Still loving this show, I love the depth they are giving Lion-O with each week he meets somebody that eventually teaches him something about leadership.

The last one was quite interesting actually, quite visually impressive and a very unique to the episodes of other shows I have seen. Pantrho's intro was awesome as it needed to be, can't wait for the next episode so i get to see more of him

I kinda like the show, I just wish they find any other type of civilization soon, cause wandering through the forest and dealing with magical creatures every week will not work for me on the long run, also more Mumm-Ra please.

So far, we have yet to be introduced to (in large numbers) the other two principal "mutant" races: the jackals and the monkians. Looking forward to that.

Due to the serious tone of this show, I suspect that the cats first meeting with "humans" will be a much, much bigger effing deal than it was in the original cartoon.

And that's what makes me miss the whole extraterrestrial part of the old show, but yeah I'm looking forward to the Thundercats making alliances and stuff, but Panthro coming back was a step in the right direction, so hopefully jackals and monkians (and more Mumm-Ra) will follow, and Mandora, just kidding.

I hope they still encounter some of the space characters like the space cop.

Something struck me when watching the last episode. Willycat and Willykit are thundercats yes ? So why do they have a tail and not the adults ?

Now they are thundercats but before the invasion they werent. There are two types of cats, ones with tails and ones without. The ones with tails were looked down upon im guessing because they were looked at as less evolved then the ones without.

Really ? Is that your explanation or was it told in the previous episodes or does it come from the original show ? I didn't even know / realized there was two types of cats.

PS : by thundercat I meant the cat race.

Maybe it wasn't intentional, but there are definitely at least 2 very distinct types of Thunderans: the ones that look just like humans with body paint and crazy hair, and the kind that are almost literally cat heads on top of a human body. Not sure how much of it is artistic licence or whether it was intentionally meant to create different ethnicities of Thunderans.

Then again, it might not even be a thing. Maybe tails fall off when you get older, or maybe some have tails and some don't, just like some humans are left handed and right handed.
