Another thing, that Keaton pic is an in-movie still.

Yeah, I kinda figured it was. Still, sometimes still (or shots that look pretty similar to those used in the final film) wind up being promo shots (like the shot of Batman holding the batgrapple like a gun for Batman Returns). Those are the best kind, imo.

I thought you might like that sig;)

Wow. Batman, with its big ass box office take(tell me he doesn't look like an absolute ass kicker in that shot), kicked of a very short lived wave including Flash, Dick Tracy, and (not pictured) the Rocketeer, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and also, ludicrously, tragically The Punisher and Captain America.

Now, its coming on the heels of a box office success in a market actually SATURATED with competitors. Damn. Oh well, more time has passed between the '89 Batman and the new Batman, than between the original Superman and Batman '89 (and yet Superman must have looked like an antique by '89...Batman still feels pretty modern, except for the lack of wire-fu, and the Prince soundtrack). Let's hope people aren't too burned out on super heroes by 2005.

Last night I saw some footage from the Batman premiere on Access Hollywood. Apparently Courtney Cox's dated Keaton for a sh-tload of years. They showed footage of the premiere in 1989 with Keaton and Cox. Keaton was wearing some funny looking suit that seemed like something from the Beetlejuice movie.

I think a Batman movie is as good as it's director. Burton krafted the '89 Batman to look Dark and gothic looking (the way he should be). Just picture Joel Schumacher doing the '89 Batman. Sorry for the brutal visual. It doesn't even compare. Tim Burton = Dark & weird dramatic fantasy flicks. Joel Schmacher = St Elmo's Fire + Cousins ...(don't get me wrong, 8mm was awesome)
Now Chris Nolan on the other hand has a few psychological dramatic thrillers under his sleeve....hmmmm, let see...how does Batman fit into this? Like a glove...If he can use his skills and give US what we want, this Batman will be the best ever. It will be the movie we have been waiting for for the last 18 years. Combine "Birth of the Demon" with "Year One" and the Neal Adams' Batman and there you'll have a really bizarre movie.
So I say this....the Burton Batman is the greatest...so far. But wait till the we see Nolan's creation....

I just saw Bale in Laural Canyon on DVD the other day, and he was pretty damn good. When his character discovers something rather unpleasent involving his loved ones, he goes a little crazy and it was rather scary to see. Couldn't help but imagine him doing likewise in a rather fetching Bat suit.

Hey Thanks.

SlamMan:
Then you must see American Psycho and Reign of Fire.
Our Bruce Wayne is "sort of"
revealed in American Psycho but I wouldn't go that far.

Cheers.

Have seen both and would certainly agree that the seeds of what could be a great Bruce/Batman performance are in there. I think there are quite a few similarites between Patrick Bat(e)man and Bruce Wayne, but the main difference I think is that while Bateman is resigned to his more animalistic and base feelings controling him and his actions, Bruce Wayne chooses to control his, and even use them to his advantage. Add in his BadAss performance in Equilibrium and it seems like a pretty obvious choice.

now that is 10x more intimidating and scary than any of the bale pics we got right now. damn thats bad-ass

Yeah, fifteen years later, this is quite the intimidating picture.

Bale's pics on the other hand look like they're part of a photo spread for GQ. Or those fashion photos where they list what the person's wearing in a caption off to the side;

Molded body armor: Calvin Klein
Cape: Versace
Gauntlets: Donna Karen
Cowl: Sean John

Bwahahahaha

that suit could've been alot cooler just toned down a notch (and minus buttcheeks and nipples) and with a more Matt Color. At least the new suit isn't black like that, with a High Gloss Shine.

Dude, that one's not even fair, Bale looks Badass, but Keaton's got the symbol behind, that's an auto win.

And now for the Forever spring catalog, Batman will be stalking the shadowy streets of Gotham in this totally fetching ensemble, part of Jean-Paul Gautier's Leatherdaddy Fall Collection!

When I was young and that pic came out, I loved the suit. It was a very nice suit excludding the nipples and molded ass!! The thing is, that I like about the new suit and the B89 suit is that they were crude. Makes it look more intimidating for some reason, maybe because it grabs a more realistic approach as to a overstylized queer eye for the bat guy suit:p But that suit wasn't bad for the context of the movie!!

*starts laughing* Oh my...I think I might have to say this in "leet" format.........

"M1CHA3L K3AT0N'S BA7MAN PWNS!!"

Okay, I'm done. :)

LOL!

i do like a bit of micheal keaton, and nothing can top the feelings of excitement and anticipation i had when that first movie came ut, i have so much batman merchandise from when that came out, but i think i like the fact that bales batman doesnt have a whacking great yellow bat symbol on his chest. what is that? to warn traffic or something?

bales batman looks darke, but i have to say i am having a hard time taking him seriously as a batman at the moment, i just dont think those pictures do him any justice, i want to see him in action. all i see is cape....and yes its a pretty damn cool cape but.....i want to see some torso, and jumping and stuff like that before i can judge.....keatons batman had better ears!

jesus will you look at his packet! im surprised it didnt hamper his performance!

i dont know how anyone can say clooney was the worst batman as long as val kilmer is around!

i think clooney COULD HAVE been a decent bat. BUT, at the time he was at the height of his popularity. and i think he believed his own hype. he thought he could grin his way thru it. kilmer wasn't bad as bruce, but he wasn't dark enough for bats.
