If they don't go with "The Amazing Spider-Man," then I'm fine with "Marc Webb's Spider-Man."

It surely separates it from Raimi's.

They can't go with "The Amazing Spider-Man" there's already licensed merchandising with that name on it, and it only belongs to Marvel. Increased sales for Marvel (not Sony) while they also get 50% from the films. Sony no likey.

"Marc Webb's Spider-Man."

That's not bad, I didn't think of that. But Sony likes for 'Spider-Man' to be the only shining star. Especially on posters, DVDs and merchandising. They don't really credit the director, especially having such an unknown director.

With Great Power

simply because of what ive seen so far is from that storyline

Yikes.

That was their source. Maybe that was the only Spider Man book the wardrobe department has ever seen.

It wouldn't change the fact that the above is darned ugly, but at least it would be an entertaining excuse.

Spider-Man: Origins, given the potential of this film touching on his childhood and parents, his origins and death of Uncle Ben, and his life and friends from HS that helped shaped his character.

After Batman Begins and X-men origins the name would be kind of cheesy.
Even thou the movie now seems to have a longer more detailed origin, I really wish that they wouldn't address that in the name, it's unnecessary

Yeah, they are running out of subtitles for the movies, I was actually surprised when they used 'Returns' for Superman, after Batman had used it, but quite a few years had passed, so, like you, I doubt they will use 'origins'.

How about...'Spider-man Starts', that sounds awful, lol, and sounds like Spider-man farts, so change it to 'Spider-man starts Spinning', which sounds like a cable tv knitting show, but that sounds, and smells, better than a guy farting for 2hrs.
They should just use The Amazing Spider-man if Marvel let them, i seem to recall that someone in the thread said Marvel did not give them the rights to that title, hence why they have not come up with one yet.
I always liked 'Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-man', maybe they will shorten it down to 'Peter Parker: Spider-man', or 'Peter Parker: Codename: Spider-man!' lol
Web of Spider-man is there too if Marvel gave them permission, I do like PPTSS though, who cares if it's a mouthful, folk are just going to walk up to the ticket booth and say 'Spider-man' anyway.

Actually, if they just used the subtitle from that comic strip that was posted it sounds good 'Spider-man: With Great Power..', and the movie focuses on him learning that lesson
and spends all it's time on the period of time that takes place in Amazing Fantasy 15, where he was a wrestler(Gamma Goliath said this in the JJJ thread, he might be making a living as a wrestler in the film), or they could even go down the route of him being a tv star like in AF15(which is v plausible if they are going more 'realistic' than 'idealistic' like the Raimi films, with all the reality tv these days), and what happens is he just happens to get involved with the Lizard as Doc Conners works at his school, and so over the course of the movie he learns he wants to be a superhero, and we also get the Uncle Ben plotline too, bringing that notion to a head, so he quits being a tv star after letting Ben's killer go free due to his big massive showbiz head.
Also fits with the spec that JJJ is not in the film, as he did not appear until ASM issue 1, and did not go after him until his tv career was over and he became a full time sh.

edit: sorry, that is what Knight Rises was suggesting when he posted the strip, I'm slow, sorry man.

Hope you're wrong on that. "Ultimate Spider-Man" doesn't sound like a movie. It makes sense for a monthly comic, to distinguish the book as being part of a particular publishing line. As a movie, though, "Ultimate" sounds more like a commentary on the quality of the film itself.

Still favor Amazing, Spectacular, or Web Of, but not opposed to the recent suggestion of "Spider-Man: With Great Power."
Well I don't really like the name myself, but I only believe they could possibly name it that, because of obvious reasons. Personally, I like Web Of for reasons I've stated previously.

BTW, here's another one for ya..." Peter Parker: Spider-Man".

You make a good point, and I agree half-heartedly; simply because, reasons stated previously, and because Sony is not beyond using similar titles. Again however, you do make a valid point.
