The Tobey Maguire/Peter Parker Thread

I thought it was prettty sweet of him to take pics later. It looks like he recognized the fan and wanted to apologize for what he did hours before. It all looked like it was arranged before, since the guard just showed Tobey wheree the guy was and he came. Maybe Tobs knew he was a fan after he got to the hotel and wanted to undo the act. Way to go, Tobey.

It's just a pity that this act will never get the same recognition the slap got.

Wow, thanks man! I want to see the Letterman interview again. I thought it was hilarious of Topher to come in and "sub" for Tobey. Tobey looked pissed when he came out (I know he was just acting).

Your welcome.

The following vids of Spider-man 3 promotional interviews and talk show appearances are now available here at the MisterMaguire Channel .

Tobey on Letterman (parts 1, 2, 3)
Tobey on Regis and Kelly
Tobey on Jon Stewart
Tobey & Cast on MTV TRL (parts 1 and 2)
Tobey on Leno (parts 1 and 2)

Enjoy.

I thought Tobey improved alot from since the first film . His acting was much more real this time around . He really shined for me as Dark Parker & Symbiote spider-man .

The fight scene in Osborn Manor between Emo Parker & Little Goblin Jr. (Was byfar my favorite Emo Parker scene) I bet tobey & James had fun doing that fight scene .

Followed by Emo Parker taken down Brock .

Tmags was BRILLIANT as Emo/Symbiote Peter. He pulled off the cockiness extremely well.

HOWEVER.....his portrayal as 'normal' Peter, although it had some good parts, came across as weak- definetly not on par witht the first two. I don't know, it just didn't 'feel' right.

And...um...minior gripe, you can definetly see he's put of weight around the face. Itwas, i am ashamed to say, very distracting.

I was....disappointed, as Franco did a better job as the NG, and i was certain he wasn't as good as Tobey.

Hey did any one notice a reference to Seabiscuit Tobey made during his talk with MJ after she upset about the review .

Peter : You got to just get Back on The horse

Mary Jane : don't give me the horse bit Peter

(I only notice's this last night after my fifth viewing)

this pretty cool

I thought that immediately upon the first of my so-far five viewings. Another cool reference to the biscuit...

When he's escorting Gwen into the jazz club, he says. "Hold the door pops."

Pops, his pet name for Seabiscuit in that movie. Probably unintentional, but cool nonetheless.

I also couldn't help but think on Jake Roedel as Flint Marko climbed out the window saying "I'm not a bad person. I've just had bad luck."

He's "not bad luck. (He's) just had bad luck is all." And. "Just a bad luck citizen finding out just how bad luck can be."

Nice to know there are other Tobey fans picking up on these subtle parallels.

Indeed.

In Terms of Preformance rating for Tobey

1. SPIDER-MAN 3 - 9/10

2. SPIDER-MAN 2 - 7/10

3. SPIDER-MAN - 5/10

I give him 8.5 for all films. I think he did good.

But he's getting old now.

Tmags seemed realy relaxed and had the composure I would have like to see in these spidey films. I guess, its not so much him but the sh1tty scripts he has to work with, ugh! although, he did an amazing job in sm3, so I guess I can live with that.

I agree, mate. He really pulled the funny lines off -- not just the lines; the little shake of the head to Bruce in the resteraunt scene was very good, very subtle, and very funny.

I can forgive the flaws in this movie very easily -- we have finally been given a Spidey film where the quibs are good . . . and not only are they good (and plenty) but they are delivered with class.
