The Twitter Thread

I just joined Twitter, and really only for work purposes, but I think it's hilarious that people who post 1,000s of times on a comic book message board find posting on Twitter frivolous. Posting on Twitter is basically the same as posting in a lounge here.
It reminds me of the guy dressed in a stormtrooper costume at a Star Wars convention calling the guy dressed as a Klingon at a Star Trek convention a big nerd.
In the big picture, it's all a waste of time. But it's fun.

I tried to make a new one just now but Holiday is already taken by Holiday Extras airport parking.

So I saw a political cartoon and a "Doonesbury" comic strip in today's newspaper that were both based around Twitter -related jokes.

You'd almost think that Twitter was something new and newsworthy or something.

Never joining Twitter, seems incredibly annoying and for people who think their lives are much more interesting than they really are. I have friends who constantly update their facebook status with things like their work schedule who are probably doing the same thing on Twitter and I just want to say "do you really think anyone cares". All those social networking sites, MySpace, Facebook Twitter I just don't see the point, it's all basically just email

I just like reading what Shaq has to say. hahah.

But a lot of my friends have it? It's kind of fun, in a way.... I also got into a fight with Jhonen Vasquez (Artist/Cartoonist) over Twitter lol. Then he blocked me :csad:
haha, what? a fight over what?

How to Tweet Your Way Out of a Job
I saw this exchange on Twitter, which is a painful lesson in how NOT to use Twitter in this tough economy.
A lucky job applicant tweeted the following:
Cisco just offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against the daily commute to San Jose and hating the work.

This tweet caught the attention of Tim Levad, a channel partner advocate for Cisco. To which he responded:
Who is the hiring manager. I’m sure they would love to know that you will hate the work. We here at Cisco are versed in the web.

Ouch! The person who dissed the Cisco offer quickly took their Twitter account private. But Twitter search retained the record.
This is another example of the need to be careful with what you post on Twitter, and social media in general.

The original post is the last one on this search:

yeah, but twitter is nothing but posts about every little thing you do all day. It's pretty much just the pic and status updates of facebook, times'd by 10.

i don't care enough about anyone to know that there walking there dog, picking flowers, looking for a missing shoe, etc... that happens in there life.

Dew, you are a milf. Moderator I'd like to follow. :D

Half my tweets are in Romanian so I wouldn't encourage anybody here to follow me but I do use it, and I do see it's practicality as long as you know who to follow and how to use it. If you're just jumping on the wagon because it's a fad you'll get bored with it pretty soon.

Twitter sounds like the dumbest ways to be nosey since facebook status messages. I'm all about Facebook and Myspace, but I've never been into blogs of any shape or form.

I refuse to buy into this latest trend. It's annoying enough when people constantly post what they're doing on FB or MS, but to now have a site for this sole purpose? Uh-Uh.

If I wanted to post or read short messages I'd text.

Do we really need another social networking site?

I just signed up for Christopher Walken.
