The "Ultimate DC Universe" RPG, Season 3.0: Sign-Up/OOC Thread

Pfft, you're a sucker then. Why do it yourself when you can have newbies do it for you?
It's like a "stranger" every time.

:o :csad:

You're sick. It's just odd. Odd and beautifu--

:csad::o

Can you IM me, I have something to chat with you about.

Here's an idea. Why doesn't Ultimate DC get some IC action?

No. It'd make this RPG alive. And G-d forbid we do that.

Here's another idea. Why don't you shut the **** up and make an IC post yourself, ya bleedin' hypocrite. :cmad:
I did the other day. And I'm making one right now, also. So...take that. *unenthusiastic gesture* Yeah...

I added you to my MSN list. So I'm waiting on you now. :cmad:

I did the other day. And I'm making one right now, also. So...take that. *unenthusiastic gesture* Yeah...

Sweet. You deserve a cookie then. You can pick it up from Master Bruce, but I must warn you. That's not chocolate. :o

...But then you swallowed it down without a second thought?
No, I repackaged it and gave it to you for Hype Christmas. But, in my defense, I really didn't know for sure it wasn't chocolate. :csad:

Apologies and whatnot for the complete lack of contributing to the game lately (which is sad, because I really do love UDC). Gonna get back into the thick of things now that most of the heavy stuff in the DC game is done.

Character You Would Like To Play: Selina Kyle / The Catwoman

Basic History Of The Character:

Selina Kyle experienced the horrors Gotham City's mean streets from an early age. Left to a foster home when her mother was murdered by her abusive father, who was subsequently arrested for the crime, Selina developed a stern hatred for men by his example. By the age of fifteen, however, her hatred cultivated into the mastery of a curious sport: thievery, due to the foster home's hostile enviroment and lack of nessecities. For weeks at a time, Selina stole food, clothes, and other valubles from local shops, simply to survive. Later discovered, Selina was kicked out of the foster house and left to fend for herself on the East End row. By eighteen, she was balancing a series of oddjobs, experimenting with various drugs, alcohol, and prostitutional habits along the way. But when she realized how low her life had become by experiencing near death after an overdose, she quickly abandoned her wild habits, determined to never become the person her father had become through the same exposure. Checking into a detox clinic, Selina's life was saved by Doctor Leslie Thompkins, who offered Selina a home and family. Becoming Thompkins' assistant, Selina saw what Gotham City turned innocent people into, and dedicated her life to standing up for the lower class of society. Using her pechant for theft, she assembled an arsenal of tools that would aide her in a quest to steal from Gotham's priveleged in order to give back to the poor. Inspired by the exploits of The Batman, who seemed to be the first 'real' man Selina had ever witnessed, she be built a set of razor gloves, crafting an extreme identity for herself in the same vein: The thieftress known as Catwoman.

Three Reasons Why You Have Chosen That Character:

1. Catwoman's never really been explored in this game, which is a real missed opprotunity in my opinion

2. I like street level characters. Jason Todd was my first foray into that enviroment, and Catwoman has the potential to take it a step further

3. Catwoman seemed like a natural choice, since she's got such a variety of interpretations to work with

What Do You Plan On Doing With This Character As A Person (IE: How are you 'utlimizing' him or her?): Instead of stealing for her own selfishness, I want to put a Robin Hood spin on the character. She's always had an underlying morality, and I plan to make that moreso in this game. What she's doing is wrong, but for the right reasons. I also want to, at some point, make Catwoman a street leader in some capacity, maybe even joining or forming her own gang of thieves.

Two Complete Sentences In Proper English Explaining What You Can Bring To This RPG (As A Player): I have a clear understanding of what I want to do with this character, whereas with Aquaman and Red Hood, I made it up as I went along. I also want to just expose Catwoman to the game for the long run, as she's been very scarce so far.

What Fonts Do You Plan To Use For Your Character’s Speech? (Makes the roster look better): Purple, Century Gothic Bold for Catwoman, Unbold for Selina

Gotham City's Museum of Natural History was home to some of the world's greatest artifacts and treasures. The works of every known artistic dynasty from Michelangelo, to Da Vinci, and even rare items from the artists Avanzini and De Carlo were prominently displayed upon the museum's walls, as apart of a nationwide and highly publicized tour through the country. Many burglarly attempts had been made on the collection... all of which had failed, due to high-end advanced modern security.

Yet when the clock struck midnight one evening, the security cameras revealed barren exhibits. Empty halls. And most notably of all, no sign of forced entry. Everything was gone in the space of minutes.

Upon seeing this, the museum's security guards spat out their early morning coffee all over the monitors infront of them. The two looked at eachother for a second, instinctively, but both knew what they had seen. Instantly, they scrambled to their feet and rushed out into the museum's lobby, guns draw.

"Tell me I didn't just see what I think I saw..."

"We both saw it, but... I dunno. Maybe they're movin' it all out to Metropolis early?"

"In the spaces of minutes? I swear, I only looked away from that damn screen to-"

"Oh, wait. Don't tell me. 'To grab a beer'? Heh... guess your wife is right, Charlie. Alcohol will get'cha into trouble."

"Oh, that's just hysterical, Mankewitz. A real laugh riot..."

Making a right, both guards entered the Myan exhibit. The entire room was patterned with bright red trigger points, signifying the alarms hadn't been touched. But for the most part, the room was empty. Turning on the lights, the guards looked on, confused.

"Christ. 'Cleaned out' is an understatement."

"Yeah. And it looks like nobody hit the alarms. Doesn't make any damn sense."

Mankewitz reached for his walkie talkie and pulled it out.

"Dispatch. Dispatch. We got a code eleven on the third floor. Repeat, a code eleven on third..."

Charlie turned around, exiting back into the hallway. "Keep an eye out, Jimmy. I'm gonna see if anyone's still here..."

Mankewitz just shook his head. He already knew there'd be no one there. Especially if this was a professional job. Someone had to have known the place well enough to slip in and slip out without tripping any of the alarms. One person or a group, it didn't matter. They were probably long gone.

"MANKEWITZ! I FOUND SOMETHING!"

Jumping at the loud yell, Mankewitz raced out of the room, only to find Charlie in the next. He was shining his flashlight over in the opposite corner of the room.

"What? What is it? Charlie, what'd you see?"

"It was over here..."

"What was over there?"

"Something. Something... it moved."

"Moved...?"

"You heard me."

"You sure you've only had one beer tonight, Charlie?"

As Charlie gave him a look, Mankewitz eyes widened. A dark shadow had passed them, just beyond the illumination of Charlie's flashlight.

"Oh my God..."

"What? What's the matter?"

"Jesus, you were right! There is something in here!"

Drawing his gun, Mankewitz raced out to catch it, with Charlie following in tow. The two guards barely made it out to the hallway to catch the dark figure, as it raced into the main halls.

"FREEZE!"

The figure stopped on the other side of the room, realizing he was caught. Slowly, he raised his hands, turning around as the guards approached.

"Hold it right there, pal! What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

Though the two guards couldn't see it... the figure had a wide smirk across it's face. The guards thought they had caught it. If only it were that simple.

"Actually..."

With a somersault, the figure leaped into the air at incredible speeds, sending out a lashing kick to Charlie as Mankewitz fell back in astonishment. With the crack of what seemed to be a whip, the figure promptly swung up, and grabbed onto the ledge of the overhead skylight. Grabbing his gun, Mankewitz held it up to try and shoot. But in an instant, he felt a sharp pain hit his wrist, as he realized something had ensnared him. Pulling with resistence, Mankewitz realized it was indeed a leather whip grasping him, as he tried to break free, but failed.

"I believe I was leaving."

Lashing the whip's tug out, a loop of the leather slunk down to the guard, and viciously hit him across the face. Mankewitz fell to the ground, a large gash on his cheek, as his attacker retracted the whip.

"Sorry I can't stay, boys, but I've got everything I wanted. Catch you soon."

Rubbing it's hand over the glass of the skylight, the figure twisted, and watched as a circular chunk of the glass fell out. Reaching it's arm up through the hole, it wasn't seconds before the skylight was open, and the figure was gone. Charlie came to his feet, still dizzy, as he realized the perp had gotten away. Looking over to Mankewitz, Charlie rushed to him, fearing the worst. With a loud grunt, Mankewitz eventually came to, as Charlie helped him up. "You okay, partner?"

"Yeah... where's-"

"Gone."

"Damn."

"Hell of a kick, too. That guy's gotta be hopped up on somethin'..."

"That wasn't no guy, Charlie."

"...What?"

"You heard me, man..."

Both guards looked to the skylight, amazed.

"That was a freakin' woman!"

Catwoman laughed to herself, as she raced across the Gotham City rooftops, basking in her newfound triumph. The extra weight of the stash almost seemed worth it, as she slugged the backpack over her dark costume, and leaped into the skies.

Well, now... this is a surprise. Selina Kyle, actually accomplishing something. I guess it's true what they say...

Every cat has to land on their feet.

The burn of a boiling coffee pot filled the air of half of an east coast Gotham City apartment complex. It's owner, 25-year old Holly Robinson, took in the auroma in bliss as it rejuvinated her senses, waking her from the previous night's sleep. Taking the pot and pouring some into a newly washed mug, she walked over to the couch and sat down. The entire apartment was quiet and mute, just at the break of dawn, as the rays of the sun radiated within the windows. Everything was perfect, Holly thought to herself, as she brought the mug up to take her first sip of the hot liquid.

It wasn't a second later that her serenity was interrupted by a loud noise, coming from the second bedroom down the hall.

Without thought, Holly jumped at the noise, sending a large portion of coffee all over her robe. Biting her lip at the pain of the burn, Holly squinted, trying to surpress a curse... but utterly failing.

"@%$&!"

With another frustrated moan, she placed the mug down, before ripping off the garment and dropping it onto the floor.

A large red spot developed on her thigh, as she sighed to herself, letting the pain pass. But even at this ungodly hour, when most in the neighborhood were sound asleep, she immediately knew who the culprit for the noise was. Damn it, Selina! It always has to be something with you...

For the past few months, Holly and Selina Kyle had been rooming together. While Selina was searching for a job, Holly paid the rent, hoping that the day would come when they could come to an agreement where they took turns on the finances. But ever since losing a spot in Gotham's Theatre group, shortly before the theater was demolished, her so-called 'little sister' had been developing wild habits, particularly at night time. And part of these habits seemed to be a never failing penchance for causing disturbances very early in the morning. With a sigh, Holly paced the room for a moment, trying to see if she could just let it go. But it took little time for her to assure herself that she had dealt with it enough.

Storming down the hall, Holly sighed to herself as she approached Selina's room. She hated getting on her case, with all she had gone through in the past few months. But at the same time, she was only twenty years old. She should be making her life more structured... embarking on getting a new job, new friends... maybe even a new man. Not spending every night doing 'god-knows-what' to herself, only to come home in shambles.

"Selina!"

She braced herself for the backlash that was to come, grabbing the doorknob and twisting it.

"Look, I know you've had a wild night, but I think you and I need to -- ...OMIGOD!"

Holly's jaw dropped at the sight before her. Lying on the bed laid Selina, weakly looking up from being draped across the sheets, dressed in torn black leather and staining the bed with a striking amount of blood. Even as Holly clasped her hands over her mouth in shock, Selina still managed to give her a dirty look, slipping into unconciousness.

"Whuh... one word... and I'll... scr... scratch your eyes... out..."

"Honestly, look at you!"

Hours later, and Selina was holding an icepack to her forehead. She was cut, bruised, and beaten in various spots all over her body, and the pain was almost numbing to bare, but she swore she could stand it all if she didn't have to listen to Holly's inevitable 'you're-beginning-to-worry-me' speech. Then, of course, Holly tugged on the wire she was using to sew up Selina's shoulder, which brought her back to the reality that she wouldn't be able stand it either way.

"And it's not even so much the fact that you came home like you. But you need to go to a hospital for this kind of stuff, Selina. I'm far from any kind of surgeon..."

Selina winced in pain, for a second, before responding.

"Sure. Go to a hospital to have myself looked at for wounds a wanted cat-burglar recieved just hours beforehand. Yeah, that's the smart thing to do..."

"No, the smart thing to do would to not be doing this."

Selina bit her lip. "Thanks for the advice, mom."

Holly shot her a look of disapproval.

"I'm being completely serious, here. And it's not as if this is the first time this has happened."

"I know that, Holly. And I know I'm not doing the easiest thing anyone's ever done... but I do feel like I'm doing the right thing. Isn't that enough?"

"It's theft. You really want me to answer that?"

"Oh, brother..."

Selina placed her head back. "You really need to look at the bigger picture with this. The people I steal from aren't exactly a group of bubble gum scouts. They're scum. They constantly take from the people lesser than them for their own benefit, and don't even bother to raise a finger when real hard working citizens lives are on the line. They need to be taught a lesson, and by the same token, someone needs to throw those less fortunate a bone once in awhile."

Holly shook her head.

"Then join a charity. Organize a relief effort for the homeless. Make a lemonade stand, if you have to. Anything would be better than risking your neck on a nightly basis like this..."

Selina sneered.

"Look, I'm only telling you this because I love you. You're still my baby sister, and the thought of you being shot at just because you want to help some --"

"-- just because I want to help some of the people who suffer like I did bothers the hell out of you. I know, Holly. I know. And I do appreciate the concern."

Holly nodded. "Yes, that's exactly it. Why do you think I agreed to make you some of those weapons? I could get fired for showing off some of those designs..."

"The important thing is, they worked. For a while, at least."

Holly raised an eyebrow.

"What backfired now?"

Selina smirked. "It's not so much that something didn't work as it is something needs to work better."

Holly sighed.

"If you promise to be more careful out there, I'll -"

"Cross my heart."

Selina smiled, playfully innocent. Holly sighed yet again.

"Alright. What is it?"

"The goggles. I need some upgrades on the readouts. They were going so fast that I could barely keep up, and if I'm going to hack into a security system's mainframe..."

"Okay. I get what you're saying. I'll take a look at it now."

Selina placed her feet onto the table infront of her, relaxing with a smile.

"Please and thank you."

As Holly began to walk out of the room, she noticed the latest issue of the newspaper under the door. Grabbing it, she quickly scrolled over the headline, and smirked, reading it aloud.

"'The Cunning Cat-Woman Strikes Again'? Looks like you're becoming quite a celebrity."

After a few moments of contemplation over the new name, Selina placed a pillow over her head, and screamed into it. If there was one thing she wasn't looking for in this, it was attention.

'Catwoman'? Ugh. As if the costume wasn't bad enough. Feel like I could just die...

Hmm. Okay, a couple of things I need to go over with you...

Firstly, Catwoman has been established in the game, abiet briefly. Charlie No-One had her working as a stage actress/jewel thief in a post made last season. Then, earlier this season, I had her in a chance encounter with Batman as she made off with some of a mobster's jewel collection. Though you don't nessecarily have to have her as an actress (maybe she quit? maybe she was fired? ect.), I'd like for it to at least be kept continuity.

Secondly, in regards to your app, I like it for the most part. But two things bother me. One, Catwoman doesn't appear all that different from her DCU counterpart, though I can tell you've made some slight changes. But I think more could be done in the effort of making her more unique. And while your sample isn't bad, you really didn't showcase much of Selina as a character. What you did with her doesn't really tell me how you'd play her in the longrun. I'd like for you to either add to the sample, or write a new one, so I can properly tell how your version of Selina would appear.

Just to be forewarned, I'm not trying to be hard on you. If you think I am, tell me. But I'll admit to being very overprotective of the character, given I've been waiting for someone to play Catwoman for a very, very long time, for reasons which are pretty obvious. I just want to be sure you can do it, and as it stands, that app doesn't tell me very much. :csad:

I can do that. Maybe the theater closed down and Selina is out of work. Which leads her on the path to take up her night time hobby...

I kind of dabbled with the notion of giving her metahuman powers. But in all honesty, that seemed pretty pointless. Though, isn't the 'stealing from the rich, giving to the poor' thing different enough? Selina only stole for herself in the comics, as far as I can remember... this kind of gives her more of a 'mission'.

Alright. I'll work on that soon.

No prob! I understand completely. I half expected the application to not even be looked over, since she's such a big character in the Batman comics, and I'm not exactly a name around these parts. :O

I can do that. Maybe the theater closed down and Selina is out of work. Which leads her on the path to take up her night time hobby...

As long as it's mentioned. I'm just not a fan of any further retcons in this game. We have a bad enough reputation as it is for those. :o

Point taken. I didn't even think about that. I just assumed from her troubled past that you had taken the same origin. But that's enough of a twist to warrant a new version, or 'Ultimization'.

Alright. I'll work on that soon.

Cool. Do that, and you'll be set.

Master Bruce, are you feeling okay? Posting as all three of your characters in less than a week? This is so...unlike you. :wow:

Just doing my part to upset the established order.

If I had known it was going to be such a big deal, I would've brought S'mores.
