I decided to get caught up on Rulk's activities since he's actually become a decent character as Ross searching for redemption rather than Loeb's mystery Hulk who punches the entire Marvel universe in the face. I bought World War Hulks and the two available post-Loeb Hulk trades. Just finished World War Hulks. It's... about what you'd expect from Loeb. Shoddy writing, simple plot, characters acting like idiots. Apparently the whole thing Ross is seeking redemption for is trying to take over the country with the Intelligencia and set it back on the right track--presumably with an iron fist--after all the recent disasters (Civil War, Osborn's Dark Avengers, etc.). Which is, you know... a really, really stupid plan for any marginally intelligent American, let alone one the comics themselves keep telling me is a "brilliant military tactician." I thought Ross just wanted redemption for trying to use the power of a Hulk to finally kill the Hulk, only to realize he had become an even worse monster himself. Which I suppose is basically the broad strokes of it... but man, trust Loeb to fumble on the specifics. Oh, and what's the deal with Samson? They mention that MODOK's controlling him to some extent, but he's a total d-bag. Also, he has mutton-chops and fangs for some reason now.

Anyway, Parker's tenure begins next. That I'm actually looking forward to.

Apparently Samson has a split personality that MODOK created so now that's why he's acting like such a dbag :csad:

World War Hulks was pretty awful overall but Parker's run should be pretty neat

It already is. I'm like 3 pages in and Cap already gave a kick-ass speech about the disturbingly common phenomenon of generals who can't follow orders, which made Ross fall right in line.

Have you read the Greg Pak parts of WWHs yet Corp? Samson gets some redemption and basic character development there, leave it to Pak and Parker to clean up Loeb's bile. actually the entire Pak segments were some of the best Hulk stuff since Planet Hulk.

Nah, kind of lost interest in Bruce since Betty came back and the whole Hulk family thing started. It was fine when it was Bruce attempting to bond with Skarr, but Lyra and Betty and Rick and whoever else they've managed to toss into the mix since then just makes it feel like the premise of a weird cartoon.

Definitely agree on the **** that Loeb did to the supporting cast and Pak's "Incredible Hulks" run was terrible to say the least. I think he peaked right after the end of WWHs, Though the Skaar/Hulk reconciliation at the end of that storyline was pure gold, it really called back to the Peter David stuff.

That's a good point

Doctor Doom never finished college as he melted his face off with SCIENCE

He's not really a doctor at all :ninja:

Doom not being a doctor is kind of a formality. Guy runs a country, which includes it's education system. He could give himself every degree there is if he wanted
