No. Being overly optimistic would be to say that WB executives would look at the movie's fairly moderate opening weekend, followed by the dramatically hefty drop-off that will inevitably occur as being the result of a strong demand in the genre, followed by word of mouth and the critical slamming they received due to the fact that the product they put out was poor.

that does not bode well....now the suits will think "oh the fans just want Batman or Superman because no other DC hero is worth it"

I really hope WB looks at the results realisticly and still try to open up a more hero franchise with the Potter franchise concluding for now. Still as a GL fan it's not that bad to have 1 awful failure of a live action movie. The 2 animated films we're great and the 2nd one even outsold Batman Under the Red Hood in 1 week due to the movie hype i believe, and we're getting the GL cartoon with Josh Keaton as Hal Jordan and Robert Englund as Paralax.

We better get Hal doing the Ocelot hand gesture.

GL bombing is the best thing for us fans in the long run. Because then WB can sit back, assess the situation and learn from their mistakes.

We're talking about execs here, not creative talent. Someone on creative would, hopefully, do just this. What will happen is probably exactly what BL said. It took them years to finally get this project off the ground while all their others have been stuck in development hell. It bombs/underperforms and you really think all of sudden they are going to change that tune, take the hit and simply reassess their options? Pretty doubtful.

Yep sadly your probably right

If the film doesnt do well then I doubt we will ever see any films not starring Batman or Superman ;_;

I get what you're saying.

But that's why i said "long run". We might not get another DC movie outside of Bats and Supes for years. But when they do come along, hopefully WB will have learned from their mistakes.

I mean, even studio execs can't be that thick skinned that they'll see their 300 million dollar budgeted movie get ripped apart by critics and bomb at the box office and still think they've done nothing wrong?

So remind me again why Time Warner owns DC? clearly they dont want to use it.

Well, by the time we get another property if GL bombs they'll probably all have forgotten.

Oh, they do use it. Merchandising is big, big business. Movies are a huge current trend, but never underestimate the power of toys and underwear.

Whut :dry:

And video games :up:

There's a green lantern game coming out and of course Arkham City

Hrmm....with my bills starting to increase thanks to my dad's incessant air-conditioning usage, I might need to forsake the reboot goodness DC is going through, which is pretty sad 'cause I was hoping to give some of the titles a try like Teen Titans and Justice League Dark.

To say nothing of saving up for the Q4 games...There's quite a few to go crazy for. Uncharted 3, Arkham City and Skyrim are definitely on my list.

Also, I need to upgrade to a smartphone.

Awww i hope you can pick up some of the series you want to try sandwraith

Justice League Dark does look fantastic. Zatanna Shade and John Constantine all on the same team together is sure to be a fun series to read and I cannot wait to see what kind of stories Milligan will be coming up with :up:

I like your style.

Arkham City is definitely going to be fab I love the character designs i have seen so far. Harley looks gorgeous :atp:

And I am really digging the sound of the plot. Love the villains they are going to be using this time too. Mr Freeze is getting some love! :up: really glad to see some of Batman's less famous rogues get to appear in the game as well as the Joker

Guys, what are infractions?
What threadbot calls taffying

They should of done that after Catwoman and Jonah Hex but alas.

I don't understand why Hollywood these days seem to think good solid scripts and Summer action adventure movies are mutually exclusive things.

I know how you feel ;_;

I spend way too much on comics. If such a thing is possible

On comics alone? Not likely. But we are of geek-kind. It never ends at "just comics". It's usually a combination of comics+toys+memorabilia+DVDs+games+(enter adult vice here e.g smoking,drinking,porn etc etc)+real world commitments= Eternal thin wallet.

I do have quite a lot of vices ;) though i think of them as virtues

And yep I buy all the toys. I love collecting DC and Marvel action figures and yep i still play with them

And also my little pony. Because friendship is magic :hrt:

Please don't remind me...I'm still trying to come to terms with why I actually have a favorite Pony (.......Fluttershy):csad:

As for virtues....Well, let's put it this way, if you're spending money on someone other than yourself, then yes, its a virtue.
