man of steel is already a lost cause, that's not even in question.

Yeah once Nolan left the project I knew it was going downhill. I'm not one of those "Nolan is God" people but I thought it would be good to have him there to pull back on the reigns a little bit when Snyder goes overboard.

Man of Steel is not completely lost though. They haven't even completed casting yet, you never know what could happen. We can expect a lot more action and fighting which is what everyone whines about, but how much is going to be sacrificed for story. Especially if Zod is once again the villain. I honestly don't understand what is so difficult about making a Superman movie, people spend too much time trying to make him edgy and cool for the kids, just make him Superman.

And what goes...

Like the number of shoulder and neck injuries at any one time.

Mark Gerrard's popped shoulder from being dumped on his head.

Amateur levels it mainly happens because people tackle wrong. If you go in properly you're normally pretty right, unless you get a stress injury like Johnny Wilkinson did because he was a mental 10 who'd try to tackle everything.

avoiding injury and being crazy only works if you Vandal Savage lookalike
Sebastien Chabal.

The movie looks dumb to me. Someone said to me "Oh you're just saying that because it's a bunch of girls!" Because Vanessa Hudgens in a movie just yells quality.
yeah, that's another thing that gets me. people keep saying they won't do action movies with female leads because they don't sell, but the shots they get are such utter tripe on every level that it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy. these movies would tank if god himself were the lead, it's nothing to do with a woman being in front.

Yeah my sister is like "If it was a bunch of guys, you'd watch it!" Except if it was a bunch of guys it would be Zac Efron and the kid from Hannah Montana.

yep. kids inherently like superman, he's a fun concept, but as with anything he's ruined by folks who feel the need to plus him up.

I don't know why they can't do story and action. It seems like a dying art though as only a few directors can pull it off these days in big budget blockbusters.

character driven action adventure movies should be the standard instead of the exception

Yeah, I mean I hate this whole thing where you either have to make a comic book movie hip and edgy or "real world". Superman is neither of the two. He is at the core Truth, Justice and the mother****ing AMERICAN way. He's cheesy, corny, and the nicest guy around. There is no angst with Superman. If you piss him off, he will punch you in the mother****ing face for messing with his city or woman. But at the same time, he'd be like "Oh are you ok?" and then he'll punch you in the face again when you sucker punch him. It's who he is, own it.

I think there's few directors that can pull it off. Spielberg has slightly lost his touch, the last Indiana Jones movie was average at best. A guy like JJ Abrams seems to be the new action adventure character driven guy with Star Trek and now Super 8, just get rid of the lens flares.

I think apart from the obvious sexism is that the women they cast are completely unconvincing as action heroines. Directors are more concerned about not smudging the actress make up and titillating guys with ass shots than having a women who looks like she can handle s***.

James Cameron is one of the few directors who can convinsingly do action women.

i'm with that, but at the same time tell a decent story. i don't think that's asking too much. some angst is ok, he's the last of his people...will he ever fit in...yada yada yada, but he's superman. if he wallows in self pity that's an earthquake or robot invasion that he can't save people from, he's come to terms with that and moved past it.

I'm putting Indiana Jones down to Spielberg being corrupted by the bad ideas disease George Lucas has been carrying for the last 20 years. Hopefully Tin Tin will be good.

you mean e.t./iron giant 2?:oldrazz:

My desire to watch Sucker Punch has been waning ever since seeing that 23% on Rotten Tomatoes. After looking over Rotten Tomatoes I find it funny that the same people who condemn the critics for giving it such a **** score would gladly bring these critics up if someone calls say The Dark Knight a bad movie.

I have almost lost hope for Man of Steel being any good :csad:

i can't decide if i'm going to see sucker punch or not. it's getting destroyed by critics (22% on rotten tomatoes) and compared to michael bay films, but folks seem to like it and i'm currious to see what a train wreck it is

I have already decided to go see it I think it looks and sounds fab

Agreed lix

Action movies with female leads do not suck

Crummy action movies suck no matter the leads gender

Well, we've already got the electronic books from Star Trek.

All I want is a damn Hoverboard!

Read the interview with Bryan Singer on CBM about his views Superman Returns rather intresting.

Not to mention cell phones, hyposprays, and the RGBT color system. (Red Green, Blue, and of course, Takei)

It bothers me when people think I'm being chauvinistic when it comes to movies because I'll be honest and face the ridicule, I love me a good chick flick.
