Oh 'Nubs

:awesome:

I would add Roller Derby to this list

Hawt girls on skates :atp:

Is Roller Derby an actual sport because I remember watching a Roller Derby show mired in Kayfabe plots so I figured the sport was kind of like wrestling.

Rugby beats the living s*** out of soccer because, well, you know... stuff actually happens.

Biggest complaint is new people trying to figure out the rules.

Meanwhile I'm watching the Melbourne Rebels beating the living s*** about the Hurricanes without Gerard or Huxley, and I have no idea how the hell they're doing it...

I don't feel so bad about the Brumbies losing to them now...

Pretty much. For example, when I randomly got into Aussie Rules Football, I figured that **** out in the first 5 minutes. I've watched rugby and I'm like "Why are they all hugging?!!?"

I only watch Rugby during the World Cup. Had a soft spot for France and Argentina only for them to be knocked out by S.Africa. I like the sport and how it makes use of decisive camera rulings and the fact that most of the players are actually afraid of the referee.

That's one of the big things about commentary. There's no point having in-depth commentary to explain a game to newcomers who still are grappling with the basics.

Likewise, basic commentary for hard-core fans will seem patronising and like the commentator has had a lobotomy...

I totally count it as a real sport

But I am not an expert on what the definition of a real sport is

Not so much afraid as actually respectful.

Ref probably gets treated better in rugby than any other sport. Maybe a martial arts sport instead... but it easily leads the way in team based sports.

The Scrum? It's...not that complicated...though I not exactly sure what the ruling on it is. Ownership of the ball if the ref can't make the call?

It's also the coolest thing about Rugby. I watched France drive New Zealand halfway across the field in the scrum in the last few minutes of an epic match. It was awesome.

I figured he was referring to mauling, where the hugging is in-play.

The scrum is for minor infringements like knock-ons (dropping the ball forwards) and forward passes self explainatory, also accidental obstructions (like when a guy accidentally runs into a teammate).

Bigger infringements result in a penalty, where the team has the option to kick to touch (kick to the sideline and get the line-out re-start down the ground - more common when out of goal kicking distance), kicking to goal (3 points) a scrum or a tap-kick (kicking the ball to yourself quickly in the hope of catching the other team off-side and out of position).

Wow... They just pummelled the Hurricanes.

Expansion teams shouldn't be as good as the Rebels have been (mind you they haven't really gone on the road yet).

Its funny how all these huge guys are so polite to a little ref in soccer people scream in refs faces

Soccer is good depends who your watchin play. My team Arsenal are oneof the most entertaining teams to watch or you can watch a team like wolves were there captain karl henry goes around breaking peoples legs

International soccer is boring as hell. Watching the premier league is exciting especially if you watch match of the day because thats the highlights with all the boring bits cut out and with intresting/fun commentary.

Scrums are boring they should get rid of them.

I only really watch six nations rugby. The only time I saw the rugby world cup was when england won and even then only say the last 10 minutes when johnny wilkson kicked to win it.

i can't decide if i'm going to see sucker punch or not. it's getting destroyed by critics (22% on rotten tomatoes) and compared to michael bay films, but folks seem to like it and i'm currious to see what a train wreck it is

I like how brutal rugby is like the fact eye gouging is a semi regular occurrence or they only banned tackling people in the air when they are trying to catch the ball a few years ago because players kept breaking their neck when they hit the ground.

I saw something the other day about some crazy high percentage of professional rugby players injured at any one time.

What happens if it tanks? Watchmen tanked, Legend of the Guardians was a disappointment in US Box office but did well Internationally, so yeah Snyder's charm seems to be dying out and this guy is helming Superman next!

man of steel is already a lost cause, that's not even in question.

Seems sort of meh looking to me. I may watch it when its on tv 18 months from now but I'm in no rush to go out and pay money to see it.

I bet it will make some decent cash though at the box office. People who go see those types of movies rarely give a damn what critics think of them

And what goes...

Like the number of shoulder and neck injuries at any one time.

Mark Gerrard's popped shoulder from being dumped on his head.

Amateur levels it mainly happens because people tackle wrong. If you go in properly you're normally pretty right, unless you get a stress injury like Johnny Wilkinson did because he was a mental 10 who'd try to tackle everything.

Snyder has been talking about toning down his stylized schtick for Superman. The guy loves slo-mo even more than Guy Ritchie

The movie looks dumb to me. Someone said to me "Oh you're just saying that because it's a bunch of girls!" Because Vanessa Hudgens in a movie just yells quality.
