My professor asked if anyone watched C-Span in class this Wednesday and no one responded. It's a good thing it's an online course where I can turn off my mic, 'cause I was cracking up. :funny:

What was Rubicon about
An intelligence analyst named Will Travers notices a code buried in the crossword puzzles of various newspapers one day. He brings it to his boss, who is promptly killed under mysterious circumstances. Will starts to look into his boss' death, which leads him to slowly begin unraveling a conspiracy with frighteningly powerful players and implications inside the intelligence field.

I watch C-Span if its a big speech...like a State of the Union or presidential address

I don't. Frankly, I thought it was a bit lame that my professor assumed everyone would've watched the State of the Union and asked a bunch of questions about it in class. I limit my daily intake of politician-babble to what I get on the radio whenever I happen to be driving around.

well what sort of class is it? if it's like a politics or current events type class then yeah, he should probably assume everyone watched or at least skimmed a recap of the state of the union

Introduction to Information Policy. Even without watching the State of the Union, I feel fairly certain that the president didn't talk much about information or libraries.

I'd say it's a fair to expect anyone to watch the State of the Union, especially students in an information policy class. The State of the Union is one of the most important samples of the president personally conveying information of the year, and how he conveys it important, even if what he conveys isn't.

I call bulls***. The State of the Union doesn't make a single bit of difference in anyone's life except Congress'. I had other s*** to do on Tuesday night, like schoolwork and *********ing. At the very least, if he wanted us to watch it, he could've put an announcement on the class site, like, "Hey, I'm gonna spend like half a f***ing hour talking about the State of the Union, so you should totally watch it." :o

and one of those activites only takes you about 45 seconds, so there is no excuse

plus, if you don't watch the President talk....you're a racist :argh:

I refute the underlying notion that hearing the leader of your country address your elected representatives about the state of your country doesn't matter. The rest is just you saying there is stuff you'd rather do than watch, which is meaningless; there is something I would rather do than literally anything I could name, regardless of how important it is.

It's an hour and ten-ish minutes, once a year. Quit your *****ing.

i hate obama's cadence when he talks, it's like bill shattner mius the awesome

I watched the Queen's speech at Christmas (I usually forget). It's only about 15mins long.

She knows she doesn't have the right to drone on for an hour.

If we had a powerless figurehead (besides the vice-president), I'd hope they only talked for 15 minutes, too.

Phft, implying the President isn't a figurehead.

the nice thing about being an americam is we have the right to not watch a guy standing there and talking out of his ass about stuff that wont happen :awesome:

Nothing's changed based on any State of the Union I've ever seen, so I reiterate: it's not relevant to anyone other than Congress. That's an hour and ten minutes wasted on the pretty words of some dude who won't matter in another few years.

I'm now skeptical you've seen any State of the Union. I will, however, choose to believe you are now trolling me.

Little of both. I watched a couple of Bush's and Obama's first one, as I recall. My family's very apolitical, so I didn't watch any before I got to college because I barely even knew that was something the president occasionally does growing up. Couldn't tell you what any of them were actually about because I tend to forget them and just follow the policies on my news radio station all year.

to be fair, corp went to school in florida, so you can't really hold him to the same standard
