Justice League The Wachowskis On the Short-List to Direct

It is Ruben Flesicher right?

Right...Quite the resume.

Zombieland. 30 Minutes or Less. And some MTV tv shows.

Yes... Zombieland. A critically acclaimed film by the general audience and critics -- making 60.8 million in 17 days (studio's budget made back in under a week).

30 minutes or Less, yes, a dud.

You may not be a fan but he's precisely the type of director that fanboys have been wanting for a JL film. He can balance drama and humor very well and pull together a great cast.

Gangster Squad is another good example of what Ruben can do. Prior to the Aurora Shootings, the film had genuine Oscar potential.

Let's see how good Gangster Squad is before we use it as an example of what the director can do.

With that said, how can you hate Zombieland? Does not compute.

Gangster Squad is getting 'buzzed' by a few top critics.

It's early, but I'll take that as a good sign.

Yeah, I've got high hopes for the movie and that is a good sign. Just don't want to be let down.

i don't think gangster squad was ever close to oscar potential lol

it does'nt look like oscar bait it looks like a summer blockbuster it is full of slow motion and what not

public enemies looked more oscar potential

We've only seen a trailer so far. Penn and Brolin in a flick can pretty much up the Oscar bait ante. And Gosling to boot.

Pretty much.

Brolin, Gosling and Penn were likely aiming for an award-worthy performance. Stone as well.

If WB placed Gangster Squad for a fall release, then I doubt it was a Summer Blockbuster. Fall releases are known to be Oscar bait.

Didn't it get moved to summer '13? Makes no sense for a movie like this imo.

These directors have only made one good movie and that is The Matrix. I love the Matrix to death and I still watch it to this day but The Matrix came out 13 years ago so yeah. The Matrix sequels were terrible and Speed Racer had great parts but unfortunately never came together. V is decent but far too heavy handed and I haven't had the urge to watch it more than one or two times. I think that they are lame one hit wonders so I hope that they don't get the gig.

I'm guessing Carrie-Anne Moss won't be playing Wonder Woman, then... :o

I see where ur coming from, but i loved V for Vendetta. And apparently the studio is going by Cloud Atlas. There's no way to tell now, but from the 5 minute trailer i saw, it looks beyond epic.

As "bad" and misguided as the matrix sequels were, they were/are still alot better than much of the fare we are given these days. For example Total Recall, The first expandables, SnowWhite..etc.

Moreover they were, all of them technical wonders.

As for speed Racer, I felt they hit their mark, big time. If I was a kid I probably would have enjoyed it. It was was it was supposed to be and that's what matters imo. I would rather WB just give them Akira and call it a day though.

I take it you liked Expendables 2? Lol. It pretty much smoked the first one. One name....Jean Claude Van Damme :woot:

Thank you I was thinking the same thing. The 1st matrix was the bomb. The 2 sequels were bombs. Their were 2 good parts in Matrix Reloaded. The 12 minute chase sequence with Morpheus and Trinity was incredible. The only other memorable thing about that film was Monica Belluchi's big round ripe italian ass in that white leather skirt.

I don't even remember Revolutions it was so horrible, all I remember was Neo be blinded & his christ like death pose at the end of a horrible film.

The Wachowskis are better at action films with one major character & supporting characters. The first Matrix it was about Neo, Morpheus & Trinity were in supporting roles. It was a great film, but when the story expanded they lost focus, the story became more dilluted until the entire thing became silly.

V was great because it was a story with 2 leading actors.

WB is a horrible studio when it comes to making DC movies I keep preaching that. They should be looking for someone who's great at combining story lines & character arcs in a 3 part trilogy. Of course they are going to screw a JLA movie up because they just haven't gone about setting the first film up in the right way the way Marvel did. They'll also be using a different actor for Batman which is incredibly stupid & possibly another guy for Superman which is also stupid.

For something huge in scope like a JLA film, I'd go with James Cameron. You can't argue with the man's record. Terminator, Terminator II to this day is still way before its time, you look at Terminator 2 & you can't guess that movie was made in 1991. He made over 600 million by telling the story of a sinking boat & of course Avatar. I think he would respect each of the JLA characters with Superman & the Bat leading the way.

The days of James Cameron working for anyone that isn't himself are long gone.

Not if he were approached with the right movie. This film IF done right could top his Avatar. It could be a personal challenge. It would be an incredible honor to direct the first movie where Batman & Superman team up.

Another thing I like about Cameron is he delivers strong women on screen. Sarah Connor was an ass kickin b___h you didn't want to mess with. I think he'd produce a similar Wonder Woman.

IMO Wonder Woman is the key to the entire JLA movie. If her character isn't done right, costume & if she's not taken serious & seen as silly & soft the movie will flop.

You say that WB is going to screw up Justice League... but at the same time you're suggesting James Cameron.

I say this with love for his early work (Terminator 2, Aliens, True Lies, The Abyss, and Last Action Hero)... ummm... HELL NO.
