Ep was ok.

But Andrea is starting to annoy me with the gun thing. She's really annoying

This was possibly my least favorite episode of the series...possibly because it's on the heels of 3 other episodes that I thought were lackluster. I was bored of the missing girl storyline by the end of the first episode. The lone zombie on the show was YET AGAIN just shoehorned in for no reason other than there has to be one. It didn't make sense given that they had plenty of water so it wasn't an emergency to get him out, the plan was stupid...it just shouldnt have been forced in. Unfortunately, it was the coolest scene of the episode.

At least now we know that Merle probably has her. In fact, when Daryl was looking in that house, was that her covered up in a blanket and he just missed her???

So, is the pregnancy the big secret that the CDC guy told Rick? He did test her blood. Pretty underwhelming if you ask me. I'm bored silly with "child in peril" episodes, and now we're going to get a looooong pregnancy storyline??? NO THANKS.

I kinda agree with all of this. It wasn't my least fav episode though.

I feel like a lot of people are saying with this ep what what I was 2 eps ago. It's just really starting to become apparent. The show's public momentum is working against it. We're all waiting and waiting but it's taking it's time to really move.

That being said the things that have happened are relatively huge compared to other shows.

That Andrea chic really irritates me. She wasn't like that in the book, not sure why they even bothered giving her that name. [BLACKOUT]Maybe later on she becomes good with the guns and has her relationship with the same person she did in the books.[/BLACKOUT] Till then I really hate when she's on screen. It's just like ok already.

I anticipate another huge ratings dip after this week.

This was the strongest episode since the premiere. I was surprised the "I'll have sex with you" line popped up.

Carl got Rick's hat. Yay!

And I liked how there were a few instances of forshadowing to
Hershel's barn. I think the zombie in the well may have been one of the family members. Hence the troubled look on Maggie's face after the plan failed. Then the hesitance with them staying, and shots of the barn.

I really liked the zombie plan from the well. There's not much to do, and it just showed how in the end how pointless and hopeless it all was, making them even more despaired. The fact that didn't get anywhere had a purpose. And I liked how T-Dog beat its skull in in frustration.

I agree this episode was the weakest of the season so far, but I thought Eps 2 and 3 were very strong, so this one was lacking by comparison.

Its just a bit of downtime is all.

Regardless of them getting the "swimmer"out, I wouldn't ever want to touch that water.

I can't wait to see Lori 8 months from now waddling away from even slower walkers hot on her trail.

The show is moving slowly. I don't mind that. I think my problem is whats being done during this slow build. Its a repetition of some of the same speeches and feelings over and over again.

I still enjoyed Last nights episodes but its all dragging to slow without enough to keep it interesting. And I don't even mean zombie kills or anything like that but some fresher character material.

I liked that they gave Daryl more character moments because we haven't gotten to see that kind of emotion from him too much. That was new.

The old mans guarded nature and the barn have me interested though. I agree with some other peoples theories on that.

1: How does T-Dog keep his head so beautifully shaved?

2: Carl got the hat...

3: Are all these people morons? If walking rotting corpse is easy to destroy, then one that is stuck in water is going to be as fragile as a cookie in hot tea. Being about to lift it at all was ridiculous.

The thing is, there is a difference between a slow burn and chasing it's own tail. Take the two other Sunday shows that I watch for example, Dexter and Boardwalk Empire. Both also use a slow burn story telling method. But the difference is, there is an actual payoff to the slow burn. At some point there needs to be a payoff. And I know that defenders will argue, "This show is about characters, not story!" or "There is no payoff to be had, everything is gone, it's just about surviving." And that is all fine and good, but it doesn't change the fact that this is a television show. It needs to tell some sort of story and resolution (then new stories and resolutions and so on). Even The Sopranos which was all about character, advanced their plot. This show needs to do the same.

This sums up my feelings on it very well:

I like how they incorporate some of the graphic novels, but I still prefer the graphic novels to the show. Although this season has gotten a lot better.

I don't know what more they can do this far in, I mean, they can't really be on the run yet with Carl's wound, he's still passing out from time to time it seems, don't think can just be moving him yet, so they have to give them things to do while there, so can take pretty much 3 ways, do it the way they have been so far, or they spend all the time fending off zombie attacks of the week type thing or pick up the story a few weeks later and just say it was all pretty much uneventful through then. Which I guess I wouldn't really have a problem with. There are only 2 more episodes before the long break I would expect all this Sophia business is going to come to a great ending with an even bigger cliffhanger making us all come back in February.

Oh and do they still not have permanent writers since "letting them all go" from last season.

That falls on the writers though. You shouldn't plan out an arc that involves a character becoming debilitated that the rest of the characters have nothing to do but wander around aimlessly for three episodes. I mean, really....if I skipped episodes 2, 3 and 4 and just picked up on episode 5 would I have missed anything at all that the previews could not tell me? The gang meets a kindly old farmer who tends to Carl's wounds, Shane kills one of the farmer's friends while getting medical supplies, Glenn boinks his daughter and Lori is pregnant. All of this I could be told in a one minute recap without really missing out on anything.

Ummm...I'm not disagreeing with you. Thats why I said things are just repetitive. Things don't seem to be progressing anywhere new most of the time.

Yea I don't think I can disagree, they haven't lost me in total boredom just yet is all.

I don't remember what the deal was with all the writers being let go from the first season, but they obviously had something that worked better overall that they seem to be lacking so far.

last night's ep was good but wouldve been a lot better had they at least resolved the Sophia storyline. They're doing a lot of character setup at the moment for when they eventually drop the bomb of
what's in the barn

Have the ratings been dipping?

I believe so yes.

Something I do think we all need to keep in mind is that the structure of Kirkmans books(especially his top two) has always been of the sine wave nature. I mean 4 months of talky nothingness and then crazy climax 5 main characters dead type stuff. Literally. This I'm hoping is only the result of the book being in TV format. I have a good feeling the only way the group is going to leave the barn is the same way they leave every camp they set up. Off guard and extremely violently with substantial losses....3 - 4 eps from now ugh.
In the mean time they'll be lots of walking in circles while we get to know the new characters...other characters will start shagging in stranger and stranger couplings, and of course, dramatic revelations will be had either by way of someone acting suicidal or someone preggers and things of that nature.

This last ep however was painful for me.

Well there was that point in the comics where she was mopey, sad, and angry right after her sister died. Obviously right after the gun training she becomes confident and starts being the kick ass Andrea. So hopefully after the next episode there's the gun training scene (Shane said about that one area would be good for gun training).

I just realized Maggie was played by the actress who was Vivian Volkoff on Chuck,. good for you Glenn :awesome:!
