I hate that they brought in the whole "Lori doesn't agree with Rick on killing a normal man" and "Dale freaking out about losing humanity" during this episode, when it involved Tyrese and the prison...
In the prison arc they had more resons to kill the guy than in the show.

Question: There are only two more Walking Dead episodes left in Season 2! Scoop me on this Sunday’s penultimate, please! —Britt
Ausiello: In what could be considered one of the series’ most important episodes, there are some gnarly kills made using a *i****o*k, Lori has a talk with Shane that she might wish she could take back, someone goes missing, Shane pulls a Tyler Barrol and a major piece of mythology is revealed (though the eagle-eyed may have first caught wind of it two weeks ago, at the school).

The Tyler Barrol reference pretty much confirms to me that [blackout]Shane's beating in the next episode is self-inflicted[/blackout].

And based on the detailed episode spoiler someone posted
he smashes his head into a tree.

That's actually a good point. As I've been saying, if 90% or heck, even 70% of the population is gone, it would be very hard to reorganize. People would, but since they would probably be so spread out they would most likely form small city states.

Honestly, look at the Greeks and the Romans. Both civilizations much more advanced in terms of technology and weaponry compared to the rest of the world, but collapsed in a realitively short amount of time.

But really, a lot of it would depend on who survives the aftermath. As I've said, it's all fine and dandy that we still have technology and medicine, but if you don't have the people that know how do adequately use these means...it could mean big trouble. One of the biggest population killers hundreds of years ago was not war, it was disease. Without people trained in how to use medicine, (or with anyone to make more antiobotics and medicines once stores run low) a large percentage of the populace would die off each year from sickness alone. That happens in third world countries today.

I was also thinking things would go back to the greek/roman days...how cool would that be...sorry but I love greek/roman lore.

Right away? How? what military's would that be? They've been completely decimated like the rest of society, if not more so, considering they were on the front lines during the outbreak.

You guys seem to be underestimating the scope of the outbreak here. There's a reason the doctor at the CDC referred to this as an "extinction event." You're talking like 90% if not more of the planet all being dead.

It would likely take generations to build back up population-wise to the point where you had enough people for a sizeable enough military and our government of the scope we have now. Entire technologies would go the way of Greek fire and likely be lost for ages.

the country would likely first turn into what you have in certain countries in Africa and the Middle East, where War Lords rule tracts of land and demand some kind of servitude in return for protection from other groups and the remaining zombies, who continue to be created by the way, since there's no cure for them.

My bad I was thinking there would still be military forces around and all the zombies dead. And if thats the case then military forces could be the new government and enforce the law and protect everyone.

I have a question, it has been revealed somehow that the ENTIRE world is infected?

The only real hints we got to the scope of the infection was from the CDC. It was mentioned that at least France was hit, since they were the last ones who had their generators running while searching for a cure. They thought they had it, but then they weren't heard from again. Also, Jenner did refer to it as an "extinction" level event, so you're left to assume it's worldwide.

I've read the comics, and yet I'm still lost about that last bit. Does anyone know what piece of the mythology we could have caught back at the school? I guess I wasn't paying enough attention.

I think they are referring to the conversation between Rick and Shane about the two bodies on the ground without bite marks or scratches on them. Leading to the conclusion that you turn into a zombie no matter what.

Interesting, I didn't remember much from the CDC episode. Thank you!!

Oh yeah, crap. I did catch that. For some reason I was thinking of the high school where Otis got munched on. But then I remembered that episode aired a lot longer than a few weeks ago.

If it was not worldwide I would think all the survivors would try and go to a place with no zombies.

Didn't the guy at the CDC tell them that?

We don't know what the guy at the CDC told him, it's just an assumption at this point. A pretty good one but still an assumption.

In the comics it was discovered that you did not have to get bit to be infected hence they are The Walking Dead

Yeah, I goofed a bit. I caught that part, but I thought the spoiler was referring to the high school Otis bit it at. My fault for not reading clearly enough, and noticing they were referring to the school from a few weeks ago.

At this point, I don't know what else Jenner could have told Rick, aside from the "everyone's already infected" part. It wasn't Lori's pregnancy, and I can't think of anything from the comics he would reveal about the zombies. Unless it's something new, created for the show. Which is entirely possible.

Yeah it certainly seems that Jenner could have possibly told Rick that the virus can be contracted without any physical contact (or reanimate corpses that haven't been touched/bit). However, I'm kind of surprised that they hinted at that last episode if that's it. And also why Rick is keeping it from everyone if that's the truth.

I'm thinking Rick tried to mislead Shane because, if Shane knew everyone was going to become a zombie no matter what, he might use it to fuel the panic in the group. Which he would use to try to convince people to follow his lead. It would really ratchet up the hopelessness of the situation, which is what he would need to get them to be more militant and ruthless. I'm thinking Rick recognized that.

I'm pretty sure when he says mythology, it's in reference to Jenner's whisper and what it means for this alive in the world today...

I mean...I guess. Though I don't know how much it really changes. If a person dies, their body can still be reanimated. I don't know how that would make it any more hopeless, since it still affects the dead anyways. If anything it'll just make them more careful about burying any members that die from non-walker related deaths.

Well, someone could get sick, die in their sleep. Older people could have heart attacks/strokes, or could just die naturally. There's any number of ways people can die without the people around them knowing, or being prepared for it. And then you have a zombie in the household/camp/whatever, without even knowing it. If I was there, I would be really tense about that. You don't expect people to drop like flies out of natural causes, but you just don't know. And people are always afraid of the unknown. It turns everyone there into a potential danger, without even involving the zombies outside.

That's why I wanted Randall to get hung, and then come alive again as a Walker...

Would have been awesome for that reveal for the show.

Just read the big episode spoiler for next week..... CANNOT WAIT!

Carl shooting zombie Shane though doesn't quite have the same impact of him shooting human Shane, but it's better than nothing I guess!
