Was Sam's death the first on-screen death of a child in the show? Not counting Sophia, since she was already a walker, and we didn't actually see Lizzie kill Mika or later get shot herself.

Might be. We've seen child walkers but not an actual death, not like that. :(

I don't have cable anymore; get my Walking Dead fix via iTunes. Do you (or anyone else) know where/how I could watch Talking Dead? I miss geeking out with Hardwick and Co after the episodes.

I don't think they're officially released online without having to sign in via your cable provider. But I would assume there are torrents of it available.

I'm glad the show actually had the balls to do something so intense from the comics for once. Stuff like this is what's been missing from the show. Genuinely shocking moments not just for the sake of it, but because it's built on the characters we know so much. I get them doing their own thing, but usually it's not as good as the comic. Sometimes you can't beat the comic and it's resulted in a weaker product. Season one had a nice balancing act and they seem to be going back to that. For all the criticism I give to GOT, at least it has the sense to not outdo Martin's character death scenes and shocking moments for the most part. I'm just glad they finally took the chance and they delivered. But it had a great episode all around to justify that moment too.

Pretty sure it is. Prior to to him I think the youngest on screen death we saw was Lizzie.

Rick went H.A.M

Screw up Spencer, Turncoat Gabriel and Eugene stepped up in this episode.
In a sense, that's Carol's fault for saying those things to him.
Carol psyched him out.
Rick got the whole squad behind him
Rick's Skwad roles deep.
Glenn ... You are the LUCKIEST.
Hershel's lucky watch is like the bracelet from Stan Lee's Lucky Man.
Abraham and Sasha Ex Machina!!!
Abraham just wants to know who everyone is :woot:
wolf Dave Grohl all cleaned up and an Aussie on Talking dead
His brother is an actor. He was in the Twilight films
sorry ron and sam but i'm really glad you died and jessie too. You guys just got on my nerves and I never could get invested. And I was afraid I was supposed to be liking them So that's a relief that it was okay I didn't! And no I didn't like Jessie either

Jessie was unlucky. *****ebag husband and weak ass sons.
Sam wasn't cut out for this world.
Ron was just a little b*****. If Ron put as much effort into protecting his family as he did trying to murder the Grimes then he might of kept them alive.

I actually forgot that Lizzie's death was uncensored in the Blu-ray version, but it cut away in the version that aired.

We probably won't see him until the finale

Yeah, I wonder how much of the budget is going to such a high profile actor? I still adore the choice.

I did too. :ninja:

It's funny though because it was Denise who changed him and not Morgan. :hehe:

She was a rock!

I had a feeling Daryl was going to take out homeboy behind the truck, they underestimated his potential to kick some ass.

I work Sunday nights so I have to catch it on DVR in the wee hours. I missed the credits where it listed the director, but once the townspeople came out to join forces and those bad ass camera shots I knew it was Greg! Yes, lawd! :hrt:

What an episode. This is what the series needed. I'm glad they decided to follow the comics. It was a good move and I think there are gonna be more tense, epic episodes on the way with them bringing Negan into play. Can't wait to see where they go with the rest of the series.

Pond fire will attract Negan and penance will be needed. I'm thinking Daryl.

Holy s***.

I kept thinking it was a dream sequence because of how sudden those deaths were. Wow!
I thought that, too, about Sam. Then I was like, damn.

Antiquing? Really? Lol
I laughed my butt off. He's totally growing up gay. Which is fine, but it's obvious.

I can understand Ron's perspective. He couldn't accept that his father deserved to die and from his pov, everything bad started happening when Rick and co. showed up, and nobody would be in the right state of mind after watching their younger brother and mother mauled by zombies.

But that's me, always defending the unpopular characters.

Nicotero explained the gunshot wound pretty well. The bullet grazed the eyesocket causing the bone to shatter and explode. The bullet ricocheted outward so the brain was spared but his eye is kaput.

Good post from his POV. It's definitely understandable. But f*** him.

He was a little s***, but I don't think his actions were without their own logic.

Looks like it didn't hit him straight on; more like it hit him at an angle from the inside to outside corner of his eye socket.

In the episode this camera shot was shocking (I actually jumped up from my couch), but that gif sadly shows how computer generated the eye socket is; you can see how much it "jumps around" from not being properly matched to his head movement. (Not a dig at the show; it's amazing what they can do with the budget and time they have; just interesting to note and see signs of how they did things)

Rick's decision to take on all those walkers by himself was idiotic. The way everyone went to join him was equally idiotic. what were they planning on doing when their arms got tired?

It was sort of strange how none of the zombies attacked the Wolf and heavyset woman when they were talking after he'd been bitten.

It doesn't make a lot of sense that the zombies surrounding Rick decided to abandon him after seeing fire. Why are they turning down a free meal right in front of them?

Darryl taking out those bikers was spectacular. I couldn't stand their leader and was so pleased to see him burst into flames.

Watching poor Sam's nightmare come true was devastating. I can't figure out how the zombies figured out he was human, though. It didn't seem like he was being louder than anyone else.

Baby Judith was adorable. I liked what Father Gabriel said about how God would give them the courage to take their town back.

Rick's decision to stay was good. That's something I've heard this show needs: to see the survivors rebuild civilization.

In spite of all my criticisms, I thought this was an enjoyable episode.
