This weeks ep was like a sedative for fans after last weeks trauma. I thought it was ok, I like Ezekiel and I think his dynamic with Carol has potential.
I did want to see how Rick, Maggie and co are doing after last weeks horrific events, however it seems we wont see them until at least ep 4, but next weeks ep with Daryl in the compound with Negan looks intense.
The problem with the complaint is the source: the Parents Television Council is a religious conservative watchdog group that acts like the town council from Footloose over anything on TV that isnt on the Hallmark Channel. Plus they love the free press they get whenever they go off on whatever is popular on TV right now.
Nothings going to come of that complaint....people who swear by the recommendations of the PTC arent watching TWD. And the PTC got attention, which is what they really wanted anyway.
Hey now, lets not bring the Hallmark channel into it! Groups aside I am sure many parents were disturbed by the episode, not just the nature of the violent acts, but the prolonged nature of it.
I'm not saying the show should or will have any repurcussions for it, I am just saying I could understand the other side of coin, I felt it went beyond the expectations of a TV MA, kinda like seeing a R rated movie and it sneaking in some NC-17 content.
Honestly, as brutal as it was, I didnt think it was worse than stuff thats already happened on the show. It hurts more, because it was characters we loved. But this shows always been cruel and disgusting.
The thing that made it worse IMO was it was human on human sustained cruelty and brutaltiy, the act of one human smashing another's head into pulp, and like you say heightened by the fact it was Glenn and that it happened in front of Maggie.
I've seen my share of horror flicks, but I didn't even make it through AHS:Hotel after seeing:
Multiple characters killed via explicit sexual assault. Another character was tortured by having his eyes and tongue cut out, while having his hands impaled on a headboard while also given drugs to keep him erect inside of a corpse.
I checked a bit of this out to be able to give a proper opinion, and it is certainly grotesque and horrible, but it's like some nightmarish cartoon, which removes the human aspect and just becomes some vile excercise in twisted imagery, where as what happened in TWD felt raw IMO.

I can understand your POV. Negan's executions were more realistic, but the AHS:Hotel premiere was more sadistic and gratuitous. If I can draw a movie parallel, I'd call TWD a "hard R". AHS was like a gory porno, and I was shocked that the censors allowed it, even with the content warnings.
Not a chance. And thing is, I would be fine if they even did what AMC did with Preacher: have Jesse actually say the word, but just 'mute' it out. That could get annoying, given how often Negan says the word, but I like how the show manages to keep him as foul-mouthed still.
This season has been really strong so far, last week with Daryl holding out was good and this weeks ep was dripping with tension, everything between Rick and Negan is intense.
I read up on where the comics go from here and I hope the show doesn't follow suit, Negan is a menacing villain but I think his act can get played out if stretched too long. I hope he's killed off before they do the Whisperers.
