I was bummed when I heard Lauren Cohan was leaving but Maggie is expendable. Everyone is, except Rick Grimes. It's his story we've been following since the beginning.

Giving Daryl the lead is such a boneheaded idea. He's not a leading man. It's going to get old, real quick.

I'm still thankful to Andy Lincoln and I can't fault him for leaving. He gave us nine seasons.

I am too. This is one of those rare occasions when the show should cater to the lead and just end when they go. No one is blaming him. It's not like he's leaving the show in its prime.

This is why you shouldn't have killed off Carl! He could've carried on his fathers legacy as he should!

I wonder if that has anything to do with Lincoln wanting out. It's pretty much been unanimous among the viewership that killing off Carl was a bad move, and in the process the showrunners seemed to have kind of screwed over the actor that played him.

Agree so much with this. I like Daryl but he ain’t leader material, the guy barely speaks! I think I will watch Rick’s last episodes and then stop watching this show as without him it’s just not worth it.

As much as I love Reedus I have to agree. I can't see me watching this much further. I already dropped Fear. I think zombies may have run their course.

Reedus is a great actor playing a good (still?) character but no, definitely not the lead. He's a co-star/support/sidekick and not the main star and shouldn't be.

he has the greatest agent in Hollywood.

Danai's contract is up at the end of 9, so probably a good chance she won't return either. Could be wrong, but they boosted Reedus salary to 20 million, so either they boost her significantly or, I see her walking too.

I could see them paying Danai 250 K tops an episode. She def seems busy with being in the MCU and is writing a lot of plays. She might continue just to keep her financially secure to work on projects she really enjoys. Then again, I'm sure she will be making some good $$ for the next two BP films.

I just heard the good news that Rick is finally gonna be gone. I wish this hadnt been announced but tha they'd just kill him off and make it surprise. That would have made the death that much more rewarding

If they didn't announce it, the news would've gotten out anyway or word would've started popping up like the whole Lauren Cohan negotiation stuff. You don't just sit on big news like this, especially given that it's the main star. Fans would've been upset whenever the news dropped. But the show is AMC's bread and butter to the point that other shows are advertised through it, such as previews being hidden in the first few minutes of Into the Badlands.

Though the show's Comic-Con panel will be interesting for sure.

As for this show, it's time to end it. AMC are kidding themselves if they think they can continue on without Andrew Lincoln. I'm sure people will tune in to see how things end with Rick, but after that, it's going to be a steady decline until the show is cancelled.

The show could have continued years ago when it was actually good without Rick but it sucks now and has for a while. Losing Rick wont make it worse. Its already been on a decline

So I have run across this theory that Daryl will leave Alexandria and possibly take Carol and a handful of other series regulars with him to strike out on their own from the direction of the existing comics.


It might have been a good idea a few years ago and it may help the series shamble on a little longer but I still am on the fence that Daryl could lead the series. I think if they tried it now it won't work. Too much of the audience is lost and the story padded out way too much.

All of that is gone anyways since Gimple killed off Carl which was another major departure. I've never read the comics and haven't watched in a few years but this kind of news goes everywhere.
