The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 6 "Live Bait"

The hell with it.

I want the Governor to win.

Just kidding. But I did really enjoy this episode. It was really interesting seeing him in a position where you were compelled to root for him.

One thing. I'm almost positive that the woman we heard him talking to at the beginning of the episode was Carol. Anyone else notice that sounded a LOT like her? And I'm pretty sure she never met up with him at any point, so she probably wouldn't recognize him (though one would think that one of the other people at the prison who did know him would have said something to her like, "Watch out for a big guy with an eyepatch").

I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be him talking with the two women.

I think they WANT us to think that, but go back and listen to it again. I'm almost certain it's Carol.

Also. Watching this episode, with the Governor looking gaunt and disheveled more or less made me convinced that David Morrissey should play Roland Deschain in a Dark Tower adaptation. He'd be brilliant.

The Governor has gotten laid on this show more than Daryl has, and Daryl has a f***ing motorcycle.

I like the three dimensionality of the show Governor, but I don't know how I feel about him turning into a big softie this episode.

I think it works when you consider that even when he was at the height of his power and mercilessly gunning down soldiers, he still was clinging to that last shred of his humanity - his daughter. I don't think he would have given the family the time of day if they didn't have a daughter who reminded him of his own. I think he feels like she's his shot at redemption; she gives him something to care about and protect again.

However... if something happens to her... watch out.

this episode was boring. the governor was pretty boring before, now they've made him more boring. there are ways of making characters three dimensional and still have them be villainous through and through. modern pop culture doesnt understand that. all the bad guys now a days have some sort of empathetic aspect to them. give me a real bad guy....someone we can have fun hating.

i'm 99% sure it's carol.

it'll be the biggest shock for the audience. she's pretty much the one prison crew who never saw his face. Plus she's credited for 48 episodes.

it's her.

The Governor hasn't really changed. It's perfectly possible to be nice to kids, and still be a monster (see Hitler... not to prematurely evoke Godwin's Law). Just wait.

will suck if it's her, we've somewhat seen that story already with Andrea, the whole 'who him? nah he isn't evil lets talk things out, I'm sure once you know "Brian" you'll see he's full of great ideas,

I find it really hard to believe Carol banished and all, would be all about helping take the prison, shooting at Daryl, Hershel, Maggie, Glen, Beth, little Asskicker.

If Abraham isn't with that group they ran into at the end tonight, I'm hoping she runs into his group.

If it's Carol he was talking to, that's a real character assassination for her.

Not that I'm all that worried about that, as it's probably not her. :o

I can't help but feeling like these strides to make him sympathetic will be in vain by the time the season's over. We pretty much know that the Governor will attack the prison and has probably already started with feeding the rats to the walkers (he likely has a man on the inside; maybe Bob). Unless they're planning a big reversal which would be surprising.

It won't be quite like Andrea.

She will tell him about the prison. They will go there (for whatever reason). And [BLACKOUT]he will cut her head off.[/BLACKOUT]

Although listening to the dialogue again, it probably isnt her. The woman's voice calls them "monsters." And so does the new family.

He found a new daughter to cling on. This should be interesting.

No wonder why the trail went cold. He's been wandering aimlessly since Martinez abandoned him.

Great Episode ! Governor-wise the series is so much better than the comic and David Morrissey kills it ! He should play either Roland or Randall Flagg in a Dark Tower movie.

ps : by far 3 of the best zombie kills in the series with Gov in the pit.

I loved it too but then again I like the Gov. Looks like next week will be another episode focused on him

Wow... I can't believe it. I was rooting for the governor throughout the show. :woot:

The Gov just confirmed it.....the bad dudes get all the chicks :word:

So ...episode 7 "Dead Weight" is focusing on the governor again. Hope "Dead Weight" is not referring to the Gov's new family.... :csad:

Then we get episode "8" ....afterwhich we have to wait until march for the remaining episodes ? Holy cow...... I reckon episode 8 will end with Rick and Daryl going separate ways... :wow:

I laughed when the gov just side stepped that zombie as if to say 'nope' :)

David Morrissey has always been better at playing nice guys than villains.

Anyone else think The Gov might be at the prison because it is the only place he knows is safe?

I loved this episode. That's what I love about The Walking Dead. It's a study of humanity. Seeing this side of The Governor was a real treat. With the glimpses from the next episode it's becoming clear how he makes his way back to the prison again.

This episode also surprised me. I was convinced watching this episode that he'd end up killing the family and taking their stuff for himself.

This was probably one of the best episodes of the whole series hands down.

Agreed, i don't think he's very convincing as a villain

10 minutes in this ep. I thought by the end that family would die by the hands of the Gov, but he really seems sincere about "turning over a whole new leaf" (especially concerning Megan). If something happens to her old Phillip might return for good or worse. The theories and predictions made on Talking Bad about the reason why the Gov. returned to the prison were interesting. Like he might not be there just out for revenge.
