The Walking Dead The Walking Dead, Season 5, Episode 15 "Try" Discussion Thread

I wonder if Daryl would have intervened during that final scene if he was there…?

Hard to say, just because he was at odds with the idea of staying within that community from the start. I don't think he would let anything happen that would jeopardize that sanctuary for his friends, but if he knew what kind of a guy Pete was, who knows...

LOL, looks like a true English major as been editing the Rick Grimes wikipedia page. :D

Rick heads out to see the fence itself and find his hidden gun is gone and kills a pack of walkers with Carl but is sloppy from self-doubt in what Carl said earlier and arrives in time to stop Glenn and Daryl coming to blows with Aiden, Deanna's son, and Nicholas and Deanna decides to make him and Mihconne the community's constables which they accept. Later Rick tries on his uniform and addresses Daryl and Carol on what Carl said and states that if the people can't hold out for themselves they will step up instead. The group instantly lost confidence on Rick and decide to kick him out of the group. Carl do not like this and leaves the group with his father. Daryl see how the group is dividing and also leaves the group. Michonne becomes the leader and tries to keep calm but Deanna say she was the only leader.

Heh, yeah I was trying to figure out the symbolism of the red balloon. I think it's a reference to 99 Luftballons (or 99 Red Balloons). That song tells a story about pilots shooting down balloons as a joke, which sparks a 99-year international conflict. In the end, the narrator, walking through the ruins, lets a red balloon fly away into the air.

I'm guessing that here, it's reflecting how small things can build into monumental disasters. In other words, sh** is about to REALLY hit the fan.

I don’t agree with the Rick is becoming Shane/Gov. argument either and Rowsdower! pretty much covered it with his post. Rick was giving Deanna and Alexandria a reality check, which they all needed. And I don’t know why some think Rick’s rant is putting his group at risk of being exiled. When Rick’s at the most risk of being banished. Especially going by Deanna’s remarks towards Rick during his rant.

I never really trusted Deanna to begin with b/c something seemed fishy about her I mean she knew about Pete beating Jessie and Sam, but didn’t do anything to put a stop to it b/c he’s Alexandria’s "gifted surgeon". She debriefs that lying weasel Nicholas about what happened at that warehouse that resulted the deaths of her son Aiden as well as Noah, and an injured Tara, but didn’t debrief Glenn or Eugene? How one sided. Hopefully Deanna sees right through Nicholas’ BS since she claimed she was good at reading people.

So Nicholas was the one who stole Rick’s hidden gun and then had the nerve to hide it, where he can only get to it. He must have something planned for Glenn I fear. At this point I can tolerate Gabriel more than Nicholas. Hopefully Glenn takes him out before it’s too late.

Can’t say I was impressed with how they handled the abuse subplot. Jessie and Sam never showed signs from being abused. They also don’t really act like victims of abuse either. Just poorly written and developed. The fact that Deanna knew about it didn’t help.

Rick might have been telling truths, but doing so looking like a goddamn lunatic, bloodied from a brawl that just got taken out into the street, and holding people at gunpoint wasn't the way to do it. Just like Gabriel wasn't wrong to warn Deanna about the group last week (Rick had the idea for a coup in his back pocket from minute 1), but making himself out to have clean hands and acting like he would even be alive if it weren't for them was wrong.

Maggie has really had nothing to do these past few eps.

Great episode. Does anyone think the person who Aaron and Daryl were following is Morgan?

very strong possibility but it would be the other way around. the last we saw of morgan was him finding that message of going to dc because the new world wiill need rick grimes.

That was great stuff, Rick is so awesome now, wish he had been like this from the start, and what the hell Michonne at the end?

He physically shoved Carl away when he was trying to break the thing up. He needed the KO punch.

The fight had stopped soon after that though, I think Glenn and ?Michonne could have talked him down but who knows?

Thought it was a bit of a betrayal myself, love Michonne but if anyone could have talked Rick down it would have been her. I didn't think she needed to knock it out.
knock 'it' out, lol. anyways, that bit was comic book accurate.

Alexandria is just like the hospital but on a bigger scale. You have people doing criminal activities but getting away with it because they have a skill that others don't. (Rapey cops, drunk doctor). You have a leader who believes there should be a system in place but turns a blind eye to the criminals. And we'll probably have one of Rick's group killed in the ensuing showdown.

alexandria not unanimously want their leader out of the picture like the hospital did.
Lol good old iPad auto correct! Ah, never read th comics so just judging on what i saw.
i didn't read them either but 2 of my best friends are hardcore. They're loving what's happening on the show but it's not surprising them.

I think andrea's comic book arc is being split on the show between sasha and [BLACKOUT]michonne. i'm expecting her to hook up with rick once jessie croaks.[/BLACKOUT]

I think so too. Oh well I'm just sick of Sasha not a fan of her.
