The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 5, Episode 7 "Crossed" Discussion Thread

Seasons 4 and 5? Because season 2 had a jet pack strapped to its back? And that build up to the "war" with The Governor in season 3 was rapid fire?

If anything, the issue with this season was with structure...showing us that Daryl returns to the group like 3 episodes before he did...the anticlimactic "I'm not a scientist" reveal...the structure of the episodes turned many people off because it was giving screen time to people like Beth and Abraham, who few of us care about.

I wasn't talking about those other seasons though, was I?

But yes, pacing has indeed always been a recurring problem on the show. The first three episodes of season 2 were fast paced, and then we had four episodes of ********, followed by another one or two slow ones and then another four fast paced ones. Then there's season 3, which had an excellent first half and then squandered its second half.

The point I was trying to make is that seasons 4 and 5 have been even more all over the place than prior seasons. And yes, structure is also an issue - they can't seem to stick to one.

There's a key reason season 1 remains the best - length.

No, I"m genuinely confused about what you expect out a tv show like this if character development, action and set-up for an explosive mid-season finale is not it.

I'm with slimshady, I didn't even notice very much character development in this/these episodes either. Just a hell of a lot of unfulfilling filler. I'd go on to explain but I think he's done a pretty good job of explaining it himself.

Haha, thanks. :highfive:

I don't know...I really connected a lot with the characters this season and thought they were explored quite well.

The last few episodes have been slooow. I enjoyed this one a bit, but I can agree that there has been a ton of build up with not much pay off. Each episode has some good moments, but I don't feel like I've seen a really all around strong episode since the first one of the season. The Carol and Daryl episode has probably been my favorite, besides the first.

And oh my gosh Sasha. That was a stupid mistake. Totally predictable. I knew we couldn't trust Agent Sitwell.

that was my biggest gripe with this entire episode. how can these people, after everything they've been through, STILL repeat their mistakes? trust no one

Especially some guy you just met. Who is on the enemy team.

So why don't we have polls for each episode?

Oh yeah...thats part of why I didnt like this episode.

Your friends are planning to make a move on the hospital.
The unsuspecting hospital thinks all is well.
Sasha plans to fire off a needless shot, both alerting the hospital and making her friends suspect that maybe they have to quickly return to their base to save her, because she wants to do a favor for a guy who is her captive, is part of a group who kidnapped Beth, and just tried to kill her.
It makes this group look like a bunch of idiots.

When will Rick’s group ever learn not to trust or allow anybody to live that is a threat to them? Aside from Rick, Carl, Carol, Michonne and Abe, this group is soft. Even Daryl is getting soft. He preferred Tyreese’s plan, which at the end of the ep is starting to fall apart, over Rick’s. Then he persuaded Rick to allow that cop to live after nearly being killed by him. And I saw that coming a mile away that officer Bob was playing Sasha the moment he told her his “sob” story. Plus he’s a Hydra agent. I almost thought he was going to push her out that window. You'd think this group would’ve toughen up after the Governor returned, Terminus, and the Hunters. When are they going to learn?

I don’t know why Beth didn’t question that doctor about the medication before injecting Carol with it? Especially since he tricked her before into killing a man by injecting him with the wrong drug. Also why did Dawn give Beth the key to the drug locker? I doubt it was out of the kindness of her heart or to save Carol.

it's just bad writing on the part of the staff, and so far in this season i'd say there's been a lot of lazy filler writing, but this was just bad. predictable, and beyond cliche for this walking dead universe.

like, i'm so TIRED of the whole "temporary trust and immediate instant betrayal" crap. we got it right away with terminus, and now again with this hospital thing.

Pretty good episode overall, Rick and crew was great in this one. The melted walkers was a fantastic setpiece.

Idk man, This Sorrowful Life (second to last episode of s3) is still one of my favorite episodes of all the seasons. RIP Merle :csad:

Boring, predictable episode.

Someone give that Orderly with the cough an Oscar. That scene summed this episode up.

pretty dull for me as well, but I wasn't expecting much cause I'd figure they'd save the attack for the finale, what would have made it at least somewhat interesting would have been to have Gabriel run into Morgan out there, or if it would have been some weed Tara found in that bookbag.

I have been enjoying Homeland a lot more these past few weeks then The Walking Dead & that show can be even more slower paced then The Walking Deads slow episodes

I'm the opposite. Homeland is out of control with its implausibility. I'd rather watch this one first. :(

The Walking Dead has a lot more implausibility then Homeland. But then again The Walking Dead has nothing plausible about it. But you are complaining about Homelands implausibility ?

This felt like a boring filler episode.

Rotters is what they call Zombies on In The Flesh as well.

They should of gone with Rick's plan Tyreese is SAWFT!

That zombie in the woods had some Ninja skills

Yeah, you're right, I shouldn't completely write off the second half of Season 3 like that. It's just that the second half is where things started to get kind of filler-y. This Sorrowful Life was definitely one of the better ones though.

And I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that this season has, aside from maybe the first and third episodes, been pretty boring and filler-y so far. Last night was the worst yet.

well I think they got it right as far as showing some of each group, sadly except a little bit from Ricks group there wasn't much more story to tell.

Really feels like backlash from ending the Gareth story so early in the season, they could have maybe given him two more episodes as The Threat.

Also we need a Morgan payoff and soon.

My god Sasha have you learned NOTHING after dealing with The Governor and the Terminus people. Never trust strangers for a second. Stupid, stupid woman!

I enjoyed this episode more than the last two, but it's still not up to par with the first three episodes of this season. The show needs to get back to that level of quality A.S.A.P.
