if he only had one knife...i would expect him to just be a random stabber. however, he seems to have about 8. i'm guessing he is skilled like a knife thrower at a circus. he even draws for one in a very similar fashion during the trailer.

i also expect him to use knives to carve smiles into his victims faces. it will probably happen off camera though.

i hope you are correct.

You don't need Martial arts training to be a threat. There are other ways. Cheap shots, surprise, weapons, etc.

The Joker seems to like his guns. In the prologue he even stole the shotgun.

Exactly. Or he probably thought it was a cool gun, plus the fact that it was used by Fichtner!

i love the fact that Joker carries a bunch of knives in his pockets..personally i hope we get to see some cut smiles in the Joker's victims' faces

Yeah, I really hope we see that, especially because he says "Let's put a smile on that face!" in the trailer.

Some people here have already said that the Joker should not be all about knives. And I agree with them. I hope it's not like for example Elektra and her sais(yeah I know, a crappy movie but you get the point).

So it's not like The Joker The Knife Wielding Stabber Extrodinaire. But it would be cool to see the Joker showcasing some knife skills. Even if it's just for scene or two.

To sum it up. I hope they don't over-do the knife thing and I'm sure they won't. But they should somehow emphasize the Jokers fascination with knives. And yes, his scars clearly indicate that he has a very close relationship with sharp objects.

Well put. I'm sure they won't be over the top, but there is something very creepy about a knife weilding maniac, especially one that seems to be in love with them. Honestly, I think knives are more frightening than guns etc... I think I'd rather stare down the barrel of a gun than the blade of a knife. Seems less painful.

well its an interesting idea of the joker wielding his knives in a fight.

Its funny how some people here asume that he has to be a knive expert to be good with them, rem ember folks nolan is borrowing ideas from joker's first two appearences more so than from TKJ, and in that first appearence not only joker was a physical threat but he was fast, had good reflexes. Remember the man who laughs i nwhich batman states how fast joker is? so even if he's not a skilled fighter he could have to things, he's a maniac and doesn't mind getting hurt and possibly even enjoys pain to a certain extent, plus I could imagine the joker suddenly slashing people(cops,mobstersbats etc.) with those knives he would probably hide them since the knives are quite small and then when he's close enough he would pull them out of his sleeves even and slash his victim with them. It would be cool to see like two cops pointing guns at him and then as they get close he throws one knive to the arm of one cop, the cop's gun would fall and then he would move closer slash the cop then stab him and use him as a human shield to cover from the other cop and laugh while doing it.

It appears as if the Joker's main weapon of choice are knives.

It'd be cool to see him pull off a few fancy kills with a knife or two, and maybe 'put a smile on someone's face' but they can't show too much in that area, least not forget the rating.

Some time ago there was this thread about the Jokers fighting skills and how much of a physical threat he will be to Batman. I'm guessing not much. He's no ninja and he's not particularly strong or anything. Although he does fight dirty and there's always the element of surprise when dealing with the Joker. And he's familiar with firearms.

But what about those badass knives? Do you guys think that they are an integral part of the character? After all, he is holding one in the poster and "has nothing but knives in his pockets".

Just how skilled do you think he is with those knives? I hope he's not just some random stabber. I hope we get to see some cool knife play. You know. Maybe one or two scenes where the Joker is doing some cool and quick move with a knife.

You think the Joker is going to cut/stab Batman in this movie? Yeah I know what they say about Batmans suit..."this sucker will stop a knife". But maybe the Joker is such a knife expert that he's able to find a weak spot. A joint or something.

Didn't anyone noticed, when joker said "come on hit me!" he had a knife behind him as if he was going to throw it at the wheels of the batpod. Joker is highly skilled with knifes in this film, he's a dirty fighter, he uses bombs, school buses, guns, lint and jokes to kill his victims. Hand to hand with batman? Oh hell no, batman would beat him down to the ground. After all, batman took down 12 assailants, 4 ninjas and handled himself pretty good against ras al ghul. The only way I see joker taking out batman in hand to hand, is if he throws some chemicals or gas on him, like what the scarecrow did to batman

in the cartoon (not sure about the comics since I didn't grow up on Batman comics) they portrayed Joker being able to fight Batman hand to hand. Who knows if they'll use this or not. I hope not since Joker hasn't fought Batman enough or at all to know his moves yet to be any match. Hope he uses dirty tricks

I was thinking that maybe he's got the knives because that could be how he got his own smile. I would love to see him carve smiles into victims' faces, too.
