This thread is to discuss why Topher Grace was an awful choice for Brock and who would have made a much better Venom.
My choices are:

Peter Sarsgaard
Edward Norton
Thomas Haden Church
Matt Dillon
The Rock (very low on the list but still on my mind above Twig-Boy)
Vin Diesel (See above)

Matthew Schulze ( played Chupa in Blade 2 )
Tyler Mane
Kevin Grevioux ( played the huge Lycan in Underworld )
Michael Clarke Duncan ( at least prior to playing Kingpin )
Ron Perlman

....and to follow up on what you said, Tangled Web, neither Rock or Vin Diesel would top my list ( too "nice guy" looking ) but they would be far better than Blowpher.

Ron Perlmen is a good choice that I over looked. Also I think Mickey Rourke would have been perfect. When I watch Sin City I have to think that he would have been excelent as Venom. I certainly didn't think of this guy

I don't know if he has any acting ability, but Mike O'Hearn would have been good.

Mickey Rourke is a nice pick, too.

You are right, Rourke would have been an acceptable choice as well.

Vin Deasle is PERFECT for venom. He would kick A$$ at the part. 1.He has a great rage

:down His acting sucks. People want him for every role, just like Jude Law. There are better actors. Just because he has the look down doesn't mean that he's going to get the role.

The Rock would've been a good Brock, but he is more Namor to me. The other people on your list are more cut out for Batman movies and Thomas Hayden Church IS Sandman.

Let Topher have his day before you jump on him like a rabid foaming dog ready to tear his flesh off just yet. Give the man time. To me he is a glimpse of original Brock and Ultimate Brock and I'm perfectly fine with a mixture of both. :venom:

Had he not played another high profile villian, basically without make-up, yes, I am serious. Duncan is a great actor and has the right build, unlike Blowpher and his noodle arms.

Are you saying that because he's black? I don't understand. Duncan is a much better actor than Grace and he has a great build. He would be a much better Venom than Twiggy Grace.

i agree he's a good actor. i loved him in green mile. that doesnt mean he fits the role soley cause he's built.

i think john malkovich is a good actor too. doesnt mean he should be playing venom any time soon.

Yeah, well I'm sure if Topher was in a bar and you two got in a bar fight he could kick your ass.

Watch... Everyone thought Alfred Molina couldn't pull off Doc Ock and he did. Everyone thought Brandon Routh (an unknown from Canada) couldn't play Superman and he stunned us all with his channeling of the late Christopher Reeve.

Instead of bashing Grace, wait and see what happens. Raimi sees something in him and he can play slimey villian roles. Look at his role in "Traffic."

Duncan's had many more roles than Blowpher. There is no way that Grace could deliver a performance like MCD in the Green Mile.

Why doesn't he fit the role then? You said it yourself that he's fit and he's a good actor? What's wrong with him?
Grace is neither fit or on an acting caliber of Duncan.

I too think there are better people that MCD for the role but he would easily surpass Grace.

That's irrelevant, and besides, I'm not the one up for the roele of Venom

Molina was already a proven actor (Frida, Chocolate) Plus he has the build of Doc Ock

Instead of bashing Grace, wait and see what happens. Raimi sees something in him and he can play slimey villian roles. Look at his role in "Traffic."

Your logic is flawed.

nothing to do with him being black. it may to some poeple, but that doesnt matter at all to me. i just dont think he fits. its my opinion and i may be wrong, but i think topher fits the bill, not MCD.
like i said, my opinion. sorry if you dont agree.

Why do you think that though? Look at Brock in the comics, he's huge. Look at Duncan, likewise.
