The "Why So Serious? Gotham City Noir" RPG: Sign-Up/OOC Thread

I prefer Gough's more subdued approach, personally.
To each his own. I'm with Syn on this one, personally.

And there's that promised Joker post. I was utterly repulsed at myself for writing that, so I hope it has a similar effect on the readers. It would mean that I am doing my job! :hoboj:

I will say it's been a while since I've seen the previous Batman flicks, so I may be looking through rose-coloured glasses.

Good work on that last post EBJ, but mostly because of "that would be crazy" line. Maybe I've got a sick bone myself, but there's worse things that could've happened to that dog.

I loved putting that line in there! It's an interesting concept to wrap your head around that even someone as twisted as The Joker has his limits.

And you write Captain Nazi, so of course you could think of worse things! But for the people who don't write overly evil characters, it should cause a little stomach churning. There's nothing quite as sick as killing an innocent, helpless animal. People, at least, can defend themselves.

Good point.

By the by, Climp, what inspired this revamp of Bane? Bane's origin is quite different from what you're presenting after all.

Dunno, really. Mind you, you could ask that to a lot of people.Even in comic revamps, nowadays, they completely change origins. Take Brian Micheal Bendis's take on the Green Goblin in USM, for instance.

Actually Ult Osborn's origin isn't that much different, the whole 'mad scientist goes nutso with a super soldier formula' is still present and correct.

As is Bane's "Man subjected to Super Drug that gives him superhuman strength" in my portrayal of Bane. It's just how it's executed that's different, the same with Ult. Norman. In 616 he takes a Super soldier serum not used before and goes mad and creates a goblin suit, whereas in Ult. he takes a Super Drug that has already been used on Peter which gave him powers and transorms into a Goblin monster.

Well, it's a pretty big leap from a man that, forced to serve a life sentence for the sins of his father, decided to devote his time to becoming the best he could possibly be, to somebody who is seemingly just a reporter. Shaun Backer isn't exactly a name for a guy born in a country called "Santa Prisca" either.

I'm just saying, it feels like such an odd departure for someone that seems to love the character.

I don't "Love" really, I just thought he was cool when I first saw Batman and Robin and now see how crappy he was handled in that film, and I don't really like him being Russian or whatever he is, so I've reinvented him in the way I would do it.

Russian? That's what you think when you hear of "Santa Prisca"? The Carribean, dude. The Carribean.

Never EVER put these words in the same sentence ever again.

When people say don't put those words in a sentence again I think it is funny because then I can't say "I think Batman and Robin is Not cool", lol.

Yes but people try not to mention the film if they can help it.

So, Climp, just one question and then I'll keep my mouth shut, but: What don't you like about Bane's actual origin story? Just wondering.

I don't really like the whole prison aspect about it, I prefer villians when they are turned into monsters quite quickly, not stretched out like Bane's original origin was. I like the idea of someone becoming a villian because (To quote the Joker) They just had a really bad day.

But the progression to villian is what makes the best villians.

I agree that the transformation to villain is one of the best aspects of a villain. However, I also get where Climp is coming from because I thought about making Zsasz's origins a really long story, but I ended up doing it in 3 posts.

Well, it's not exactly necessary to show the path to villainhood. One flashback post can suffice.

Either way, Climp's made his choice, one I don't agree with it, but he's made it nonetheless. That's cool. I'll be reading.

It appears that this RPG is quite successful. Maybe it's time I fill out an application.

I finally finished up my trades of Gotham Central. Now I might play Crispus Allen.

Goddamn you, Jim Corrigan. Goddamn you to hell! :csad:
