And yes, it took me hours to try to find a pic where the shorts didn't seem to draw attention to themselves :D

I really don't get how pants look "off" on her. They look ally more fitting than the star spangled undies, and that's the traditional outfit.
Whatever ancient routes the character has, she's a superhero and her costume looks like a superhero costume. The "leather pants" just add to that look and it looks just fine.

It's really a preference kind of deal and has to do with each fan's ideal look in their own heads. For myself... Yeah, I have no prob with either the battle skirt or loin cloth. Pants? They do just feel "off" to me. Sorry. I could accept them, but I really haven't liked many versions where she has them.

But a page ago you were saying how you liked a design with pants. Was it just that particular design you liked even though you don't like the look in general?

You ever notice how you rarely see a bad looking Wonder Woman cosplayer? 99.9% of them look absolutely stunning.

Yeah, more or less, I generally don't dig the pants look, but I have seen some that I can live with.

I think my take on WW's look, especially for live action comes down to my view of her in the TRINITY itself.

Supes is the scifi Hercules/messiah, Batman is the swashbuckling crusader and Wondy is the Warrior angel of Myth and Magic. I kind of need to see that aspect in her costume, or at least what she wears to battle.

PS, the one aspect in the pants outfit I quoted I would change is how it's WAY to tight on her... umm... vajay. I wouldn't ever want a too chaste looking WW, but I also feel that it's too easy to go overboard with the titillation.

I don't really mind, shorts, skirt or pants. All 3 can be made to look good. Just make it look good!

I agree with that and thanks for answering it would be kind of strange but I'm sure they have padding for that. lol I like the pants or skirt.

I think that the only way the panties would/could work is an homage to them when WW's strapped battle skirt costume gets destroyed during a battle.

^ That's what I think as well. Have her in some armor, it gets damaged and we get a short sequence of something that looks close to the classic look.

I have to admit I'm not fond of that. The "female gets clothes ripped off to reveal sexier look" is a bit of a tired trope.

Well I'm not suggesting it for the sex appeal. I'm suggesting it for the "nostalgia" appeal. Just a short sequence in the classic look, because truth be told, most of the general audience is not aware of her use of various armors and outfits. They think of her in the classic bathing suit type bodice thingie.

Doesn't that happen to men & their shirts in action films even more? lol

I didn't think you or Jaymes were suggesting it for the sex appeal, but given that the classic costume is often for that purpose, it might seem like that was the goal. Plus, it's something that happens a lot in movies and sex appeal is the goal there.

Edit: Yes, it does happen with men too, Iceman.

I don't think it would look too bad in a Themyscira scene.

But otherwise on Earth what you say would work.

You know out of the two I think Supergirl actually has the far more demeaning costume. The mini skirt and crop top make her look like a cheerleader.

The whole Supergirl has to have her midriff showing thing baffles the hell out of me. Does anyone really think that the first words out of Clark's mouth when he sees her in an outfit like that is NOT going to be "Fly your keister back to the Fortress and change into something appropriate to save the world in Missy"?

I agree. And isn't she a teenager? That makes the whole thing even weirder.

Though I agree as long as it happens to the men in the movie to equal amounts I don't mind it.
It happens to male heroes too. In fact I don't think it has ever happen to a woman superhero in film.

In The Amazing Spiderman video game there was so much tearing it was just terrible.

^ I wouldn't mind that. In fact, I'd prefer that if the fight was vicious. I didn't like how MOS supes didn't have a hair out of place after the Zod battle. Damage makes it seem more real and visceral.

The damage to the costume just has to be more random and not just her skirt being ripped off to reveal panties. That's the type of stuff that happens frequently in other moves, not necessarily superhero movies (horror movies are particularly guilty).

I agree. And isn't she a teenager? That makes the whole thing even weirder.

Look I have no problem with some female heroes and villains being, well, frankly, sex objects to a certain degree. But can't we have like one or two that indeed are treated appropriate to their ages? Mary Marvel and Supergirl should be just that... GIRLS. Not women. Girls. Under the age of consent girls at that. So... Yeah, we already have Catwoman in her skintight S/M outfit, Black Canary and Zatanna in their fishnets... Can't Kara be a little chaste in her outfit?

But this is getting off topic I suspect....

Here's a thought... For a solo WonderGal film should the outfit evolve through the film?

I remember that Perez' run had the Mindy Mayer character that was a PR consultant. If they keep with WW's "mission" to man's world aspect, I could see her getting advice to change her more "native" warrior/armor look to a more "superheroic" one. Again... Multiple outfits gives us the best of all worlds.

I have no problem with evolving outfits. It'd be a good excuse to use a battleskirt at first and then maybe pants/tights to match the rest of the JL.

I don't know about "sex objects" but I don't really have an issue with Kara's outfit when it's not made to make her look trashy like the one posted in the SvsB manips thread.
I too think BC and Zatanna's costumes can work to an extent with some minor changes. WW is another story though IMO. She is a women's rights feminist beacon of hope. These values are ingrained into her character and must be taken seriously both the way she's written and the way she looks visually.

This is why the traditional bathing suit bodice thingy is problematic to say the least in adapting her for live action in the modern day. It's also why the idea that she is some kind of descendant of Kryptonians and merely some kind of adjunct character to Superman's mythos and not her own distinctive creation irks me so much.
