Well, it's his origin you're telling now, which happens before the attack on Arkham. So you could always go forward for a while about this stuff that happened in the past, then eventually jump past the attack saying Hatter didn't die but was in a coma. And he's now awake and ready of the world.

ok, that would work. I do have a question though, was it ever specifically stated that Batman brought Jervis in? Because as part of his story I wanted Batman to be unaware of who the Hatter is because I was going to build up that they were kind of friends, because Bruce tried to help Jervis get through his tough times when his wife died. So if it was never stated that Bats brought Jervis in, I could still go with that, and then Bruce could still think Jervis was dead, in stead of the way his is now.

*edit* or if this is all in the past, we could just play out that story, and then go to him waking up.
