The 'World of Heroes: DC Style" RPG Season II

OOC: Thanks. You're more than welcome to handle Ares if you like. I'm just kind of winging it with him, so if you had any plans for him, feel free to take over. I don't mind taking on more than one character though. I'm handling half the Asgardian pantheon over in the Marvel RPG right now. ;) We're working on getting Leaguer in here.
OOC: The more I think about it, the harder it would be, considering the inevitable fight... I will handle Wonder Woman for now though that way we could have that good fight with Ares and WW :)

OOC: Roger dodger.

Mordru answers sarcastically, “Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Lord Ares. Welcome to the Tower of Fate."
Before Ares can reply, Mordru cuts him off, "Now, what is this business about a mystical barrier?”
IC: Ares pauses, considering whether to wipe Mordru off the face of the Earth for his impudence, but grudgingly admits that having his oath revoked is worth the trouble of dealing with him. "I made a promise to Athena's champion to never directly interfere with the matters of Patriarch's World again. My actions at the time would have led to the utter desolation of the world. But I've had a bit of an... epiphany in the intervening years. That won't happen again. A god's word in such weighty matters becomes a mystical oath. I am literally barred from performing or fomenting violence on Earth. Can you remove such a binding?"

Mordru uses the Amulet of Anubis to scan the Olympian and discern how powerful this ‘barrier’ really is. After seeing it through the Amulet, Mordru is definitely intrigued.
“Interesting”, says the Dark Lord, “Yes, I can remove the magical bonds that keep you from interacting personally on the mortal plane.” Mordru waves his hand and a doorway appears in the side wall where there was none before.
“Follow me, god of conflicts.” When he sees Adam begin to follow him, he stops him, “Only Ares and I may enter. You are not needed, Mighty Adam.”

After preparing the room with incantations and magical trinkets, Mordru tells Ares to stand in the middle of a rune filled circle. The Olympian does what the Dark Lord instructs, though with some hesitation. Mordru begins an ancient chant and green flames appear, lining the circle Ares is standing in. The runes begin to glow and pulsate with an eerie blue light as the Olympian looks on suspiciously. Mordru’s chant increases in volume as the energy from the runes begins to engulf Ares. As the rune energy covers the god, its blue aura begins to brighten. At first, Ares feels nothing, but, as it gets brighter, he begins to feel a burning pain throughout his body. It is a small pain at first, barely noticeable, but the louder the Dark Lord chants the brighter the aura gets. And the brighter the aura gets, the stronger the pain becomes.
Ares grits his teeth. He has been betrayed! Mordru means to kill him, not free him. And, like a fool, he has fallen into the Dark Lord’s trap! He will not give this vermin the satisfaction of hearing a god scream. And, if he survives this, he will kill Mordru for this treachery. The chanting goes on for minutes more, and the aura’s brightness increases. Now it is nearly as bright as the sun. And the pain increases along with it. Finally, Ares cannot contain it any longer, and he rears back his head and screams in anguish.
From his scream, all of the mystical energy that has been built up is released in a titanic blast. A portal opens up above the Olympian to capture the mystical energy and disperse it. As the energy is dispelled, Ares falls to one knee, breathing heavily.
“It is done”, the Dark Lord says, “The energy preventing you from taking actions on the mortal plane has been expelled.”

Black Adam waited patiently in the Tower's main room until the pair emerged again. Ares eyed Mordru suspiciously, but when Adam asked, "Was the procedure successful?" Ares replied with a curt nod. "Excellent," Black Adam said. "Then our plans can continue. You have heard my ideas for the Alliance, and now our ranks are bolstered by Deathstroke and Ares. Who should we recruit next?"

"Harv, that's enough. Now it's my turn."

Dent stopped beating Batman with the bat as The Joker approached, dragging another chair along with him. He put the chair down in front of Batman, straddling it and sitting down face-to-face with his nemesis.

"Well, Batman, I think it's time we had a little chat."

The Joker chuckled softly, giving Batman a wink.

"I will call you Batman, since your...other half was recently killed by me when I murdered that old man. I think it's only fair. I'm only The Joker, so naturally you should only be Batman. Heh heh, it makes out little war far more pure, don't you think?"

The Joker's smile began to fade.

"All my recent pranks, they've all been about irony. The depressed losers laughing to death. The doctor being killed by an ambulance. The people blowing up outside a firehouse. The little brat of a famous child saviour being murdered. Me turning Harvey into Two-Face. And, of course, Alfred being killed on Father's Day. He was like a father to you, wasn't he?"

The Joker suddenly lunged forward, giving Batman a stiff backhand slap across the face.

"Everything I've done, it's all been about this one moment, this one ironic punchline. Thanks to you, only The Joker is left. And now, thanks to me, only Batman is left. And one of us is going to die tonight. And I'm not kidding around, not this time!"

And he wasn't. For once, his face was deadly serious.

"I am going to kill you, Batman, and it's going to be no laughing matter."

Mordru answers quickly, apparently having already thought about it, “In my search for Deathstroke, I came across an individual in Opal City who may be of use to us. His name is the Shade, and, like my former colleague Obsidian, he can manipulate the stuff of shadows.
Mordru looks over his cohorts,"I propose that one of us goes to Opal City and recruits the Shade to our cause.”

"Very well. I know little of the Shade, however, so I may be less than successful swaying him to our cause. Perhaps Deathstroke would be better suited? His connections to the villain community run far deeper than my own."

The Parasite and Killer Frost charged towards eachother as fast as they could without a sound escaping their mouths. Neither of them were happy in the least about the fact that they were fighting eachother, and yet they both smiled with gleefull menace.

Rudy threw the first punch, but Frost jumped over his fist, doing a flip and landing behind him. As Parasite looked over his shoulder to where she landed, Frost blasted him with an intensely cold ice blast.
The blast sent the Parasite flying across the ring and sliding to a halt inside of an ice block.
Killer Frost strolled up to the block of ice with a sexy smile across her face. Rudy breathed out a cloud of frozen vapor and winked at Frost. Suddenly the ice around him began to crack and Rudy exploded out of the ice with a thunderous sound. The audience cheered and roared at the action. For the next five minutes, the Parasite and Killer Frost exchanged blows swiftly and without saying a word. The Parasite had the strength and size on his side, but Killer Frost had the acrobatics and the power which Rudy couldn't absorb.

The crowd loved every minute of it.

OOC: This is an ivitation to anyone who wants to attend the festivities at The House in the Nevada desert. Anyone who's character would likely bet on the fights would be welcome to come and try to make a profit or have just have a fun time at the casino.

I'm purposely taking it slowly so that anyone has time to come and set up before the final prize match. Think of it like those big-deal boxing fights in Vegas. Everyone who's anyone shows up to those things, and this is a supervillains and thrillseekers only casino, so I was thinking Joker, Two Face, and Penguin might be interested in making some money ;). But don't think about robbing the place, because it would NOT work in this casino. Any robbers would be caught without question and probably killed ;).

OOC: I think Two-Face, Joker, and Penguin are too busy kicking my ass to go to Navada and bet their life savings. ;)

OOC: That's why I'm taking it so slow, to give them time to do whatever it is they want to do to you. And who said anything about their life savings ;)? All three of them (maybe not Two Face currently) are big-time gang lords in Gotham. Money should be no problem at all for any of them.

EDIT- didn't see the smiley in time-thought you were serious about the "life savings" thing. Added my own smiley.

"The Shade? Heard of him. I'll go get him." Deathstroke said as he grabbed his gun and reloaded "Shouldn't be too hard." he finished as he looked around the doors. "Which one of these will take me to the Injustice Sattelite?"

OOC: We're gonna have to put the Shade on hold I'm afraid. Trop still has to introduce him, and he's not going to start that until he gets the 'ok' from batnkevlar himself.
So, we can either switch it up and go after the heroes-pretending-to-be-villains, or you, Harlekin, can still go after the Shade, but you'd have to write up a few posts of him looking for him. Maybe have an encounter with a B-List hero along the way you can off or something.

OOC: Harl, the Enlongated Man, Black Condor, Bobo Benetti and a detective whose name I forget (who was an inspiration to Enlongated Man) are based in Opal City. The O'Hare family are all red-headed Irish blooded cops that take Opal's protection very seriously and were friends with Jack (Starman) and know of the Shade also. There's quite a bit to do or people that you could ask that would give you a few posts. Especially if you were to saaaaay dress up like Batman and ask around. Now, where did I get that tactic from? Hmmmmmmmmm.

OOC: Plagiarist! ;) Trop, you might want to give bat a PM, just to nudge his memory.

OOC: Yeah, that's why I'd like to go that Sattelite they showed in Identity Crisis, where all the villains gathered. I forgot the name of it, so I just called it the Injustice Sattelite. Wasn't sure if you wanted to start out in Opal and all. The villains-gather will be my first spot to visit in looks for the Shade.

The Shade's Journal:

...I have been bored of late, lovely Opal is as beatiful as ever but even this beloved city has lost it's excitement. After the recent events, the more "questionably moral" members of this city think twice about being noticed in the cityt that Ralph Dibny calls home. They do not fear reprisal from Mr.Dibny, but rather from his friends; after all, the wound is still tender. I was rather disillusioned that the so called "malleable detective" couldn't decipher the mystery sorrounding the regrettable murders, nor did Mr. Drew offer any insight for all his purported analytical prowess. Opal has a number of fair guardians and they do a very good job, too good for my taste as of late.

It is this...boredom and dissatisfaction that have prompted me to look outside my fair city as I am wont to do when I seek a little adventure to spice my dreary life. This wandering eye of mine, if it can be called that, has brought to my attention a certain ursurper to a worthy name. I would be the first to admit that individuals taking on the name of arachnids, as per the Spider, are not of my preference but the Tarantula was a capable mystery man. His first book was worthy of reading, even if his subsequent attempts were dismal and the insight gleaned from those written words lead me to believe that this female that took the name is less than a worthy succesor. I have taken it upon myself to correct this grievious mistake and blot out the existence of this deplorable woman.

There are other rumblings about the World, events that make my blood race. After I'm done with this first tender morsel I'll see what else is on the menu. I'm of a mind to be in the company of other roguish scoundrels as myself in these endeavors that I sall set in front of myself. Until my restless spirit is quenched once again I leave thee, fair Opal...

The shadows sorround the Shade and when they return to their places again, the Shade is gone. Articles on the Tarantula, Nightwing and the disaster in Kandhaq litter the smallish table in the breakfast nook. A map of Bludhaven is underneath it al, there are no distinguishing marks on it. The Shade's journal, like him are no longer in Opal City.

The powerful figure flew towards Earth at near light speed, smashing three large asteroids as it hurtled through them.

*****

Clark sat in his room, which had remained the way it was since he had originally left Kansas. He looked out the window at the night sky.

*****

The figure breaches Earth's atmosphere at a speed so high it sends shockwaves acroos the globe. Many children are born at that moment completely and irreversibly brain damaged.

*****

Clark's eyes followed the falling star. His muscles tensed as he felt the mighty shockwave it caused as it entered the atmosphere. Now, more than ever, the world needed Superman. And he couldn't do anything.

*****

Bizarro slammed into the ocean two hundred miles east of Japan, sending tidal waves in all directions. He quickly righted himself and flew towards Kansas.

OOC: Supes might wanna see a doctor or something pretty soon. The Parasite particles probably wouldn't stop after only taking his powers ;). Soon, Clark's gonna start to wither up and get all wrinkly. And then he'll start to lose his skin, and nobody wants to see that. :D

OOC: I'm gonna deal with that, don't worry. I have an idea (which is amazing if you really know me.)

Also, my "cure" for the parasites is borederline Pre-Crisis, I hope it'll be understandable that I want Supes to be back at full power soon, and I doubt any doctor that he goes to will be able to help him with his parasites.

Mordru points to an empty wall and a door appears. “That door there will take you to the satellite.”

As Deathstroke departs, Mordru turns to Adam and Ares, “Now then, if our mercenary friend is successful in his mission we will have another powerful member added to our Alliance. However, as powerful as we are…it loathes me to say this, but our enemies have just as much power among their ilk. Not to mention they also have the numbers advantage. We will need more rogues to join our cause…more fodder for the frontlines of the coming crusade.”

OOC: Feel free to edit in a parting remark or what not, Harlekin, before you leave to search for the Shade.

"I'll be back." Slade responds as he suddenly finds himself at the sattelite. Villains from all over were gathered here. Chronos was still trying to convince everybody that they would win one day, while others were simply comparing notes or gambling.

Walking around, he sees most villains looking away from him, some even decide to go in the complete opposite direction in which they were headed. Stopping at Merlyn's table, Slade sees the archer painting the feathers on his arrows black.

"What a worthless trademark."
"Slade? Sit down. Heard all about your newest kill."
"How did you?"
"Word runs fast in the villain community. It was about time somebody did that punk in anyway. Try and stay away from Cheshire though. Want a drink?"
"Don't have the time. I need to find the Shade. Know where he is?"
"Last I checked he still lives in Opal City, you should check out his adress."

Stopping for a moment, Merlyn scribbles on a small piece of paper and hands it over to Deathstroke. "You gonna kill that arrogant sonuva*****?"
"Maybe some other time. Thanks."

With those words Slade leaves the table, and uses the transporter to go to Opal City.
