The 'World of Heroes: DC Style" RPG Season II

Enter, Tony Gambi, also known as Replicant.

He sits in a sparsely decorated hotel room, leaned far back in a chair, arms gripping both sides of the arm rest like some kind of ancient, brooding god.

God very well be a more astute obversation than one would first assume. He is one of the more powerful super human beings on this planet, and with the potential to become perhaps the most powerful.

God or not however, he is most certainly not a man. For in the place of where should be a young man with his entire life in front of him is a pallid, grisly to most being who can not even be seen in public anymore! In the most dire of circumstances when he does venture out, it is only at dusk or later, heavily garbed, like some sort of universal outcast.

What he now needs... is certainty. And the most direct, most definite way to gain such a thing... is power! To a man... a thing who has never had any, and even less now, what else is there? He must be in control of his destiny. And above all else, he must protect his family, the rouge gallery of The Flash!

Villians to most, but the closest of kin to him as a child and even afterwards. Their recent purported dispersment has left a hole in him. What happened? They are most certainly a group prone to terrbible things... They once died and lost their very souls to Neron! But almost devil or not, he will do anything to protect them... Even if it were to mean going to hell itself...

And isn't that why he is in his current undesirable situation? Giving himself wholly to his family to become the ultimate rogue? To guard them against the then "new" Flash who was wreaking havok among his families, almost killing some of them?

But was it worth it? Yes... No... No! He will not question such things. Certainty, the ability to be in control... He will attain this abstract thing, no matter what the cost.

But just how high will that cost be? Will his influenceable attitude be taken advantage of by the evils of this world? For, has he not grown up among villians? Will he walk another path and perhaps seek help among the heroes of this world? Only time will tell as Tony Gambi begins his endeavor for ultimate power!

Rocketing over the the water, Fernus enjoys being alive again, despite limiting himself: he knows too much telepathic activity would call a lot of unwanted attention.

Still weakened from his recent "resurrection," Fernus knows he'll have to power up if he wants his try for revenge to be successful. Before confronting his "killers," he has a few stops to make. First up: Gotham City.

Gotham City.

Now.

Firefly's rocketpack blazes as he takes to the air in the dockside warehouse. Abandoned, the sprawling, empty warehouse has long been used as a meeting-place for gangsters and hoods. Although technically a part of the Black Mask's recently-acquired territory, the building has long been treated as a no-man's-land.

Tonight, aside from Firefly, the building is occupied by fifteen men, all newly-recruited members of the Red Hood's following. The leader of the men had been called two hours ago by someone claiming to represent the Black Mask. According to the caller, the Mask had a sweet counter-offer to the deal they struck with the Hood. Intrigued, the leader contacted his men and arrived at the agreed-upon place and time.

However, as the group had just found out, the meeting was a front for revenge: the Black Mask was tired of the Red Hood stealing his business, and was out to send a message to any future defectors: betray, and you will die.

The revelation of the truth barely has time to register in the minds of the gangsters as Firefly's flames wash over them, delivering slow and painful death.

"Firefly."

The pyromanic spins in mid-air, search for the source of the voice. It couldn't be Batman, there hadn't been a Bat-sighting in quite a few days. Word on the street was that he had gone missing. Firefly realized the reports were clearly false, as Batman leapt from the shadows and landed in the middle of the screaming victims.

Firefly was stunned to see Batman simply stand, rather than try to help the suffering gangsters. As a sick smile spread across Batman's face, Firefly realized this wasn't the true viginlante.

Spraying flame at the pretender, Fireflie cries out. "Who the Hell are you!?"

The being doesn't move, letting the negatively-telepathically-charged fire cover him. "Delicious."

Realizing he is probably over his head, Firefly turns to flee, heading for the skylight set into the roof of the warehouse. Busting through, he streaks away, only to come to a halt as the Batman appears before him, hovering in mid-air.

Although he already knows it's futile, Firefly panics and bathes "Batman" in fire again. "Batman" simply smiles and says, "Yes, please, I think I will have another."

Finally, "Batman" reveals his true form, reverting back to his Burning Martian body. Reaching out, Fernus grips Firefly and reaching back to his fueltank.

"Before you die, know this: your death will not be in vain. The Bat will burn." With that, he ruptures the tank, exploding the helpless villain. Fernus drinks in Firefly's pain as if it were wine. He lets out a satisfied sigh and takes off into the air.

OOC: Good stuff, Leaguer. Actually pretty curious as to where you're going with the Fernus bit.

OOC: You're curious as to what you're doing with your own character?

OOC: Oh, I was expecting almost praise from you there for a second. :(

I hear the comm message from my own ear, the private line.

"No, Tim, everything's far from okay. Get to the Watchtower NOW. I'll explain when you get here. Until then, watch yourself."

"I'm on my way."

I set corridnates for the Watchtower and set the jet for full- speed then set it to Auto pilot and went to the back to change into a spare costume. By the time I came back, I was nearing the tower.

"May God save me pain."

Wally had returned quickly with this Constantine fellow, which was expected from the Fastest Man Alive. I was about to go over and introduce myself and greet him on behalf of the League, when I hear Kara's cries.

I rush to her side, she's struggling to move and get off of the bed. "Kara, calm down, you're very hurt." I say as I gently push her back down onto the bed. I take her hand in mine, and try my best to comfort her. "Kara, don't worry, you'll be alright. You just need to rest up for a little while."

OOC:so whats happening with captain marvel then? what is j'onn needed for?

OOC: Thanks guys.:D

He's Back

"You two got here just in time. Batman was just sending a team to rescue Green Arrow's kid. You two should probably come with us."
Constantine has a slightly amused look on his face at the sight of The Question. After the stories I've heard about him, freaking him out is not exactly the easiest thing to do.

"Mate...Where's your f**king face?"

"Johny boy, this is not exactly--"

"I mean there's, there's--*waving hand in face*--nothing there. How do you f**king eat? Can you see me right now? *waving hand in Questions face chuckling slightly*"

"John."

"Unbe-f**king-lievable."

"Constantine!"

"WHAT?! The bloke has no f**king face! Bloody f**king Elephant man!"

I can't believe I'm saying this.

"This is not the place or time to be joking around. We've got serious buisness here and lives are at stake."

"...Fine...Fine...Where can I get a pint around this bloody fortress anyway?"

I just shake my head and turn back to Question. This must be what everyone else feels like around me.

"We're here for ya. What happened to Connor and Mia? You guys found them?!"

"Kal, I saw Bart. I saw him! He's not dead, he's not..." Kara's rant was interrupted as she started crying again. "Kal, I'm sorry, I'm no hero."

The Warchtower, Sea of Tranquility, The Moon

No matter how much you isolate yourself from the rest of humanity, it's still always hard to break bad news.

"Shade left Mia in Las Vegas and sent a message for us to get her. Conner is dead."

...Hmm...Poor Connor...These deaths are growing fast and getting on my last nerve. A group of strangers are getting more done than the people who've been doing it for years.

"*sighs*...hmm...Well at least Mia is okay. Let's go. You too Constantine."

"Can't I get a drink in me first?"

"No."

"I should have stayed back in the bar."

OOC: Okay, who here is going?

After Slade finished rigging the explosives, Mordru wasted no time as he began setting them in the specific places throughout the city. As the last one was placed, he disappeared…but not back to the Tower.

Appearing inside a military installation somewhere in the Nevada desert, the Dark Lord began cutting a swath of destruction throughout the base. All who stood in his path were cut down. Most of the soldiers he burnt to a crisp, others he made implode in a sickening wet blast of gore, and some he merely transformed into lifeless dolls in amusement. To their credit, the soldiers did not back down at all. They stood their ground and unloaded on the attacker…but it was to no avail. Bullets just bounced off Mordru’s shields, and RPGs ricocheted off to destroy the base around them. Blasts doors came crashing down to bar the sorcerer’s path, but he cut through them as though they were tissue paper. Nothing could stop the Dark Lord’s advance.
As the bodies piled up, Mordru’s malevolent laugh grew louder. Eventually, he made it to his destination…the entrance to a large, unmarked storage room. Before he could reach the door, Mordru was confronted by three soldiers in large experimental cybernetic armor. No words were spoken as the rail guns emerged from the armor’s forearms and began firing. Mordru’s laughter stopped as the rounds pounded his shields with incredible force. “This has been entertaining, but it’s time for playtime to end.”
The Dark Lord’s eyes flared green, and beams of mystical energy shot forth and engulfed one of the armored soldiers, turning him into solid stone. With a crooked smile, Mordru waved his hand and turned the remaining pair into Rock ’em, Sock ’em Robots.

With no more resistance, Mordru entered the door to the chamber, shattering the stone soldier as he passed. Looking around inside, Mordru’s smile threatened to swallow up his entire head. Reaching out, the Dark Lord’s hand brushed across one of the dozen warheads stored in the room. With a laugh that would chill the spine of the devil, Mordru teleported away, back to the Tower of Fate…a dozen nuclear warheads in tow…

Arriving back in the Tower, the missiles appearing in another section of the Tower, Mordru saw Shade resting in a chair. Walking up to him, he gestured with his hand and a snifter of brandy appeared on the coffee table next to him.
“Have a drink, Shade”, Mordru said as a scrying mirror appeared in front of them showing the city of Keystone, “and enjoy the show.”

Mordru snaps his fingers, and the city is rocked with explosions. Within minutes, the entire city is covered with a green noxious gas…and the first fears begin to manifest. On one street, a young couple screams as they are being chased by a chainsaw wielding maniac in a hockey mask. On the next block over, an elderly man is being swarmed by large spiders. A few blocks away two little boys run from a flying saucer that suddenly appears and begins to shoot beams of energy at them. As the minutes role on, more terrors manifest, and the city begins to tear itself apart.
Mordru sighs in ecstasy as he watches the chaotic mess that Keystone has become. “Ahhh…it’s a beautiful sight to behold, is it not?” Says Mordru, under his breath.

In the mirror, a bank’s doors explode outward as a blast of hurricane force winds rip them apart. Out from the bank come Cold, Weather Wizard, and a handful of other Rogues carrying large sacks of money. Cold and his band run across to the other side of the street, and leap into a window and disappear.
“Well, it appears Cold has chosen to profit from this. Excellent. With he and his Rogues unaffected by the gas, they will provide an extra threat to the heroes as they attempt to restore order in the city.”

Mordru turns to Shade, “I suggest you get as much rest as you can, because, as soon as the heroes depart for Keystone, you and the Terminator will begin your infiltration.”

The Parasite now had control over the security systems of the LexAerospace facility. He shut down all of the cameras and deactivated the locks on all of the classified rooms.

Now that that part of his mission was done, it was time to move on to the next stage. Rudy transformed into the first security guard he had drained and made his way to a room marked as "Higher Orbit Satelites". He went inside the room and walked past a few devisions who were busily going about their work. Then he turned a corner and saw what he was looking for: The Orbital Control Center.

"Thank you Lex," Rudy said quietly to himself.

Las Vegas, Nevada, 10 minutes later

The javiline is finally decending over Vegas.

We get out.

Imediately, The Flash spots Mia. He rushes over to her. Just as I begin to lose my suspicions of a trap......

The Scarecrow walked into the main room where Mordru and Shade sat, watching the Master of Fear’s signature gas destroy Keystone City.

“Sir, I found this at a newly departed friend,” Crane said, tossing Tempest’s JLA com link to Mordru. “This could help us, right?”

When I get to her she's still unconscious. The nudity I could care less about. Just as long as she's okay.

"Mia?! Mia wake up."

I begin to have flashbacks of Linda's death. Holding her unconscious body in my arms, this becomes all too familiar ground for me.

"Come on Mia, wake up. Please. Please wake up."

I shake her around a bit trying to get some sense back into her. Please. Please, not you too.
Her eyes slowly open.

"W...Wally?"

Yes!

"Yes. Yes it's me Mia. Everything's--"

That's when she starts weeping. She grabbed my neck and pulled me down, getting tears all over me.

"Oh god...Oh god. What they did to me." She managed to say inbetween sobs.

"...John. Give me your coat."

"What?"

"I said give me your coat!"

He sighs and reluctantly gives me his coat but I don't care. I use it to cover up Mia's cold, weak and naked body and I pick her up and walk back to the Javalin.

"We're done here...Let's go."

"Flash, go and help anyone hurt in the explosion. Constintine and I will look after Mia."

OOC: Just make it so it's after I grab her. You could have just put the whole explosion thing in the original post but it's no biggie.
