It's a shame they had to film next weeks Raw immediately because of July 4th. After Punk's blistering promo they could have used a weeks breather before coming out fresh, live next week.

As it stands those spoilers are uninspiring.

agreed 100% percent on both counts. I think the angle will still be interesting though.

By the way...what a darn shame that next week's Raw has already been taped. A week's worth of Punk twitter hype and internet frenzy build up would have been fun.

I don't think anyone doubts it was a work at the outset, the big question is did Punk cross the line with how far he went.

I dont think so. The whole plan was to cut him off like that.

For the ego Vince supposedly has, he's never had a problem putting it aside and letting someone make him look bad on TV. This isn't even the first promo like this. Batista did a similar promo on his way out. CM Punk just took it further.

Nell, everybody knows its a work. Some people just wonder if its a smaller scale Bash and the Beach 2000 situation where the work went off "script" to a degree.

Havene't seen anyone here believing this was a shoot. If it was Punk never would have gotten as far as he did.

Even if the plan was to cut him off that doesn't mean Punk didn't say something to get someone in the back angry. Who knows since the promo clearly wasn't totally scripted word for word for Punk and he was allowed to have some freedom he may have said some things that hit a little close to home even if he was given permission to do whatever he wanted.

Personally I think it was a TOTAL work but Vince has gotten pissed off for less. Even in worked promos guys have said stuff that chapped the other one. Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels for example.

Vince has never seen Punk as a truly valuable worker...but I'm hoping that they are paying attention to the internet explosion and realizing how absolutely vital he is to the company.

Guys like Punk and Jericho only come around once every decade or so...you have to treat them like they deserve to be treated.

It seemed like some people were implying that they cut the microphone and TV feed because of Punk shooting, when I felt it was blatantly obvious cutting him off and killing the feed like that was all part of the work.

I agree with you. I think that was 100% work with Punk given freedom and not a word for word script to go off of.

Whatever it was, its one of the best things I've ever seen in wrestling. That was a perfect example of why I like promos better than matches.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross tweeted about CM Punk's shoot promo on Monday Night Raw earlier this evening, stating the following:

"Most compelling, controversial end of Raw in a long time. @cmpunk edgy, attitudinal & full of rage. Don't know what to think. Wow."

More than anything else, i REALLY wanted to hear what he was gonna say about the anti-bullying campaign, the "personal story." The promo was getting to be AWESOME and could've used even more. I could listen to him speak for hours

I'm not really interested in anything the WWE does any more, I gave up watching wrestling full-time almost a decade ago and while I don't really care to watch most of the product these days, I will watch anything CM Punk is involved in.

Man, right now, I really wish that the WWE had at least one person that HASN'T won a world title yet in the WWE, to be prepped for a Classic Wrestlmania World Title Win for next year.

I mean the last people to have won their first World Championships at Wrestlmania were John Cena and Batista.

Right now, the only people that would seem likely to still have a "World Title First/Wrestlmania" moment, who also happens to be a face, would be John Morrison and Kofi Kingston.

Had Christian remained a face and not have won the WT yet, he could have been the first person to prep, but seeing as how he already had (for however short that reign was) along with now being a top heel on Smackdown, well that's out of the cards in regards to the category I just mentioned.

Yep. If they're really letting Punk go, they're crazy--especially after this.

IMHO The WWE made a massive turn for the better tonight and Punk could be the guy to lead them out of the PG Era.

Sensational promo, and him dumping on his fans was brilliant because it actually made sense, and they knew it, hence them booing him.

Microphone being cut was a total work though.

I'd love for that to happen.

At least if Punk is leaving it will be on a high note. It's either he pitched a good storyline to Vince and they're going for it or they gave him creative control as an incentive to stay longer.

It's obvious Punk has already resigned, is getting a big push AND he has a word in the creative direction of this angle. It spells big things for him. McMahon is a smart business man, he wouldn't be pushing a person who's going to leave the company in three weeks. Why would he?

That promo was one of the greatest moments in the history of professional wrestling.

Vince can make himself and Cena look better in the process. I don't want to spoil next weeks RAW but Cena has an angle here also.

There could be several reasons why this went down but it's still kind of early to call it . gotta love that.

To make John Cena's victory that much greater, I imagine. I mean, they basically spoiled the ending for MITB at the taping by saying that [blackout]Cena will be fired if he loses. They won't fake-fire Cena twice in a year's time,[/blackout] so Cena wins at MITB.

Obviously that doesn't mean that the feud won't continue, but I htink it's too early to say Punk has re-signed.

That was a pretty awesome shoot that I've haven't seen in a long time; actually thinking about it, it almost made me think of this shoot...

I approve of the "Let's post awesome promos" direction this thread has taken.
