The Wrestling Thread must be burned down so it can be reborn!

So what's the deal then? Is it one of those things where people have a general dislike for comedic characters in wrestling?

You'll all be Rosebuds within a month :o

It appears some of us want to join the Exotic Express.

I want to be the guy in the graduation robes.

Well it's part of the freedom of the crowd that WWE have bowed to with everything they are doing right now.

I just don't get it at this point. Punk is gone, but WWE has made Bryan champ, Shield is kicking ass, Barrett and Cesaro are both getting a strong push, Batista has lost two straight ppv matches, Wyatt is awesome, Paige is bringing some spotlight to the divas division... The only thing missing at this point is a push for Ziggler. There will always be crappy segments in a pro wrestling show. What do these people want, other than to get themselves over on tv?

Man, lots of complaining in the thread tonight.

I thought the Adam Rose segment was pretty fun actually - it was relatively short & basically was an introduction for the guy, that's about it.

Yeah, I'm personally not a fan of comedy but it breaks things up. The in ring action has been good IMO but the thread seems hyper critical tonight because Bryan isn't in an angle they like.

Cesaro is my pee break. Sorry the guy bores me.

They want Punk to come back and get the spoils from the thing he pretty much built for the rest by being the only guy to stand up to the BS.

Maybe it's just because I've been watching NXT since it's rebranding to Full Sail, but I think the reason I've defended the Adam Rose character is because of the guy playing the character. He's been in developmental for a long time now, and he's consistently been a solid performer in every gimmick he's been given. The characters hadn't always clicked with the crowd, but it's not because of his performances really but that they didn't quite fit for him.

This iteration as Adam Rose is by far his most entertaining persona and he deserves a shot - it's just flat out fun, and sometimes that's ok in wrestling.

Too much complaining.

I'll judge Adam Rose after I see him in the ring.

I don't think Punk gives a rats ass about the fans and it this point they look like a bunch of toolbags. It made sense the first couple weeks but that ship has sailed

It's not like he was fired. Punk walked out. I love Punk. He's one of the reasons I got back into wrestling. However, I'm not going to lose sleep over a guy quitting his job, no matter how much I enjoyed watching him do it. At this point, I would actually be annoyed if he came back and won the title right away. It would feel about as natural as Batista winning the Rumble.

I don't mind comedic characters. I liked Santino when they threw that angle at him. I also liked Zach Ryder. Even this Boleve guy could make me smile, if he's a super positive, over the top comedic character. But Adam Rose just seems like a bad Austin Powers rip off.

I'm not a fan of comedy matches so I doubt I'll enjoy the gimmick that much. But you're right: the guy is solid. And it does show they're trying some measure of variety.

I agree. I love Punk but he has no right to waltz back into the company and get a run with the belt. He screwed himself there.

I don't mind comedic characters either. I mean, Kurt Angle spent a lot of time in WWE working comedy skits, but he was Kurt Angle. I also loved Santino back when he was a comedic heel (I think it was like 2008). I just lose interest every time they show Rose and his party. Maybe once he gets some actual character work, it'll be different, though.

The Adam Rose character is more of an homage to the Aldous Snow character from Get Him to the Greek.

And oh boy, you've got Bo Dallas pegged all wrong... it's not meant to be a comedy character, but he's the greatest wrestling troll of all time. He acts like a super babyface, but he's got one of the most punchable faces you'll ever see. Once you see it in action, you'll know what I mean. He was originally pushed as a good guy on NXT, but the crowd hated him so much for the forced babyface routine that they turned him into a heel where he thought the crowd still loved him. It's gold, but it may not translate to these main roster crowds because it's pretty subtle character work. We shall see.
