This Bryan/Kane stuff is just woeful. I get it, they want to make Kane threatening. The physical beatdown he did on Bryan a couple of weeks back, with the three Tombstones, did that. But now they're just turning him into a cartoon character. And while Kane is pretty much bulletproof, in that it seems he has been able to do an infinite amount of nonsense over the years and still remain somewhat credible, all this crap could potentially hurt Daniel Bryan. His mic work has improved to the point where he can cut a really good promo, but he isn't yet at that top tier level of charisma where he can sell even a rotten segment and make it almost feel worthwhile. He just looks lost out there. And while Bryan and Brie seem like a lovely couple in real life, on TV, every time Brie appears I'm reminded of what a grating, wooden, unlikeable TV presence the Bellas have always been. She's dragging Bryan down like a millstone around his neck, and hopefully there are no plans to make her his valet long-term beyond this current storyline.
As others have said, though, it's one stinker of a week after a couple of months of great booking for Bryan, plus even amidst it all he still managed to have a good match. I don't see it killing his heat just yet. And I can see this as WWE Creative "testing" Bryan, to see if he has the chops to handle the goofiest of "SPORTZ ENTERTAINMENT!" stories that a top guy will have to deal with from time to time: see also, John Cena VS Bray Wyatt. But they need to rebound with some competent booking next week to avoid this story becoming a total car wreck.
