The WTF Moments Of Spider-Man 3

My WTF moment is just a silly idiotic one but it kind of bothers me I guess.

Here's the scene, two young people, in the year 2007. Getting together, having fun, cooking dinner, and they're listening to Chubby Checker's The Twist?

Huh?

I just don't see someone about 23 willingly listening to that. It didn't need to be Black Eye'd Peas (thank God it wasn't) but this just seemed not very believable.

The Big Band ballads didn't bother me, but the twist did. Odd, I know.

My brother is 18 and he's a fan of Beach Boys! C'mon, this is not SO important... the WTF moments unfortunately are not these.

I suggest you to read the John August (Burton's screenwriter) topic.
Peter bited by spider is a coincidence who's a premise, and it could be ok.
Eddie being in the same church of Peter becoming Venom is really too much.. you can use some coincidences as premise, or several coincidences for minor story points, but you cannot build an entire story that's all based on coincidences to accept "just because".

Characters in SM3 were no SO faithful like prequels: Eddie is not a bastard, is a dumb. Sandman has not humor. Peter is cathatonic unless the prequels and unless the comic.

Think about the structure way of SM3 pretend to be taken and you'll find that he's not SO different from B&R. He's better of course, because of CG and actions (wondeful, i admit).
Well coincidences don't just occur for hero origins. They're there for villains too. Goblin got his powers the same night as Spider-man. Doc Ock's machine happened to malfunction while Peter Parker was there. Flint Marko stumbled upon a nuclear testing facility. Eddie Brock happens to be in the same church as peter when he's removing the symbiote. These are classic comic booky coincidences.

Yes, but in this movie there are really too many coincidences that would been easy evaluable. Just for example: if Brock would have to notice Spidey on top of the church by following him for take a picture of the black suit, it would be a lot better for the story. He would have a reason to be here. If Spidey would notice that symbionte's weak point is sonic waves (why not during the train sequence in the Sandman battle?) his reason to be on the bell tower would be so logical. Instead, we must accept all of this "just because". A comic is a comic, but a movie must have, considering his nature, a more *realistic* version of the story, since it's all in bones and flesh and it is a media very followed by adults.

There was nothing wrong with the dancing part unless you wanted there to be something wrong with it.
MJ running from her wedding smiling, the first cake girl scene, and Doc ock throwing a car at Peter and MJ are all worse.

Something wrong with it? How about taking much-needed screen time to develop Peter's STRUGGLE with the symbiote (you know, going too far in stopping criminals, maybe pushing someone around [Harry? That would add to plot... Harry would be more easily justified in his vengence against Peter]), instead of creating the most pointless dance sequence in the history of movies.

Why not have the aforementioned confrontation with Harry, after which Peter would explain to MJ that he's tired of feeling guilty about Norman's death, he shouldn't have to explain himself to Harry, it's not his responsibility, to which MJ could respond 'It's not? (pause as Peter turns away) You're right (he looks back). You are different (she exits).

Excuse my condensed screenwriting into a paragraph, but you get the idea.

But no, we got emo hair, dancing, and cookies.

O.K why did MJ run to Harry's aid when he was stabbed and thrown by Venom? Correct me if i'm wrong, but the last time she saw this *******, he choked then slammed her into a wall, and then made her break up with the only man who truly loves her by threatening to kill him....

..is it because she saw he came to help Peter...? Still, she was pretty damn forgiving considering....

Is there a reason why the police withheld the information about Flint killing Ben from the Parkers? Or did the police just find that info out and then proceeded to tell the Parkers? I can't remember exactly.

Here's another one... how about MJ's almost complete lack of reaction when Harry grabbed her and threw her against the wall. The look was just sort of 'huh?'. I was expecting some sort of reaction, maybe even a "Harry, what are you-" (insert explanation here).

Here's another question. Does MJ ever, in fact, find out about Norman Osborn? Which adds even more to the 'way isn't she freaked out by this?' thought.

The same ridiculous reason, Harry quickly forgave Peter, sure he discovered that Peter didn't really kill his father (easily forgivable) but he than went on to disfigure his face an issue that would of plagued him for the rest of his life, f-uck that, I would be pissed!

I think after being on a personal vengeance trip, trying to kill Peter and making M.J. break up with him, he has no right to complain about his face.

Oh I don't know about that, I mean had he not died and had to live with a hideous disfiguration, he would be pretty pissed. He seemed extremely happy to just tag team smiling and upbeat with Peter after their possibly fatal fight.

Thank god he was killed off.

Yes, non-sense because it's not realistic.
I know NOBODY that would have such a reaction seeing a scene like that.
It's a TRAGEDY, a girl who's about to die. The character's reaction to this scene is a pure non-sense, something totally insane.

:up::up:

Yes; what exactly did Eddie Brock say?

These were the asinine statements that pulled me out of the movie, not in.

DID anyone think that the symbiote score sounded like parts of the INCREDIBLEs score

when parker first put on his black costume and was outside i was taken to my experience watching the incredibles, the trumpet music was pretty much identical and took me out of the scene completely

Nuff said, OverMyHead, "pulled OUT and not in".

Eddie said something like "hi i'm eddie brock jr. sir" (first of a neverending introductions of him) "your daughter -he he- is about to die and can i take a picture? Oh sir, i'm flirting with your daughter"..

Someone told me "it's just because they know spidey's coming..." - bleah, what a weak reason!
A movie must not recognizing himself as a movie. The drama must be *realistic* to get emotions. I never knew if during this torture i had to cry or to smile, every scene is done for our emotional confusion...

Well I thought the fight between Peter and Harry in the mansion sounded like they were about to jive with jazz

Best line not in the movie:
Jonah Jameson: Staff job goes to the one who brings me a picture of Spider-man gettin' the crap kicked out of him!
Hell, I've even got the headline: "Sandman Puts Spider to Sleep!"

November Rain, did you find anyone who went to your Spiderman showing?

I can't imagine anyone from my area (essex, Chigwell) being on the Hype and going to my cinema.

not quite yet but there were about 20 odd people at the first showing on friday morning and i think i recognised at least one hype member...

i just didn't want to shout it out to make myself sound more nerdy than needed to be.

I'm sure someone will pm me during may sometime...

ok not sure this was mentioned but my biggest wtf moment was when the waitress asked Harry how was the pie, and Harry responded the way he did, totally out of character. This film was so stupid I kept forcing myself not to walk out. That would be a waste of 8.50!!! I will never trust another critic again!!

And they'll be saying, this movie went Over My Head.

And you know what?

It literally did. hahhhahhaahhaha!

This movie was embarrasing, none the least.

You know this is the 80th time weve been let down like this before, alot of Marvel films are overhyped, so that us stupid fans will just keep throwing money away. With Arad calling fans 'idiots' and the amusement park move to the United Arab Emirates, Im kinda getting the feeling that maybe Marvel doesnt like us.

The scene where spideys going to face venom and the sandman; the odd american flag shot behind him. wth?

Ok, that was stupid, if he wanted to get info from Peter why did he tried to kill him?

I actually liked the cookies part :oldrazz: ... but I agree with you
