The WTF Moments Of Spider-Man 3

Mine was the absence of a kickass cgi web-slinging scene at the end like the first 2 films had. I always loved that part of these movies.

Any idea why there was none? Money? Time? Laziness? :(

I think it wouldn't fit with the story they decided to tell us. Just imagine them huging, and then the triumphant swinging, I don't think it would have made much sense.

Although if they wanted to, they could've thought about something to end the movie with the swinging.

D!

The first Spider-Man had it's web-slinging sequence take place as Pete was at a funeral. It only fit because Pete came to grips with what happened in the movie and realized what had to be done and accepted it.

The same thing could've been done with the third film easily, we just needed a voice over of him understanding why revenge isn't the best way to deal with certain situations, and that forgiveness is the right path.

As Raimi said, these films are about seeing Peter/Spider-Man become the hero we all know and love, and this film was another step in his development (or not, depending on which bandwagon you've chosen to ride on).

It ended with Spidey becoming a stronger human being and superhero I think, perhaps a bit more humbled, which a web-slinging sequence would've been perfect for :(

My WTF moment was...the entire 2.5 hours of the movie, and why the eff I hyped over it for 3 years. So much WTF happened in Spider-Man 3 that I now like SM 1 and 2 less, and they used to be 2 of my favorite movies ever. Raimi dropped the ball and here's to hoping he doesn't attempt a SM4.

I absolutely agree. Facts are that the franchise is moving to a childhood target and i just can't stand it anymore.

There it is :woot::woot:

I agree with that from the Hollywood concept of children. There they think children are mindless little creatures able to like anything that looks pretty or sounds funny. :csad:

Saw the flick this afternoon for the fist time.

About HALF the flick qualifies as a WTF moment. The other half has too much of a point and just comes off as a set-up for the lame battle royale in the end.

Still, the biggest WTF of the flick isn't even a moment.

James Cromwell????!!!! Really??? Get the f**k out of here. :woot:

I think it has been mentioned but... Harry as Spiderman's Robin... wtf.

Man, that tag-team thingy when they were gliding/flying up inside the construction site was just awful. :wow: :wow: :wow:

Spidey couldn't just *ride the bloody thing or hold onto it or Harry* because...?????

Oh I don't know about that, I mean had he not died and had to live with a hideous disfiguration, he would be pretty pissed. He seemed extremely happy to just tag team smiling and upbeat with Peter after their possibly fatal fight.

Thank god he was killed off.

Well maybe the scar wasn't permanent. it looked as thought it had healed pretty quicly from the time Pter cause the damage, until he came back and asked for help. So maybe the scar would continue to heal up all together because of the performance enhancers.

Speaking of which, i watched Spiderman 1 again this morning, and during the final battle between GG and Spidey a pumpkin bomb blows up right in Pete's face about the same distance as it did in Harry's face...but no scar for Spidey..

...and why the **** does Spidey's spider-sense go off when MJ is about to slip and fall on the juice in the HS lunch scene (SM 1), yet doesn't go off AT ALL in Spiderman 3..? Is MJ falling on her ass, dangerous to Spiderman?

but you know what? of the three spiderman films, it will be the most discussed. Like The Phantom Meance, there was so much potential for a good film in there, they just got mutated into a weird mess/

People (or at least, I) dont discuss perfect films as much as flawed ones.

The last 20 min. of Phantom Menace was glorious though. It really was, the music w/ the lightsaber clashes and the space battle was neat. The musical score was amazing.

Young's music really REALLY sucked and the battle ROYAL supremely sucked. There was no melee between Venom and Spider-man, Just some alternating kicks whenever spider-man tried to reach mary jane. And venom's death was really, really boring. And at some point Sandman decides to stop screwing around and meets up w/ peter to discuss his forgiveness and "FLIES" away! All while harry is bleeding to death.

Don't forget the cheerleading section. :woot:

Cause for some reason standing about 100 feet to a f****n TITAN makes any sense whatsoever. :woot:

I loved the movie-obviously many didn't buuuut...

Biggest WTF moment to me was:

Sandman crying. This is doesn't work in a few ways.

If we are meant to believe Marko is totally composed of sand..can sand cry?

If water affects him, wouldn't his face be affected?

And yes, there was a lot of crying...I accepted it all...until that point.

I've yet to have a second viewing so...when did Sandman cry?

When talking to Peter about his daughter toward the end.

i think also a big WTF is from the fans who say that venom knows about sandmans daughter because he knows what peter knows.

First of all, I can buy that this is Brock's church. What I cannot buy is that Peter- as Spidey- went to the first church he could find with a high tower (he didn't know about what the bells would do in this story, unlike in the comics where Reed Richards told him sonic waves hurt the symbiote, so the only reason I can assume he went to the tower in the movie was because it was high up and seemed empty at that time of night) and it just so happened to be Eddie Brock's church, where Eddie Brock was downstairs in the middle of the night asking God to kill Parker. This is not one, but several coincidences!

And in the comics, by the way, Brock wasn't at the church. The Symbiote slinked off and FOUND Brock. So this version wasn't true to Venom's origin-- But then NONE of this was, and that's why I think Venom should never have been in the movie at all. I hate Venom, and just about everything else spawned from the Secret Wars (except maybe Arachne) and always thought he was a lazy, stupid, one-dimensional character, so his origin means nothing to me.

Doc Ock was robbing the biggest bank in town. Aunt May was at the biggest bank in town to get a loan. These things, while coincidence, make some sense. Eddie Brock wandering into a church into the middle of the night to pray for Peter's death is not a logical step for the character, didn't happen in the comics, and made no real sense. It was just a convenient way to get the costume onto him.

They should make a new cut without ANY Venom in it. I bet it would make a little more sense right away.

maybe they both went to the biggest church in town. maybe parker decided to go to a church to pray or whatever. maybe he was sitting outside because the church dwellers didnt think spiderman all covered with evil alien goo was good for their image. dont you think parker would have walked in i he didnt have that symbiote all over him and couldnt get it off? it was a great scene. and venom rules by the way.

They both went to the same church because it was across the street from the Jazz Club, to where Eddie followed Peter and Gwen.

I think all these moments are part of Raimi's plan to make Spider-Man 3 into an audience-participation movie, like Rocky Horror Picture Show.

We're supposed to yell "****e!" when MJ kisses Harry!
I was the only one who yelled that!

Flash then Harry then Jameson then Pete then back to Harry again wtf??

You're incorrect. In the comics, Brock goes to the same church Peter ditched the symbiote at, in the middle of the night, to pray. The costume was still in the church and came out to bond with him. The movie only shortened the time between Parker's rejection and Brock's bonding with the symbiote.

Peter went to the church to banish the evil, what could be a more convenient place, he was washing away his sins. Brock ironically went to church to pray for a sin, a higher power delivered his wish.

I posted this in another thread but...

It took me seeing this movie to realise how wrong Dunst was for the role of MJ. First of all i don't find her in the least bit attractive, yet she can bounce from one guy to another at ease, as if she's gods gift to men ..

And is MJ a ho or what? I mean She goes from Flash, to Harry to wanting Peter, then to John and then finally ends up with Peter, to only again end up kissing Harry. I mean come on, all these guys have a connection of some kind, and no other woman appears in any of these guys lives when they're not with MJ. Sam has really made it look like everyone in the Spidey-universe has had a piece of her pie, and she's not even hot...at all!

All i can say is she must have the best p***y in the NY state area for all this hoopla to be over her

Dunst has progressively declined in the looks department over these three films, I largely blame her large weight loss
