A realistic X4 team to me would be:
Iceman, Kitty, Rogue (hopefully if cure is temporary), Colossus, Gambit (hopefully), Angel, and Jubilee.

But they would need Wolverine or Storm to even get the project green lit.

Actually Beast or Colossus lead the X-Men later on according to the Marvel lore.

But then again its FOX Lore atm from what I see

Anyway Mavel lore Beast does lead the X-Men for a while.

Colossus has some maturing to do I think from his character of what is portrayed so far on the big screen.

Rogue never getting her true powers on bigscreen? OMG that would be such a waste if FOX does away with who she really is if there are any other movies.

Rogue hasnt even met/ battled Miss Marvel yet - those who know the time line --- this collision is where Rogue attains her powers to Fly and attain the Superhuman strength permenantly.

Later on Rogue is able to resumon former powers she has had contact with in her past - but that is much later as she matures.

And of course Rogues true love that her heart falls for is Gambit - despite the issue of physical contact.

Emma seducing Iceman and then controling his mind to do her bidding

........and in the process Emma breaks down the boundries within his mind of what he truely can do with his gift.

Iceman then discovering that he really can do more with his talent - But having difficulty controling it.

Perhaps I donno maybe then introducing the belt he has to wear? That isnt exactly right to the Marvel mythos but --- hey /shrug.

Well in X3 Wolverine seemed much less like how he was in the first one. I think Jean even told him that Xavier 'tamed' him. Gambit could be introduced as someone quite like how Wolverine used to be, and Wolverine can be all 'been there done that'.

Introduce Gambit as a central, new character and a new villian, working with or without Magneto, it doesn't bother me. That's all X4 really needs.
I can see that after putting off including Gambit, they will make it worthwhile in the end.

That is why I think Gambit would be the new Wolverine so to say. He would be intially bad, "untamed", and a rogue, but he somehow ends up with the X-Men and he is the bad @ss everyone loves.

After seeing X3 and really enjoying it, except for the fact that my favorite mutant Jubilee still has nothing to do, I've come up with some possibilities for X4.

Okay-
Definate team members in my view:
1) Iceman- his field status has increased in every film- seeing as his fight scenes were short and sweet, I think he needs to be kept on and developed.
2) Kitty- she was definately my favorite new addition to the team- nicely written, and awesome power scenes.
3) Colossus- the team still needs a protector and a 'tank' character. With Beast out of the picture with his new job, Colossus is the obvious choice.
4) Wolverine- the team still needs a field leader or trainer, plus Logan is a big selling point for the franchise.
5) Storm- Halle has said she wants to return for another film... she will obviously be the leader of the X-Men and take more of a sideline approach to help out the team in battle like Xavier did.
6) Angel- his character was okay in X3... seeing as he didn't get to fight, but just do heroics... he'd be good to keep on the team as a scout or support.

New Recruits/New Bad Guys-
1) Jubilee- other than Colossus, Kitty, and Iceman, Jubilee is the only X-Kid to have appeared in all three films... she is always shown being attentive in the classroom. She appears to be the oldest X-Kid, and adding her to the team would be a wise choice, since her ranged powers would replace Cyclops'. The X-Men team is also lacking in females seeing as Rogue is now basically out of the picture.
2) Gambit- I think Gambit should at least cameo in the next film... but I have a feeling that his character will be a bad guy this time around... he's too much of a rebel, just like Wolverine, to make his character fresh... as a bad guy, he'd really have a better chance to showcase his powers.

X-Kids-
1) Siryn- I still think Siryn is best kept as a student... her powers aren't as controllable as the other characters, and she would break her teammates eardrums in battle . She could always have a decent speaking role or danger room scene, just no battle powers.
2) Jones
3) Artie
4) Leech

Allies-
1) Beast- since he is busy with politics, he will only be able to communicate with the team instead of helping battle.
2) Moira McTaggart- obviously given her scene at the end of the film w/ Xavier.
