Theories about our Existence

There are a number of theories at work here. I'm one that thinks that we don't have the capability as humans to understand how the universe works, and that we probably will never have that capability. Existentialism is fun when there are creative thoughts on the subject matter, therefore I sometimes like to think about what goes on beyond what we can't comprehend.

One particular theory I like is that the universe is composed of trillions of universes within it that also hold trillions of universes within them. In this theory the universe is also a smaller part of another universe that houses trillions of other universes as well. If you somehow reached the end of the universe you might break into another universe and discover that you are inside the atom of a random person's fingernail. If you somehow shrunk yourself to sub-atomic levels you may find that what keeps those small particles working is another miniature universe that lives and breathes on its own.

Where do we go when we die in this example? Well our souls are just energy that travels throughout this mass of realities. When our physical bodies expire we travel to another physical body in another part of our universe, or we travel to an entirely different universe to inhabit another physical body. One of the reasons I like this particular theory is that I believe that experience is what we get out of existence. I think we should experience all there is to offer except AIDS. I'm pretty sure we scientifically know no to go experience AIDS unless it's of the bizarro kind.

Very well said E-Man. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the Buddhists and Hindus were on the right track in developing the idea of reincarnation. It actually makes the most sense from an existentialist point of view. We do the best that we can in our current lifetime and when we die our matter and energy is transferred (circle of life).

Yet, this still poses the question about a possible creator or creators. That we will never know. Still when you look at the structure of the universe, everything remains consistent. The cycles and patterns hint to a driving force. Then what created that force? It goes onto infinity. It boggles the mind.

I can't believe that there is a creator or creators because something would have to create them in the first place. If there is a god, then he/she must've been created by something other than itself. Its existence would mean that it is a part of creation itself, and not necessarily the ultimate creator of the universe. It would just be another creature, albeit more powerful than most living things in the universe. All that would mean to me is that it has less rules to adhere to than we do.

Or maybe there really is a god somewhere. That one preacher certainly figured it out on Coming to America. lol

Apparently Steve Hawkins believes existence exists because it has to and it doesn't need a God.

I try to break it down to the simplest science I can. When I think about things/people/me as just a collection of particles, and just a sychronisity of functions, I think existence just IS. There isn't a why... it's just happened.

When I try and go beyond the particles, I actually go to a dark place in my head. When I think of where all the 'particles' have come from, and where the first one's originated, I just see this deep black... scares the bejesus out of me!

Makes me realise how much more comforting it would be if I believed in God and just accepted that.

But I just can't... and the idea that we never ever ever can trace existence back, because there truly is no way of knowing what a beginning was...

What was there before there was the first atom... and what formed that first atom, that first speck of anything existing at all?

Yeah I don't think i should ever spend too much time thinking about it...

This is why the experiments with the Large Hadron Collider are so important. These questions are why so much time and money have been spent on it. I'm pretty excited to see what comes out of these experiments over the next decade.

God is looking for a successor and like a billion sperm we race toward our goals with no idea of what's at stake.
