CCA recently provides a rundown of casting rumors and stories.
Actor Sterling Wolfe, who has recently been rumored to be a contender for the role of Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men movie, checked in with Harry Knowles of Ain't it Cool News to set the record straight. Wolfe, who has appeared in movies like Payback and Austin Powers, told Knowles that he has read for the part, would love to play the part but he has no idea if he's a leading candidate or not.
" Consider it confirmed -- [laughing out loud], to say, as did [Corona Coming Attractions], that I made quite an impression on the 'casting supervisor' is strangely phrased, but yeah ... [laughing out loud] ... it's accurate. However ... it ranks up in the big 'who cares' bin. On this shoot, if you have not impressed [director] Bryan [Singer] directly, then it's basically meaningless," Wolfe told Knowles.
Wolfe later told Knowles that the " truth is that my agent has not heard directly from production in well over a month
Corona Coming Attractions reports that Loren Dean (Mumford, Billy Bathgate) may soon be announced to be the actor to play Scott Summers in the upcoming X-Men movie. Although no announcement appeared this week it is possible that CCA's information may be correct. We consulted with our source at Donner/Shuler-Donner on Tuesday. He told us they were very close to signing someone, but wouldn't give us a name. He did tell us that a deal should be completed and an announcement made within a week at the most. While this isn't exactly corroboration, our source's timeline does match up with that reported by CCA.
For Cyclops Corona mentions Ed Burns (Saving Private Ryan), Johnny Lee Miller (Trainspotting), Thomas Jane (The Thin Red Line), Luke Wilson (Rushmore), Jude Law (eXistenZ), Paul Rudd (200 Cigarettes) and Jason Lee (Chasing Amy).
Corona claims that Alicia Witt (Urban Legend), Charlize Theron (Mighty Joe Young), Selma Blair (Cruel Intentions) and Minnie Driver (Tarzan) are all in contention for the role of Jean Grey. In addition, AICN has heard that Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager) for this part.
An AICN spy reports that Bryan Singer has made a formal offer to Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump, Ransom) to play Wolverine in the X-Men movie. This news was allegedly gathered at a wrap up party for the movie Snake Eyes which Sinise appears in. The same spy also reports that the same role has been offered to Elias Koteas (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Exotica).
