Things You Don't Understand

I don't understand chains of bad luck. I've never believed in luck... But I'm certainly moving toward believing it.

I And I don't understand how anyone can eat McDonalds or Burger King...how can you pay money out of your own pocket for garbage like that?

What's so hard to understand about it? It's incredibly convenient, it's tasty, and it's cheap. Sure it's also horrible for your health, but living healthy is hard work. Otherwise everyone would be doing it. I can't think of a single person on Earth who actually wants to be unhealthy. And if there is, it's likely a mental disorder of some kind. The greatest challenge for health-types and for science is to make living healthy easier or at least as easy as living unhealthy currently is. Till they figure out how to do that, the purveyors of unhealthy products will always win this fight.

Co-sign, and great avy. It's called fast food for a reason. Cooking requires skill and time, fast food doesn't. If you're tired, you don't feel like fixing something. Hence the popularity of fast food and microwaves. You've also got to take into account that when hunger hits, the stomach controls you. You bend to it's will, and you'll eat anything for it to stop. You're not thinking, "Oh I'm going to make a nice healthy meal for myself. Where is the lettuce?" You're thinking, "MUST FEED NOW! 20 minutes too long to make meal! Hulk eat NOW!":bh:

Not to mention, much more $. Healthy food purveyors don't do themselves any service by jacking up their prices. It's like, "Oh, we want the whole world to be healthy but what we really want is a fat payday!"; and they wonder why people don't buy their products more. I recently went to a Whole Foods market and that **** is outrageously priced much of the time.

I don't understand why we all live in a world where the most important thing is money.

Granted, I know about John Locke and what he said about unequal positions being essential or else, we'd all have chaos, but I am not talking about actual jobs/careers. I am talking about money. The world would be a much better place if it didn't revolve around money. Civilization would advance more productively if all people truly wanted to do what they wanted to do. Here's an example: somebody who wants a certain job/career chooses not to because it doesn't pay much and/or opts to be a doctor or lawyer instead. What if what that person wanted to truly be would have benefited mankind in some way and made their life full of happiness? If we all became what we were good at, we'd flourish because of it. Also, a person who actually wants to be a doctor would probably end up being a better doctor than somebody who chose the profession because of money.

I'm just sayin'

I don't understand why it's hard to get on this site much of the time. I'm always fighting with "Internet Explorer cannot display" bull**** half the time and it really drives me up the ****ing wall.

I agree with you about how we shouldn't be so centered on money. If everyone did everything for free, then we'd have a lot less things to worry about. But the way of human existence is incentive. We only do things for incentive. I said that if everything we did was free things would be better, but not many people would see it that way. If people were working in a mine shaft, they'd want to see some kind of immediate incentive. Even though in my example they would have a beautiful home, they would never have to worry about food since it's free, and they would never have to worry about medical bills since the doctors work for free, they want something specific to them for their hard work.

Another thing is also regulation, and the fact that we're a greedy species. If food was free for all, how many people do you think would try to hoard everything for themselves? They'll go to the store, and even though there will always be the opportunity for free steaks, they'll get as many steaks as they can without worrying about their brethren getting some. So people need to be regulated, because if there was no regulation, people would fight over free steak and burgers and end up killing each other. You also need regulation to make sure things get done. Imagine if everything was free, and people just did what they want. Well then everyone would try to be a musician, and we'd have 6 billion songs for free at the Best Buy while no one farms our food. So who is going to regulate this? It would take some time to do this, and those people aren't going to do the extra work without some kind of incentive. That incentive would be money.

Besides, equality of something that us humans have opposed for our entire existence. We can't stand the idea that we're all equal in something, so we create stupid divisions to feel superior over others. It's really stupid when you think about it, but we are an emotionally driven species as opposed to a logical one.

Then you're doing it wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong.

Go to a health food store. They are almost always more expensive than a regular market or fast food restaurant. I can fill myself up at McDonald's for under $5 at McD's with zero preperation, planning or fore-thought. That is the very definition of both cheap and convenient food.

sounds like dirty hippie talk to me...you don't like the game, get out of the way...go live in Oregon, eat granola and make your own clothes:oldrazz:

I don't understand how someone (my dad) can have a PhD in Education and still be a meat-cutter for a living...?

Nah. He's always applying for teaching jobs and is always one of the few the school actually picks out of everyone that applied for the job to interview, but to no avail. I think he may be over-qualified, if that's possible.

Go to a health food store.
That's your problem. You can eat far more cheaply and healthily without going to a health food store than you can at virtually any fast food joint.

Again: you're doing it wrong. :yay:

for some places yes...being overqualified means they have to pay you more than someone else who they could get for cheaper...now is not the best time to negotiate for salary

At colleges or regular public schools?

I'm not a hippie..........during the day time.:o

I don't understand how I hate cheese. I mean I don't even like the smell of cheese. Yet for some reason I can eat pizza. It is the only food with cheese that I eat.
