Things You Don't Understand

I think he was only talking about quality, not BO

They're inseperable for a film this size.

That's ok -- but it's not what his post was about..

Not trying to beat a dead horse here but his post was about not understanding why people hate the film so much. You really can't answer that w/o bringing box office into it.

I dont understand why people smoke cigarettes. If you smoke, congrats on the slowly killing yourself and everyone around you thing. :down:dry:

There are too many people on the planet anyway  Think of it as voluntary population control.

I don't understand why people call them "gays" instead of "people", like they're a different species or something.
Ok but if we did that his question would've gone a little something like this, ''I don't understand why people want the institution of marriage rather than simply accepting civil union benefits.'' See the difference.

I don't understand why some homosexuals are fighting to be married in a church a.k.a God's house. God isn't particularly fond of the lifestyle. I wouldn't fight to go to a racist's dinner party . Unless people just like the way the inside of a church looks.

If someone wants to kill themselves, they can go right ahead, just don't get any of your crappy nasty smoke smell on me.

Why do people buy bottled water? Water's effin free. Plus there's some potentially harmful chemicals used in the plastic bottle.

I don't understand anyone who would willingly shell out money to go see My Sister's Keeper.
I'd rather spend an evening ******ing a dwarf with razorblades in my mouth than watch that piece of **** movie.

^Change My Sister's Keeper to Transformers 2 and you've pretty much described my last cinematic experience. ;)

I don't understand why people thought Transformers was gonna be some kind of great epic. I hate to break it to you, but the original cartoon wasn't that good either.

I don't understand why this keeps getting posted in the TF movie forums as if it's some kind of final answer to shut up the critics of the movies.

1. The TF cartoon was a 1980s TV series aimed at kids.

2. The TF: ROTF movie is a 2009 PG-13 big-budget blockbuster that features violence and adult (if not "mature") humor. The fact that the film is based on the cartoon has no bearing on the film's script quality, editing or coherence, which are ALL lacking.

The point is (at least my point was) that Hollywood has a tendency to not take movies such as those based on toy lines, video games and comic books seriously. Their newfound respect for comic book properties is a step in the right direction, but it's still a new concept in a genre that's been around for a while. I just don't understand how some fans can't see that a movie like G.I. Joe isn't going to be taken seriously as anything other than a popcorn action flick. Mind you, I'm not saying that there's no way to make a deep, compelling G.I. Joe film, just that Hollywood won't do it.

When you say taken seriously, you mean by the audiences or by the producers..?

Talking about Transformers: I love popcorn action flicks, but I don't need a bad sex joke every 4 mins and dogs humping.

I love popcorn action flicks, but just browsing in some of the forums, it seems that fans are looking for an Oscar caliber story.

I don't about an Oscar caliber story but action movies are not as good as they used to be..

There are those people who seem to be expecting that, yes. Myself and a lot of others just wanted to see the robots we love punching and shooting each other in the face.

I don't know if that's all that true. Yeah, there were some excellent action movies in years past, but that doesn't mean that all of them were gold.

You comparing today's movies to the Stallone/Schwarzenegger/VanDamme/Segal days? Cuz I sure as hell miss those. The Rock, Matt Damon, and Vin Diesel aren't cuttin' it :o

We get that. And I understand we can't get 2 hours of it because it'd be way too expensive (and boring, probably) -- but why fill the rest of the movie with crude humor, stupid unfunny jokes and slow-motion breast-swinging to keep wankers happy..?

That's what I meant: old ones = better. By the way, the Bourne trilogy kick ass :o

I said the robots we love. Who loves Skids, Mudflap, and Wheelie? :cmad: Agreed on the cost issue though.

I only made it about 20 mins in the 2nd one. Matt Damon will always be Ben Affleck's girlfriend to me, not an action hero :hehe:

I just wanted to see a standard Hollywood level of professionalism with regards to the editing, writing, and continuity of an average PG-13 sci-fi blockbuster action film. We arguably didn't get it. :csad:
