I don't understand why people thought Transformers was gonna be some kind of great epic. I hate to break it to you, but the original cartoon wasn't that good either.

I don't understand why this keeps getting posted in the TF movie forums as if it's some kind of final answer to shut up the critics of the movies.

1. The TF cartoon was a 1980s TV series aimed at kids.

2. The TF: ROTF movie is a 2009 PG-13 big-budget blockbuster that features violence and adult (if not "mature") humor. The fact that the film is based on the cartoon has no bearing on the film's script quality, editing or coherence, which are ALL lacking.

The point is (at least my point was) that Hollywood has a tendency to not take movies such as those based on toy lines, video games and comic books seriously. Their newfound respect for comic book properties is a step in the right direction, but it's still a new concept in a genre that's been around for a while. I just don't understand how some fans can't see that a movie like G.I. Joe isn't going to be taken seriously as anything other than a popcorn action flick. Mind you, I'm not saying that there's no way to make a deep, compelling G.I. Joe film, just that Hollywood won't do it.

We get that. And I understand we can't get 2 hours of it because it'd be way too expensive (and boring, probably) -- but why fill the rest of the movie with crude humor, stupid unfunny jokes and slow-motion breast-swinging to keep wankers happy..?

I only made it about 20 mins in the 2nd one. Matt Damon will always be Ben Affleck's girlfriend to me, not an action hero

I just wanted to see a standard Hollywood level of professionalism with regards to the editing, writing, and continuity of an average PG-13 sci-fi blockbuster action film. We arguably didn't get it.
