Found this over on the K-site forums. It's a Twitter from SV writer, Al Septien

celitalaloca @alseptien Here end the hopes that this year would let Clark be the hero, which is right, on his own show. Always the same.
alseptien @celitalaloca The way to become Superman is long and complicated. Do not lose faith

What kind of answer is that? Is NINE years not long enough?

not when you're getting a paycheck...

yea i see nothing wrong with what they said. They still have a full season to go, and we dont know what is going to be happening yet with season 10. They probably havent even started discussions on fully ideals yet for season ten and all that. Also the show is the journey clark takes to become superman.

I think what's getting ridiculous is the people who keep claiming Clark's not a hero. He's saved how many lives over the almost 200 episodes? He's had to make some tough decisions, occasionally resulting in a problem that he has to solve. but we all make mistakes, and that's how we learn for the future.

He's saving lives patroling the city, every night. He's saved every character countless times. He's all but shown his face to the public.

God.

The show started when Clark was supposedly 14/15 years old.

In your typical Superman origin/story in various comics/movies & other TV shows, Superman usually doesn't show up in his full Superman gear, flying around saving Lois Lane with glasses until he is anywhere from 25-30.

In season 10 Clark will be 24/25 & assuming season 10 is the last which it is 99.9% likely it is, Clark's age will line up perfectly with any other version of the character that I know off for the time when the Superman/Clark Kent persona characters show up..

So in answer to your question, NO 9 years is not enough & 10 will be perfect.

There was a time when I believed DBZ was along winded and overly stretched show
Thank you Smallville for proving me wrong and screw you for neutering Superman

I think in general there is some people like myself sick of seeing other characters propped up *cough* Chloe *cough* and Clark made out to look bad in the process. Beyond that as each season progresses the show seems to become less and less about Clark and more about the entire cast(I pinpoint the big divide in that reguard where Clark's story became less important around S5ish, although there were signs as early as S3)

I do think it's a fine line between stalling and trying to tell a good story, but many times it seems the writers choose storylines that don't come off good for Clark(see Lexana) that add nothing to his journey in the big picture.

Exactly.

well that is the thing with any show with a large cast, they have to find a way to work all the characters in. So yea some times certain characters are focused more and others less. No show is ever perfect on that.

yup ending 9th season and tenth season on its way in the fall

I think we're all forgetting that the female CW exec wants more "empowered females" on the show (hence super-Lana), so I guess I can see why they are focusing on Chloe now.

Still sucks.

i would love if they brought cat back at least for an episode.

I think focusing more on other characters keeps them from telling the same story over and over and getting old. I still think they get off track at times but for the most part I can't complain. I also agree that some storylines do make you wonder what they where thinking. Lexana is a good example, I would even include witch Lana. And I still can't stand the SuperLana story. I can't imagin how tough it has to be writting and flimming a Superman show much less one that's putting it's own spin on the mythos.

I think the big problem was the show lacks any focus myself. The producers should have drawn out a 4 year plan for Clark Kent's highschool life. IF the show was going to go on just get rid of all Clark school friends and move him on in his life. That would have saved many plots that were not needed like Lana the witch or Lexana. You basically could cut out a good portion of the stalling by having Clark and Lana together by S3 and go from there for those 2 final seasons.

I know most shows would be hurt losing a good chunk of the cast but I think a show based around Clark and Lex would be strong enough to survive. Added bonus is that if Chloe and Lana were popular enough by the end of the 4 years(which they most likely would be if they not written to death) you could probably shoot them in there own spinoff series.

Revamping the cast a bit would allow the show to tell a whole new bunch of stories for different characters

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Clark should have been where he is now by the end of season six at the latest. Again, that's just my opinion.

Completely useless plots we've had: Lex and Lana, Super Lana, Witch Lana (man I hate Lana), pretty much all of season seven up until the Veritas story, etc. I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.

if i recall i believe gough and millar had a 4-5 yr plan. But then of course the show continue to keep going and all that. I agree after highschool days they should have gotten rid of lana and actually have done more college days or something else.

I agree with every part of this post. Especially that it should have ended on 6.

I always thought that the finale of the series would end with Clark, Zod, KRypto Ken and Barbie in an all out battle Royale, and that leads him to realize that he cant do what he does in such a global scale without taking up the role of superman, and with the show ending with him finally donning the suit.

the only good thing that came out of post-season 6 was Oliver Green. It would have been cool if Adam Knight played out as bruce Wayne, or if oliver was introduced earlier instead of him.

Actually, every show pitched has to have a 1-episode plan, 1 season plan, and a 5 year plan (obvious each doesn't hold the same level of detail)
