This version of Mantis is going to be hilarious. A refreshing take on a female superhero, though I'm sure someone somewhere is going to raise a stink about it. I'd like to see her join the Avengers one day.
Heh, if those lame hypothetical people are annoyed by Mantis, just wait until they're introduced to Captain Marvel or to freaking Spider-Woman.A refreshing take on a female superhero, though I'm sure someone somewhere is going to raise a stink about it.
Yeah, someone will certainly say Mantis isn't serious enough
I would love to see her join too (and Valkyrie as well). Was that bit you said about raising a stink about her being too funny? I don't think so. People are used to comedy in marvel films now and I think she looks wonderful! Love her already
You have no Argument from me Aveit lolShe wasn't serious in the GOTG comics since the team formed in Annihilation Conquest, she looks spot on so far.
I was just saying someone somewhere won't like her because she's not serious enough.
It's interesting, because for old farts like me, the first Mantis that springs to mind was the more human version from the 1970s, so this version of Mantis is very new and intriguing to me.
I'm trying to recall what Mantis was like in the Volume 2 of Surfer. I seem to remember her being different from the first 70's versionAh right, then if that's the case those people don't know the character. I found her a lot like River Tam from Serenity in the comics, bat **** crazy with often hilarious results, but could kick ass when she needed to.
The moment we saw in the trailer got the first part down perfectly.
Yeah, I remember her that way too, but, we have that kind of crazy with Gamora lolIt's interesting, because for old farts like me, the first Mantis that springs to mind was the more human version from the 1970s, so this version of Mantis is very new and intriguing to me.
She kinda looks like Lizzy Olsen.
Basically what Vartha said, that some critics won't think she's serious enough. Especially as a female character, there seems to be the mindset that every female hero as to be like "grrrrr, I am so serious and empowered, because I am fighting gender stereotypes, grrrr." This Mantis is like a kooky, dippy starchild, and I think it's wonderful. I want to see her in the Avengers so she can interact with characters like the Hulk, Widow and Hawkeye. The insulting nickname Tony Stark will come up for her will be next level.
She's like E.T. with better English and less sex appeal.
