I was watching the Punisher last week, and man he would've been a way better Batman/Bruce Wayne than Bale.

I was watching Batman Begins last week, and man he would've been a way better Punisher/Frank than Jane.

what are you smoking? both of you.

I don't know what it is, but it must be pretty potent. I kinda want some of it.

I have to say I agree. Bale has to force agressive machismo, whereas Jane exudes it naturally. Bale should be playing James Bond.

There's more to Batman than just aggressive machismo. Bruce Wayne / Batman is an incredibly complex character. Bale may not have been as aggressively machismo as you would've liked him to have been, but he nailed all the other, deeper aspects of both Batman and Bruce Wayne perfectly. Jane would've been good when it came to being the aggressive badass, but he would've failed miserably at hitting the more complex elements of the character. He's an incredibly 2-D actor IMO. Bale's Bats still needs some work, but I still can't think of any actor out there who could've done it better than him. I'm sure his Bats will be virtually flawless by the time The Dark Knight hits the screen.

I set myself up for that really.

I disagree that Jane couldn't handle the complex stuff, I found his pain and torment as the Punisher more involving than that of Bale's performance in Begins - although much of that is due to Nolan's formal directional style.

Jane is also very good at physical acting, saying a lot with no words. This is obviously instrumental to playing Batman. Looking at the Burton/Schumcher canon, as Batman said more over the course of the series, he became less effective.

So to sum up; Bale is perfect for Nolan's Batman, just as Keaton was for Burton's (and Alec Baldwin was a superb Bruce Wayne in The Shadow). However, were I to make a Batman movie I would cast Jane rather than Bale.

Watch it again......Jane would've been better as Punisher than as Batman.

Wait.....he already is better as Punisher than he is as Batman.

I was watching Batman Begins last week, and man he would've been a way better Punisher/Frank than Jane.

LOL.....probably...

Call me crazy....but.....it's ALOT easier to look like a bad ass when you get to shoot, kill, and maim other people as opposed to holding back.

Atleast, that's what I think.....

Agressive machismo does not mean shooting people. Come on.

Isn't that a rather...broad statement?

I mean, I could say "If Joss Whedon made a Batman movie David Boreanaz would've made the perfect Batman!" But That doesn't mean David Boreanaz should've been cast in BB, or is any better than Bale.

Yeah, kinda sounds like a way around of saying "Your Batman sucks".

Ya know, something a politician would try.

Look, I'm a big Thomas Jane fan, but no friggin way would he have made a better Batman than Bale. No friggin way.

I don't think Bale would work as well as Keaton in Batman Returns. I don't think Keaton would work as well as Bale in Begins. Horses for courses, as they say.

Only one thing, try to imagine Thomas Jane doing the Boring and Stupid play boy that Bale did so well in batman beings. The anwser is pretty clear.

I don't think he was supposed to be boring and stupid, as you put it...whimisical and hedonistic is more like it. But either way, I think Jane could play it. Have you seen his movie Stander?

Well, different words, but the four ones work. Its a different way of description.

And not, i havent seen that movie. But the previous work of Thomas Jane never impressed me. If he is doing in this movie some kind of Bruce Wayne? If its in this way, i want to see that movie and maybe i will change my opinion.

But based on the previous work of both actors what i have seen, Chris Bale is a much better actor than Thomas Jane is. He could pull any role in any genere.

I agree, he could play just about any role and overall he is a better actor than Jane.

Stander was great!
But I really don't agree. Bale was the perfect choice to cast as Batman, he looks the right age. Jane looks somewhat older. Jane could do it, but Bale has the right look and skill.
