Endgame Thor/God of Thunder - Chris Hemsworth

Just like you Thor fans I'm really very disappointed in this show. I couldn't leave the cinema feeling happy knowing about this is how the final avengers movie will end.

Thor was still as powerful as ever in IW, reking Thanos in the first encounter with Thanos in EG by chopping off his arm and then his head. But it's still a weakened Thanos so we never got to see his true strength. Then that's it, that's the end of Thor.

After 5 years he becomes a fat blob and I was secretly hoping he would become back slim and fit by summoning thunder and stormbreaker, after all he is an asgardian right? But as the show progressed this scene never came. Then in the final fight that epic scene came when he summon both stormbreaker and Mjolner and I thought that was it. But no he was still fat and he didn't even put up a fight against Thanos. Instead captain america like you guys mentioned was the new thor and out-shone him in everyway. Basically Thor did **** for the final fight. I really hated it.

Just trying to think positive here, Thor was probably nerfed so badly if not he would have been able to fight Thanos 1 v 1 which would put the other avengers on the sidelines apart from Captain Marvel. And like some of you guys have mentioned, probably he is going to appear in GOTG3 which is way nerfing Thor would be a good way to keep the Thor fans seeking his redemption excited for this new movie. And probably nerfing Thor would be the best way to give Cap America and Iron Man the limelight and to finish off the Avengers series in a manner worthy of them. That's my thoughts on this huge power down.

Still I'm really disappointed, does anyone here feels like me too. I have no mood to work now haha.

Dude, you might want to put most of that in spoiler tags. It doesn't bother me but I know that a lot of people have not seen the movie yet and would not want to be in any way spoiled about the stuff that you just mentioned.

I have been very curious to hear your thoughts on the film the most.

Thor was great in this movie. Great and different. I can see how it can be a turn-off for some people, but credit to Marvel for constantly doing different things with the character.

I enjoyed the movie quite a bit, I give it an 8/10, but Thor himself is a lame and useless.

Glad you enjoyed most of the film. And yeah, I'm not surprised to hear that you felt that way. To be honest, IF you had somehow ended up enjoying his portrayal in this film then I feel like you would have probably been the only one around here who could have convinced me to see things differently since I feel like you really get his character a lot and what makes him different from the rest.

You know, the more that I think about it, the more that I feel that Thor SHOULD HAVE been the one to
wear the new gauntlet and use it to bring back everyone killed from the snap. Given on how Thor felt the most guilt in not killing Thanos when he had the chance of a lifetime, it would have served as a great payoff for him to be the one to undo that effect.

Plus, it would have given an good excuse for him to lose his arm and have it replaced with an artificial one like the version that the King Thor persona uses. And it would have at least given an good excuse on why Thor isn't at full strength in the final battle against Thanos other than him being overweight.

Yeah I see why guys werent huge fans of Thor's portrayl in this, but outside of the action I did really like his scenes with certain characters. Hemsworth was definitely firing on all cylinders here with his performance, although its easy to overlook that stuff when hes lacking in other areas.

I liked Thor in this but his IWs self was better. I understand the direction he went though, makes sense.

When IWs started he just had a giant battle against Hela. He lost his eye, home, his dad. He saved what was left of his people and planned on having some time of piece before another battle. Thanos had other plans Thor then loses half of his people, sees Loki and Heimdall killed right in front of him. He went into all or nothing mode he damn near killed himself for Stormbreaker and still fails to secure the kill. He blames himself for the snap. Some time goes by so they believe they have a slight chance, once Thanos tells them what he did it sinks in that everything was truly gone and he failed. He blamed himself and wanted no more hope.

I actually liked Thor becoming a drunken fat shell of himself because of the guilt from not saving everyone from the snap. It was an interesting direction to take the character and it actually made sense given what all Thor has gone through.

The only problem I had with it was Thor remaining that way for the rest of the film. If he would've turned back into his regular self in time for the final battle it would have been perfect.

Oh and technically
Thor overpowered Thanos for a period of time when trying to keep him from getting the Infinity Gauntlet. Thor forced Thanos to drop down to one knee and summoned Mjolnir to help push Stormbreaker towards his neck.

Well Thor was the MVP of infinity war (along with doc strange).....so i guess they had to nerf him a little so that Cap & Ironman get more limelight (seeing how this looks like their last MCU film).

Waititi will make Thor cool again in Thor 4 (surely there will be another film with Waititi right ?)

Yeah I'm a lot more okay with it than I thought I would be.

GOTG3, who knows after that. He should be in shape by that time, Adam Warlock coming to fight too so he might be really strong if Thor is in that and fights him.

Yeah but i am not sure how
James Gunn
will use Thor. Waititi is the only one who made Thor go up in my estimate. I considered him a Tier 1 superhero (along with batman, supes, wolverine, spidey, ironman) after Ragnork.

3/4 of marvel fans surely considered him Tier 1 after infinity war (especially when he made his enterance during the wakanda war. Those cheers were deafening).... Now i am not too sure.

Yeah I think if this isn't the end of Thor then I guess things ain't so bad. There is hope for him to be great again. Btw how do i do this spoiler tag thingy?

Hit the plus looking button(says insert if you hover over it) between the film and floppy disc icon.

As always Hemsworth's a fantastic Thor, but -

I didn't really like a lot of the creative choices that were made with Thor in Endgame. Between that & Ragnarok, the character has basically become Chris Pratt's Star Lord 2.0. I get that they wanted to show how he had deteriorated mentally & physically since the events of IW, but to me they pushed the character too far into comic relief territory in Endgame.

Liked drunken fat Thor.
  • He honestly reminded me of Odin once he finally put his armour back on
  • He was wielding Mjolnir & Stormbreaker at the same time!
  • His scene with his mother was touching
  • Hemsworth's comedic moments were great, the story about the Aether was a highlight for me.

Well at this point I don't even know what the hell to believe going into this. Some are saying he's badass, even if remarkably different, and others say otherwise. Some are also saying Captain Marvel is not overpowered at all, while others are saying the opposite (which frankly is BS if true. If you're going to nerf Thor, you can damn-well nerf her too).

Power levels are a perceptive thing though: so many have claimed that Wanda and Strange are more powerful than Thor in IW, but I've never seen it, so I guess we'll see

I pretty much never post in forums anymore, but I'm just really nervous that they're going to do Thor dirty while making Captain Marvel the MVP. Well at least if they drop the ball with Thor, I still have Godzilla: King of the Monsters :/

I definitely think Captain Marvel is overpowered which will make giving her real conflict challenging unless they nerf her powers again like her first movie.

But glowing eyes Thor is always awesome.
