Thor release date official: June 4th 2010!!!

Yeah, that came outta the blue.

I guess the THOR-movie will be a prequel or something since they know about him in IM2. How will they know about him if he's in another time and dimension? That's just starting to sound lame, man..

That could be a mis-quote, though...

Maybe, but I wish they wouldn't make these movies dependent on one another before they're even out. Stop all those damn cameos, dammit!

Oh, i disagree. I consider the cameos "fanboy-candy"...:word:

I can live with that, but 2010 is awfully far away and IM2 before THOR I don't get...

I do. I think their plan is this, show a small cameo of the God of Thunder in a giant summer blockbuster movie, that's sure to have a gigantic mass of viewers. Then when the Thor movie comes around, people will all be like "Hey, didn't I see that guy in IM2? What's the deal here? Better check it out."

Imagine the confusion it must cause for the writers. Lol. Currently trying to write a Captain America screenplay that's in Marvel filmverse, but it's hard piecing everything together. So far only connection I know is this:

THE INCREDIBLE HULK SPOILER:
“Over the years, we’ve attempted to recreate Erksin’s super soldier formula to no success. One of the test patients experienced unexpected results, uncontrollable rage and aggression. Currently a fugitive of the U.S. government.”

I read the script reviews and seen parts of it, and it actually does seem like a great way of introducing the character, I'm just really surprised that he will be introduced in Iron Man 2, really can't wrap my mind about how that'll work, sort of hoping he'll be more of a cameo then a central focus, but if that was the case, why make an announcement about it instead of trying to keep it a surprise...

I think this could almost blow the Iron Man 2 movie if too much time is spent on him when there are things like Mandarin and the 10 Rings, War Machine, alcoholism and further development of Potts and Stark to be concerned with...

I'm thinking and hoping that Thor is just a cameo, towards the end. Set up his movie by maybe saying his name and going off some where after saying hi to Tony Stark. I think this would be the best way, not have him be apart of the movie. Just have him meet Tony for a bit than what I said could be the best way to introduce the guy. They need to focouse on Tony trying to face his inner deamons and of course the rings.

Thor won't appear in Iron Man 2..

I just hope that the spectacle of Thor is enriching like Lord of the Rings.. I can understand that a studio didn't want a $300 million budget, but they hopefully won't skimp on the action sequences or maintaining a good grasp of the mythology... do the Ultimate version, since they'll eventually have the Avengers...

I thought it was said in the article that he would appear in Iron Man 2 we just don't know how or when he will if its true. If it does happen just hope its a quick cameo.

Since Thor will be introduced in Iron Man 2, how do you guys (and gals) think it will be handled?

A minor role at the end or a major role throughout the film?

Also, how should he be introduced?

Definitely not a major one, that be a franchise suicide considering everything else that is setup for IM2, I like the idea of just a briefing by Fury as to who these other super humans he mentioned are.

Maybe protesting an oil tanker on the news. The headline is something like, "activist claims to be Norse god."

As much as I hate the ultimates universe for being one of the heavy influences in Marvel games in movies, I could see this sort of working.

Here apparently: http://movies.ign.com/articles/871/871576p1.html

Or did I miss something too?

"Iron Man 2 will hit theaters on April 30, 2010. Thor, which has Stardust helmer Matthew Vaughn attached, will follow on June 4, 2010. The character, according to Marvel Studios' David Maisel, will first be introduced to moviegoers in Iron Man 2."

I hope it'll be something minor, maybe after credits rolled. I don't want Thor to ruin the great thing started by Favearu and RDJ in IM, and if it turns out to be a team-up movie I think IM2 will destroy what works in IM1.

Lol.

Agreed, a team up between Thor and Iron Man for an Iron Man movie just wouldn't work out well. Just let Thor have a quick cameo and that will be fine.

I hate when these producers coming out with dumbass quotes that aren't clarified... "introduced"... does that mean cameo or supporting role? Jeez... why even throw that out there either way?

Maybe they overestimate the intelligence of the fans. I mean, the logical assumption is that it's just like all the other cameos that have been announced. But the fans decide to freak out assuming it's a team-up or something. Why isn't anybody complaining about the Hulk/Iron Man team-up in The Incredible Hulk? Oh wait, it's not a team-up, it's a CAMEO!!!!

I think the simplest way to swing Thor into Iron Man 2 is have Donald Blake show up perhaps in something like Samuel L Jackson in Iron Man?

Fan boys are gonna panic... its what we do... I am just more worried about the fact that they are cramming all the major projects over the next three years. They should do one big movie one small movie each year. I mean Sony might have to wait till 2012 to release SM4 and I really can't see how they'll be happy with that.

Personally, I rather see a Hulk sequel than Ant Man :D

But yeah, that's more problematic if all 4 Marvel Big Guns get sequels & that sequels are perpetuated as priorities (not that I have problems with it, I like the Big Guns prosper). Where's the time for Moon Knight? Where's the chance for Daredevil? Where's the turn for Luke Cage?

Answer: not every single Marvel character will get a movie.

Hell, some of the characters you are mentioning aren't even interesting enough to hold their own monthly solo titles.

Likewise, not every book, broadway show, or play gets made into a movie.

And if studios were pumping out 5 superhero movies each year, the public would get tired of them eventually and ask, "How about something new?"

For example, I like Big Macs. But if someone tried to feed me Big Macs for breakfast lunch and dinner every day, I'd start to get tired of them.

Have faith. I mean, look at Iron Man. That was an amazing film. The Incredible Hulk looks damn good too. Marvel knows what they're doing. This isn't FOX doing these movies any more. They have a plan.

It just seems silly to just get back from watching Iron Man, as great as it was, and assume that they'd screw all that up by having Thor leech Tony's screen time in his own next movie. I mean, I have no problem with seeing the two characters together, since that's what we're getting eventually, but to assume that they'd give a Thor a large role in someone else's movie before he's even had his own is kinda ridiculous. It'll be a cameo, and our proper introduction to Thor will be in his own movie. They wouldn't do it any other way.

Also, none of this should impact Sony's Spider-Man 4 in any way. Sony's an entirely different studio who will work on their movie at their own pace.

But Sony would want a summer release? Its not wise loading a summer like that with Marvel films... DC hasn't announced their plans but rest assured they are targeting something for 2010... I think it will be MOS. I don't think SM4 could fit into that ideal 3 month summer movie span. They may face the same problem again in 2011 with a possible third Nolan movie.

DC might actually not have anything for 2010. The third Batman film will likely be in '11, and who knows what's up with Superman. That'll leave '10 with 3 superhero movies, much like we're getting this year.

DC will have something for 2010, it's 2009 that's going to be bare.

Also I should correct you. We have Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, The Dark Knight, Punisher: Warzone, and Hellboy 2 this year.

No way Sony is releasing Spidey property two weeks after Thor... even three weeks. Or in between IM/Thor... they'll have to settle for July... but if July isn't there? Then it gets pushed back another two years. Plus they are going to have to recast anyway so what is the point in rushing it?

First of all F spiderman.

Second, If Hulk is going to be in the Avengers movie that means we're going to get a live action HULK VS THOR!!

Thirdly, Maybe Thor's introduction in Iron Man will be quick, in the end of the original Thor script he is flying around earth with a narator saying how he is Earth's defender, things like that. Unless the second draft of the script is completely changed from the first.

Way to spoil a movie that's still 2 years away.
