Yes. But as technical clarification, individuals don't evolve. Evolution occurs at the species level over generations.

No individuals don't evolve over time but that individual is the start of that species' evolution. I am not saying one person can evolve over and over again but that one individual through mutation has evolved beyond what their parents were and what their species is and they will either pass that trait on or not. Mutation is instant that affects an individual. Adaptation is over time that affects the species. Both evolve the species.

I suppose my main and only problem with evolution is if we evolved from apes then why are they still there? I suppose if I looked into it then it would all be explained, but I never felt like looking into it cause I'm not really bothered.

Evolution has been show to exist, sure it's not 100% and has somoe gaps but it's better than just ignoring it and shouting "MAGIC!!!"

LOL!

"There's an invisible man, living in the sky, and he watches everything you do, of every second of everyday."

George Carlin.

Yes they can, through mutation. A single off spring can have a trait or gene that none other has.

Humans are pretty much done evolving. None of us are isolated enough from each other for something as insignificant as not having wisdom teeth to make a difference in the survival of our species as a whole.

I believe everything about evolution. Just that when science goes "Um, we're not sure" in regards to why the Big Bang happened, that's where God comes in.
But they did that back in the day, when a lot more was unknown, and as time goes on, more and more things that are "impossible to explain" with science become knowable, wouldn't it stand to reason that eventually there might not be anything left that we need a god to explain away?

Because he felt like it? Idk.

I believe everything about evolution. Just that when science goes "Um, we're not sure" in regards to why the Big Bang happened, that's where God comes in. Literally changes nothing about evolution. I'm very anxious to see what happens with the Hadron Collider. It'll be nice to see what God did with a snap of his fingers.
When you can't explain how something happened, it doesn't mean a god did it. People used to think that the sun was pulled across the sky by a god in a chariot because they couldn't explain the rising and setting of the sun any other way. Others also believed that Zeus was casting down lightning bolts because they didn't understand the physics of this natural occurence.

Today, we may not be able to understand the physics of the beginning of the universe, but it doesn't mean a god did it either. We can explain many things today that ancient people could not, because of the advances of our technology. When ancient people got diseases and sicknesses, they thought it was a punishment from a god, but in actuality it was bacteria or viruses that caused it, which we can see and fight against today.

Who knows what we'll be able to figure out in the years to come...

It's a little astonishing to me that people even have to say "I believe in evolution". It's like saying "I believe in gravity".

I don't know, the jury is still out. I think I heard some guy Isaac Newton has some thoughts on it though.

Even if there was a superhuman born it would still be the exception rather than the rule.
I guess you could take that person and engage in artificial selection, breeding him, killing off the offspring which didn't inherit that super-gene and keep at it for a few generations, and even then it would be a small population that would probably need to be interbreed and set off on an island for thousands of years without contact from normal humans and I suppose at that point there would be speciation.

tl;dr with 7 billion people and counting human evolution is basically done. We won, now let us see how long we last.

Unless there's a cataclysmic event that wipes out most of humanity and changes the environments of the earth, which then causes those who remain to adapt/evolve.

You're right, it doesn't. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how planes stayed in the air and I'd had it explained to me by a handful of physicists and the like. I didn't assume God was holding it up with his magical powers. This one particular scenario(the beginning of the universe), I credit God for.

But what is God mean to you?
A humanoid omnipresent, omnipotent entity?

Humans are pretty much done evolving. None of us are isolated enough from each other for something as insignificant as not having wisdom teeth to make a difference in the survival of our species as a whole.

Stan Lee says otherwise.:o

Stan is the man and I'll never argue against that despite some awful reality t.v. he's been involved in...

Generally when someone says God and not god then they are referring to the Christian God.

Eh, you'd be surprised. There's a reason why the sherpas living in the Himalayas are able to breathe much easier than people who didn't have previous generations living in such oxygen-poor environments. It's a little thing, but it very much exists.

I believe in evolution. There's too much obvious evidence for it not to be true.

I mean go look at any of the Great Apes, they share so many traits with humans. If evolution isn't true, then any possible God would be a huge troll.

If Evolution wasn't true than god would be a dick for making species extinct.

If evolution isn't true, then why is evolution true? :woot:

Why? He is God so in all honesty he could do whatever the hell he wants. If I was God I highly doubt I'd give a crap about some random alien beings I made up in my head....but that's just me.

By the way, I believe in evolution 100% I think its irrefutable. There is too much evidence to deny it. Also when will people accept that evolution can co-exist with the existence of God. There is a HUGE difference between abiotic genesis and evolution; they're two entirely different concepts

I believe in intelligent design/creator but evolution exists to an extent. For example, I believe a fox can change into another type of fox, but it remains a fox. Same as with domesticated dogs, there can be many types but they are still referred to as dogs. As for these changes, the Bible said 'after it's kind' in the creation account in Genesis. I believe that is the extent of evolution.

When does a fox change so much that the fox isn't a fox? The only "kind" that is of concern is life, as life cannot change into anything but life.

I still don't think it's a white man in the sky though.

That's a common misconception though. Not every view of "God" involves anthropomorphism.

Eh Intelligent design is just creationism spun a different way.

It's "all this was created at one point long ago and it has changed over time into what we have now". It's one of those answers to the "why" that science is admittedly incapable of pinpointing.

That would make him a dick.
