Kevin Feige said in a recent interview we should expect an LGBT character soon. Im guessing he's referring to Eternals.

Kevin Feige Confirms LGBT Superhero Is Percolating at Marvel Studios

It's no secret that the last 22 films have been a bit shall we say testosterone driven all though we are seeing change slowly with black panther and just recently captain marvel. And to some extent antman 1 and 2 with Wasp as a strong female supporting lead.

Thor Ragnarok also features an openly bi-sexual character in valkeryi. And Black Widow who was introduced in Iron Man 2 has emerged over the years as once of the MCUs strongest female characters.

My question is how does everyone feel about representation in the MCU moving forward? Do you think Feige and co have a duty to make sure everyone is represented in upcoming films especially when they now have access to X-Men and Fantastic Four.

I just think it’s about time. I wouldn’t say Valkyrie was really “openly” bisexual, either: it wasn’t even hinted at in the film itself, only after the fact. If they do the same with Eternals, I will be quite disappointed. Kevin Feige said, I believe, that he hopes to get the MCU to a point where there are more female heroes than male, and I cannot wait for that day.

Well, we know what Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson think.

A traditionalist would make the perfect villain but who cares? We need a villian people can react to.

That being said, I think it's good to diversify the superhero as with the villains. Might as well have them play off one another.

I think a gay guy and a lesbian woman would make the perfect tag-team duo of respect and tolerance as they clean out the east side docks full of seedy money laundering and solicitations. :ebr:

The fantasy novel I’m writing features something like this: a gay man who is a mercenary, and a lesbian woman on a quest to fight crime, yet, due to circumstances they have to team up: I like respect and tolerance between friends, so they’re quite a fun duo to write about.

That's how you go about it.

The whole notion of gender equality and respecting one's choices not to mention co-worker interactions and acceptable behavior would be exemplified best that way.

Costume wise, both could wear something akin to bowler hats and carry cane's that they swing about like DD's billy clubs; a handslap if you will for inappropriate dock side behavior. :D:

Seriously though, I think that dynamic works best to exemplify the emphasis on tolerance.

With Fantastic Four, I wonder if they can get away with making Johnny Storm bisexual.

So they said things about Valkyrie and Justin Hammer, which they could show off properly in the future.
There's been other characters that are already introduced that in the comics are LGBTQIA+, such as Loki, Korg and Ayo (of the Dora Milaje).

Beyond that it seems that
1. They will have a gay male character in Eternals
2. Quasar (Phyla-Vell) is likely in GotG3 given hints by Gunn, who has also previously said "they might have already" introduced a gay character. I can see them pairing Phyla with Mantis, so that they do not have to introduce another new character, especially one that's supposedly already dead at the hands of Ronan.

And I'd imagine they'll have the Young Avengers (Wiccan, Hulkling, Miss America) at some point. And Hercules.

Hulkling could actually be the result of a Mystique/Irene Adler type relationship between Mar-Vell and skrull princess Anelle? It was said specifically that Srulls copy down to the DNA.

Im excited to see an out LGBTIQ character but I’ve never really thought of any hero as straight

I honestly don't care in the slightest as long as the movies are good and they don't make the fact they are LGBT the crux of the character or the story. As long as you've got a compelling backstory, motives and villains im in no matter what team you play for lol.

Everyone had me thinking I had forgotten a scene from Ragnarok or something when I kept hearing this.

It's fine with me. I support the LGBT community and diversity is part of life. So no big deal

Be great if we eventually got the Young Avengers. Not sure how you'd handle Wiccan's parentage.

Not completely sure either, but it might help that Vision & Scarlet Witch get a lot of time in their Disney+ show. What I'm more worried about is how they'll deal with implied the age difference. Cassie is about 11 now, while Hulkling wouldn't be younger than 30 if his parents remain the same. Though I suppose you could say Kree/Skrulls age differently.

I feel like we'll see Phyla in Guardians 3 since we've already seen Mar-Vell in the MCU. Same goes for Moondragon.

When the X-Men hit, we're looking at Psylocke, Iceman and Storm playing a prominent role, Rictor, Mystique and Shatterstar will likely show up in X-Factor at the same time, Deadpool and Fantomex will appear in X-Force and Northstar will show up in Alpha Flight. I'm also hoping that we get a Champions/Young Avengers series on Disney+ with America Chavez, Marvel Boy, Wiccan and Hulkling with crossovers with Avengers Academy which can give us Striker and New Mutants which can give us Mercury and Prodigy. If Kestrel isn't in the Black Widow film, then hopefully she'll be in a sequel. Maybe something with Jennifer Kale in a Ghost Rider spin-off when the Ghost Riders finally get one and Yukio when we get a Wolverine reboot and Skein if we ever see the Thunderbolts (although I think she's still with Sony since she's part of the Spider-Woman rights).

I really wish that they didn't kill of Agent Hand on AOS and they'll mention that Korg is gay. They also didn't touch on Rawlins' or Loki's sexuality either.

I'm happy with it, love it. But, I also don't think a character being gay should be all the character's about. The character's identity or traits shouldn't be they're gay, it should be they are a hero/villain... whatever the role is... and they happen to be gay.

I'm saying kinda as someone who features LGTB characters in their writing.

If they pander to certain crowds at the expense of fan favorite characters Im just not part of the crowd they want for said character they wanna force change things

Now Joe Russo is saying that a character in the MCU currently is gay - so who do you all think it is? My bet would be on Captain Marvel: mainly because of how strongly Brie and Tessa have been pushing the MarVal ship, plus Anna Boden saying Carol might have a female love interest. Personally, I’d love that - but I would also love if it turned out to be, say, Star-Lord, if only for Chris Pratt’s reaction. James Gunn, much as I dislike him, did say there might already be a gay character in the Guardians roster, so I hope he doesn’t walk that one back. Bucky, obviously, could be gay, and that would make all the Stucky shippers very happy. But I’m betting Carol.
What do you all think?

Bucky wouldn't make much sense since he's clearly into the ladies in TFA. Unless he's bi. Star-Lord would be kind of ridiculous given what we've already seen from him. He bangs anything that moves, no matter how many tentacles they might have.

So let's rule out any character that clearly has shown interest in the opposite sex. That takes away a lot as well as most of the Avengers. Pretty much everyone except Quicksilver (who's dead anyways), Captain Marvel, and Falcon if I remember correctly. Nebula would make a lot of sense. Rocket, I guess, but a non-humanoid character would be odd and probably rub people the wrong way. Valkyrie is pretty much confirmed bisexual. Loki? There doesn't seem to be a lot of options for a gay (not bisexual) character unless we start opening it up to more minor characters. Like maybe Kraglin had a crush on Yondu.

Nebula could be interesting. I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting it’s Rocket, which is just like...why? :funny:

He seems openly hostile to Quill's fooling around. That's about all I got.
