Three Teens Arrested for Waiting While Black

So other than the original poster implying that this was a racist article, where is the racism in the article?

It seems a store owner was complaining of kids loitering, a cop asked the kids to leave (black, white, pink, yellow, green etc.) the kids pleaded their case, the cop did not want to hear it or the coaches and arrested them? The cop made a bad call ultimately, but where is the "racism"? Seems like it's only in the OP's mind...

I wasn't saying just this one event was racist, I'm talking about all the hassle a black person gets for being in NY. Black teen jailed for 3 years he didn't commit, stop and frisk targeting minorities, black people arrested and accused of stealing while shopping at stores, etc etc. Seems like if you are blcak NY isn't the best place to be IMO

Where do blcak people come from?:wow:

Quick picking fights with the seniors, kid.

Gee, what a shock :o
I spoke to a New Yorker about it, he said being harassed by jerk cops didn't happen to him, but it happened to more people he know of the same ethnicity
What's wrong with these morons? :cmad:

You are making a judgment on this incident without any factual evidence that this was racially motivated. I guess I could call it being prejudice, you know pre-judging a situation without all the facts simply based on your pre-conceived notions what may have happened due to your opinion of the parties involved.

Well I'll bet ya if it had been 3 white star athletes from high school we wouldn't be having this discussion

I'm certain there was a caucasian athlete in the Stubenville stuff...so yeah.

He posts a lot of articles having to do with "police corruption", where is the news source for this article? I bet it's from an anti-police-state conspiracy-theory website. I mean, his method seems to be working. There seems to be a lot more discussion on these kinds of stories rather than the few positive police threads I started that got 2-3 replies.

It just wreaks of hypocrisy when he can claim the police were being prejudice/racist yet it seems he is allowed to be prejudice/racist with his comments. Typical double standard for those who don't want to face the truth.

Still your fault Dj. All of it.

Wrong, Kev. It's your parents' fault because they misspelt your name :o

:oldrazz:

DS, you don't want to start this war.

DJ, I read the article in the link and then did a search and looked at other sites. None of them mention the race or ethnicity of the rest of the teammates nor do they single out the 3 arrested as being black. They do mention that there seems to be a pattern forming of police abuse towards young people, no race or ethnicity specified.

The coach goes on to say: "One of the police officers actually told me, if he had a big enough caravan, he would take all of us downtown."

Like I said previously, I'm aware (I think most of us here are) that there are a lot of race prejudice arrests going on but this one doesn't fit the bill. This is a case of abuse of power, even if the owner of the business had filed complaints of loitering before.

The owner might just be an idiot not realizing that there's a bus stop there.

It's not a bus stop per se. It's a central location they chose to gather and the yellow bus would come to pick them up.

I live to start wars :palps:

And you will lose…everything…

lol...that seems pretty impossible even if he is an idiot. Why not just request the city move the bus stop instead of calling the police all the time for loitering? He probably could have written a councilman and gotten better results.

Meh...if this incident truly went viral then I'm sure the city will move that bus stop now, so everyone wins.
