And I loved both of the movies, though my only gripe with Values is that the main plot was just a redo of the first film's.

How so? I'd even say that Addams Family Values is one of the few comedy sequels that doesn't rehash the plot of the first film. The first one was mainly about Fester reuniting with the family and the second was about Fester marrying a serial killer.

I like the casting. Hope that the initial plot was thrown out though. Wednesday with psychic abilities trying to stop a murder is....not Wednesday Addams.

This isnt the first Addams tv show...they can find storylines that fit lol.

No I understand that, but those were episodic half hour sitcom episodes. With Tim Burton, they're obviously going the more cinematic serialized route so Wednesday harassing Pugsley or running away from home probably won't be enough to justify its existence in this form.

The Addams are all about the murder, dark stuff....unless it's threatening the family or potential love one...thats why it's great for the show to be made but you gotta ensure that you dont jump the shark by making them "normal"

When I read that he was cast, at first I thought, "Huh?" until your post reminded me that Gomez did originally look like this as opposed to the more suave looking versions played by John Astin and Raul Julia:

Agreed! I thought they would go more in the Astin/Julia route, but Guzman totally fits!!

Catherine Zeta Jones definitely fits the part

Luis Guzmán….ehhhh. The guy lacks a certain something that Raul Julia just permeated. I personally think Andy Garcia would have been a better choice

You're thinking too much of the Julia version. Guzman is a very good fit for the original Charles Addams version.
