Tim Burton Developing ‘Addams Family’ Series, 'Wednesday' Starring Jenna Ortega

They show it on cable every other night now.

At the very least, Danny Elfman should do the theme music!

And Eva Green as Morticia would be perfect, but I wonder if they would go for an older actress, depending on what age Wednesday is.

Eva Green as Morticia- preferably paired with Oscar Isaac as Gomez- is one of those castings that should've happened by now. It's too perfect and many have called for it because it just fits like a glove.

At first, I was thinking "Hasn't he already adapted them?".
And then I realize he didn't.

Burton & Addams Family are made for each other!!!!

Values is the best movie.

How is this the not popular opinion?

The camp subplot is ecstacy and Wednesday is a goddess in the film. The play scene is absolute perfection.

Then Joan Cusack is so brilliant.

Malibu Barbie!
I love Values, it's much funnier than the first film but I can see why people prefer the first because that feels more like classic "Addams Family" with all the family being together for the majority of the movie.

And RIP Raul Julia. He was such a powerhouse in Values even though it mainly revolved around Fester and Wednesday with Gomez and Morticia being pushed to the background a bit. But these two are some of my favorite scenes in the movie because of him:

It's because he's gone that I wouldn't want Gomez and Morticia involved in any sort of Christina Ricci Wednesday Addams project.

Everyone is so absolutely brilliant in Values.

So damn funny but the first is more traditional and also good..

No other Wednesday compares to me.

That could be the fact that I adored the snarky alternative girl archetype so much.

Ricci was also my young actress of choice back as a kid over say Thora Birch or whomever else.

Not only Ricci but the entire cast of the Sonnenfeld movies are who come to mind when I picture the Addams Family. The only weak links were Pugsley since they didn't really give him much to do and the Grandmother from the first film. Carol Kane was a big improvement in Values.

I do think Astin was great in the old show. Not really into anyone else.

This is the show where Tim Burton could be Tim Burton...as long as Johnny Depp stays out. Dark Shadows could‘ve been great...without Willy Wompire

Considering they haven't worked together in almost a decade and given everything going on in Johnny Depp's life right now I think it's a safe assumption to say that he won't be involved.

How old were you when you found out about the comic strip?

I don't remember it being discussed by anyone growing up.

I don't know, I'd be up for a Johnny Depp cameo as Cousin It. And you know Depp would be down for... it!

I was probably a preteen when I learned it was based on a comic strip. Since I grew up in the '90s, my first exposure to it was through the Sonnenfeld movies, the animated show from 1992, then reruns of the '60s show (although I preferred The Munsters to that one), and the short-lived New Addams Family live action series on what was then called Fox Family (now Freeform).

LOL, that would be fine. I just don't want him as Gomez.

Another fun fact I learned today: Tim Burton actually was approached to direct the 1991 Addams Family film, but had to pass on it due to his obligations with Batman Returns. It makes too much sense since a lot of the film seems to be stylistically inspired by Burton.

The comic strip is kind of low-key. The '60s show was what really catapulted it into pop culture.

I didnt find out about the comics until maybe 10 years ago?

Im interested to see what they would do with Pugsley. He's easiest the least developed of the Addams family and always just seems there. Does he take on the weirder aspects of Fester or the weird heartthrob like Gomez?

I actually think my favorite Pugsley is the 1992 cartoon version.

The cartoon Pugsleys have always had more personality than their live action counterparts.

Sentence in bold is sooo true.

Don't mention Depp. You might give Burton some ideas :halo:

Depp can be Cousin It. Just put him on set under all that hair, crouched down, saying gibberish.

"We didn't even cast him, he wondered onto set like that one day and Tim just kept filming"
Don't be mad at me, but I think Depp could suit Gomez.
If he's just plays the character laid-back excentric this time, and not crazy excentric as he usually does
