I don't think anyone can deny that Planet of the Apes has fantastic make-up, a great score and a really nice set design.
Agreed. It may not be Burton's best movie, and he even knows that, but it does have fantastic make-up and score.

Alice in Wonderland has me in such confusion as to how I should feel about it. I love Burton, and am always excited when he is doing something new, and I'm very excited for this movie, but I don't know if I'm going to like it or not. I'm not too keen on the sequel idea, or the whole "Underland" nonsense, but I guess I'll just have to wait until the movie actually comes out.
Even if this movie doesn't have the greatest script or story, I'm still sure it's going to be a visual masterpiece.

Man, I really don't get the Burton detractors, you know what the guy is gonna do, usually something cooky, obscure and Gothic, and people like his films because of those things. He's had some hits and misses sure, like every director, I don't really know why detractors expect something different from him, a) it's worked for him 9 times out of 10, and b) it's his style, it's dark, it's macabre, it's humourus. At the end of the day he's not some hack director, he's just odd and different.

watched the original disney version last night on vhs

my anticipation for the new movie just keeps getting bigger every day

I should probably rewatch the animated one. I might look it up online.

Incidentally, anyone else hoping someone asks Depp about The Rum Diary while doing press for this film?

In one of the recent commercials, did anybody catch the red queen playing croquet with the flamingo?

His style isn't the problem. His style is awesome. What he needs is better stories for his rescent movies.

It will probably just resolve itself, Disney wont let an opportunity to make money go. They'll push back the dvd date.

They better.
Disney has alot riding on Alice In Wonderland and it will have to compete quits fiercely whenHow To train Your Dragon & Clash Of The Titans come out for the 3d screens.

They just showed a scene of the Tweedles in the Red Queen's castle on Craig Ferguson. Fraustratingly, Alice was mum the whole time.

It's like I'm never going to get hear Alice speak more than one line until I see the movie.

I saw a commercial last night where she dominated the dialogue in it.
If I find it, I'll post it.

Majik1387 --I don't know if this is the one you are talking about, but you get a couple lines out of Alice in this clip. I am really excited for Mia to amaze us all, because I think she is really going to blow us away in this role...she seems like the silent, but deadly sort of actress -- in a good way!

Nah, that's not it. I'm talking about an actual commercial, not a commentary type thing.

I'm not against CGI. I like me some good CGI as long as the CGI works. It doesn't have to be realistic, just make it work.

I don't mind the CGI charcters. The movie is suppose to be cartoony anyway but there's a part me of that wish that 'Alice' used more sets because despite the colorful backdrops, everything that I've seen so far has been flat.

There's a lack of depth, even in the wide open spaces that the movie takes place in or at (the castle, forrest, fields, etc).

After Avatar made you believe that 'greenscreen' can work, a movie like 'Alice' looks dated with the digital sets.

Okay, I finally saw a scene of Alice thanks to Helena being on Craig Ferguson.

Verdict: Her voice sounds weird.

Helena Carter is the weirdest interview I've ever seen.

Helena Bohena Carter IS weird, so its no surprise! She is one of my favorite actresses though.

i like the subtle glow on everything. like a lucid dream.
looking at those screencaps i am angry. because with the right use of 3D this would be a dream like experience. but since everything will jump out like a 80's videogame it will all be destroyed. to bad that Burton didnt want to think outside the box becuse he had a chance to use hes old style and make it unique with the experience.

but still in those screencaps i like how it visual looks.

More or less adaptation of Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There, the novel sequel to the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
So its not based on Alice In Wonderland, but another book and they are still calling it Alice in Wonderland though? That seems a little confusing to the regular person not knowing that and thinking its gonna be like alice in wonderland, not some other book they prolly read.

Kinda like false advertisement I guess you could say. lol.

It's based on the characters and environment of alice in wonderland with an original storyline. Let's put it that way.

I didn't know Marilyn Manson had a cameo in this film!

Just look at the yellow flower and tell me it's not....lol

Thanks for those caps, Soulinertia :woot:

In my opinion, the film looks awful. The CGI world looks unimpressive and flat, as if there's no depth whatsoever other than the few feet between the actors and a green screen. Not to mention a storyline that looks unenjoyable with lame use of 3D. I'll be skipping this.
